Chapter 300 · Volume 1

General My-Foot

“It's working!”
Big Beard Zhang's voice was thick with excitement, and he slapped his thigh hard.
“I was wondering why all our research was getting nowhere—turns out we were looking in the wrong direction from the start!”
“Damn it all, who would have thought this cursed thing was actually a product of an evil god!”
After he finished speaking, his eyes lit up as he looked at the amulet.
“Xiao Yang, where did you get this amulet? Can we mass-produce it?”
At these words, even Mr. Yuan and Mr. Yu turned their gaze toward him.
An amulet that could resist the influence of an evil god, even if its resistance was only average, was still a priceless defense!
Yin Yang gave a bitter smile and said, “Mr. Zhang, this amulet was made for me by my family. The production method isn't overly complicated, but it's not suitable for use in the military.”
“Oh?”
Big Beard Zhang was somewhat surprised, then let out a sigh. “I understand, I understand. You're from Central City; your family certainly has many rules. It's only normal that they wouldn't want their secrets shared.”
Mr. Yuan and Mr. Yu also nodded, clearly sharing the same thought.
Yin Yang sighed inwardly. The identity of a scion from a great family really was useful!
Considering that the war was about to begin and it would be difficult to enroll as an ordinary person, he had crafted the persona of a young master from a powerful family. It seemed that had been a wise move.
“No, quite the opposite. I'm very willing to help the soldiers, but the higher-ups wouldn't agree.”
Everyone present was intelligent, and they quickly realized what he meant.
“A matter of faith?” the outspoken Big Beard Zhang asked first.
“Yes,” Yin Yang replied with a helpless tone.
Mr. Yuan, Mr. Yu, and Big Beard Zhang looked at each other, but none of them spoke.
In Great Wei, especially within the military and the upper echelons, there could be only one faith: the War God of Great Wei!
As for worshipping other deities, that was absolutely out of the question.
Of course, that was only on the surface. What happened in the shadows was another matter entirely.
“Sigh,” Mr. Yuan lamented. “A perfect solution is right before our eyes, yet we can't use it.”
Big Beard Zhang gritted his teeth. “Use it! I'll just say I'm the one who made it. If anything happens, I'll take the responsibility!”
“You take responsibility? Can you even handle that responsibility?!”
Mr. Yuan’s expression became extremely stern. “Do you know how many soldiers are on the front lines? Do you know the sheer scale of the logistics required to give every one of them an amulet?”
“When the higher-ups investigate, do you think you can hide it from the Baleful Stars even if you claim you made them? You'll only end up dragging Xiao Yang into it!”
“No, absolutely not!”
Big Beard Zhang let out another silent sigh, his expression dejected.
Yin Yang silently put the amulet away, saying nothing. With his current status, he wasn't in a position to decide such things.
Seeing the atmosphere grow heavy, Mr. Yu clapped his hands to draw everyone's attention. “What’s with the long faces? Haven't we already discovered that this isn't some ancient fungus, but a product of an evil god?”
“Our research has clearly made progress, so why do you look so defeated? Perk up! As Old Zhang said before, we're running out of time.”
“Everyone, hurry up with the research. Once we conquer this transcendent disease, there are plenty of others waiting for us!”
Encouraged by Mr. Yu's words, everyone finally regained their spirit.
“Right, Old Yu is right. Now that we know it's a product of an evil god, we just need to find a way to solve it.”
“It's just an evil god. Has Great Wei not slain plenty of them over the years?”
“Well said!”
The group began researching how to deal with the evil god product. Yin Yang joined them, thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to work alongside these industry giants.
He could always learn a great deal from them. Many questions for which Yin Yang couldn't find answers in books were resolved by them in just a few words, making him cherish the opportunity even more.
For three consecutive days, they ate and slept in the laboratory, yet they still hadn't found a viable method.
The level of an evil god product was simply too high. Ordinary medicine was useless against it, and the frustration made Big Beard Zhang scratch his head constantly.
He looked at Yin Yang more than once before turning away again.
After he had looked one too many times, Yin Yang simply handed him the amulet. “Mr. Zhang, I’m giving this amulet to you. You can use it for your research.”
“What? Is that really okay? What about you?”
Yin Yang smiled and waved it off. “It's fine. I have a spare.”
“A spare?”
“Yes. I was afraid of losing it, so I usually prepare a second one for my important belongings.”
Hearing this, Big Beard Zhang was moved. He patted Yin Yang on the shoulder. “Xiao Yang, don't worry. I won't let you lose out on this!”
Yin Yang smiled, then began explaining to Mr. Zhang. “This is an amulet of the Lord of Rebirth and Communion. Its only function is to expel the influence of evil gods. I don't know much else, so you'll have to study it slowly.”
“The Lord of Rebirth and Communion?”
Big Beard Zhang murmured the name softly. Almost instantly, the amulet in front of him began to glow faintly, brightening and dimming like a slow breath.
“Hmm?”
Mr. Yuan and Mr. Yu stood up abruptly.
They had never even heard of this Lord of Rebirth and Communion. Who knew if it was some other evil god? Big Beard Zhang had been reckless enough to call out the name directly—who knew what might happen?
Fortunately, the amulet only pulsed with light.
Yin Yang laughed. “Mr. Yuan, don't be nervous. The Lord of Rebirth and Communion is not an evil god. In fact, he even has some followers within our Great Wei.”
Hearing this, Mr. Yuan assumed the Lord of Rebirth and Communion was some local deity, and his expression finally relaxed a little.
Even so, he still gave Big Beard Zhang a fierce glare.
“How old are you now?! Still acting so rashly. Is a deity's name something you can just toss around casually?”
“Why don't you just go ahead and chant it as a Word of Command while you're at it?!”
Big Beard Zhang looked a bit sheepish as he was scolded, repeatedly promising that he would never make such a rookie mistake again.
It was at that moment that the doorbell rang, and an assistant walked in.
“Gentlemen, General Chen is here!”
Upon hearing the name, the three men immediately stood up. Yin Yang followed suit, his mind quickly recalling who in Great Wei would be addressed as General Chen and would appear at this time and place.
Chen Ang!
Great Wei's God of War!
He was known for his incredibly steady military tactics.
It was said that a truly skilled commander earns no illustrious fame, and he was exactly that kind of man.
Yin Yang stood behind Mr. Yuan and followed them out. Just as they left the lab, they saw a burly man walking toward them with a booming laugh.
“Old Yu! Long time no see!”
Mr. Yu greeted him with a smile. “Indeed, General Chen. It has been a long time.”
Hearing the title, the man looked dissatisfied. “With our relationship, what's with this ‘General’ crap?”
“Fine, General My-Foot.”
“Piss off!”
From the way they joked and cursed at each other, it was clear their relationship was exceptionally close.
After greeting Mr. Yu, Chen Ang turned his gaze toward Yin Yang and the others.
