Chapter 295 · Volume 1

The Actor and the Best Actor

“Hahaha, hit me? Yuan Ge! I think you’ve lost your mind!”
As the man spoke, a phantom appeared out of thin air behind him, and terrifying waves of divinity surged upward!
“Your medical skills are indeed superior to mine, but when it comes to fighting, even two of you wouldn't be a match for me!”
Mr. Yuan didn't even bother with words. His legs bent, and in the next instant, he vanished from where he stood.
Swoosh!
Boom!
A shockwave rippled through the sky, making Yin Yang feel a bit unsteady. Seeing this, Mr. Yu wordlessly moved to stand in front of him, shielding him.
“Don’t be afraid. Old Yuan might not necessarily win a duel, but he certainly won't lose.”
At first, Yin Yang didn't quite understand that sentence. But when he saw the emerald-green little gourd above Mr. Yuan’s head, he suddenly understood.
This Mr. Yuan was actually a Sequence 5 [Suspended Pot] of the Physician pathway!
Judging by the color of the gourd, he was likely more inclined toward support; his combat power couldn't compare to the likes of Black Death Lolita.
Even so, he was still quite a handful.
Mr. Yuan easily neutralized several attacks from the Great Qi Demigod.
The opponent's expression grew increasingly grim.
“Yuan Ge, you’ve grown quite a bit over the years, but it’s still not enough.”
As he spoke, lights flashed behind him, and the phantom began to shrink.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Missiles with long fiery trails began to bombard the area. Mr. Yuan’s expression changed drastically.
“Hahaha, idiot! What era do you think this is? Did you really think I came here just to reminisce with you?”
He grinned savagely at Yin Yang and the others.
“Since you’re unwilling to come to our Great Qi, then you can all go to hell!”
Hearing the word 'hell,' Yin Yang’s right hand twitched slightly.
He was forcibly suppressing his urge to act. After all, the moment he intervened, his identity would be exposed, and this cover would become useless. He wasn't sure if he would still be able to get close to the war after that.
“Mr. Yuan!”
Liu Hong was anxious. Although he had several transcendent items on him, they weren't enough to let him interfere in a battle between Demigods.
As the missiles rained down on the area, Guo Kai’s expression was twisted with malice.
“Yuan Ge, let’s see if anyone comes to save you this time!”
The emerald gourd above Mr. Yuan’s head spun rapidly, sending out ripples of green light toward the missiles.
Several missiles were detonated prematurely the moment they touched the green ripples, sending shockwaves scattering in all directions.
Having done this, Mr. Yuan looked down at Guo Kai.
The two of them had been classmates, both students at the medical school.
Initially, they had been quite close. Mr. Yuan felt that while Guo Kai was a bit slow, he wasn't a bad person, so he often helped him with his studies and even lent him his notes.
That lasted until he stumbled upon the man's identity as a spy!
This Guo Kai was actually a Great Qi spy who had come to the medical school specifically to steal secrets.
Mr. Yuan had been devastated by the news. What hurt even more was that because of a piece of scum like Guo Kai, their teacher’s reputation was destroyed, and the man was even taken away by the Baleful Star for a long interrogation.
By the time he was brought back, the teacher's eyes were hollow.
Even after decades, Mr. Yuan still hadn't let go of this grudge.
“If anyone comes to save me? Guo Kai, what did you experience back then?”
As Mr. Yuan spoke, he beckoned to the gourd in mid-air, and the emerald vessel spun as it flew back into his palm.
“If I remember correctly, the one who was constantly on the run was you!”
“You were hunted by the Baleful Star until you had no way to heaven and no path to the earth. In the end, you almost used a knife to take your own life. Have you forgotten that?”
Hearing this, Guo Kai’s expression changed once again. Yin Yang couldn't help but find it remarkable; this man named Guo was the most expressive Demigod he had ever encountered.
One could tell exactly what he was thinking just by looking at his face.
It was a pity for such a person not to be an actor.
Boom!
The divinity on Guo Kai’s body boiled even more fiercely. He stared at Yuan Ge and spoke one word at a time.
“Back then, you and I were both ordinary people. You say I was hunted by the Baleful Star, but as a citizen of Great Wei, you couldn't possibly be ignorant of the entry requirements for the Baleful Star, could you?”
“Then how do you think I, an ordinary person at the time, managed to escape from the Baleful Star’s hands?”
Guo Kai’s words gave Yuan Ge pause.
It was true. Back then, Guo Kai was just an ordinary person. How could he have escaped from the Baleful Star?
Could it be that there was a traitor within the Baleful Star?
If there really was a traitor, what position would that person hold now?
Mr. Yuan forced himself not to think about those things; after all, they were in the middle of a fight.
“If it weren't for Teacher pleading for mercy on your behalf, do you really think you could have lived until now?”
Guo Kai’s words were like a bolt from the blue, freezing Mr. Yuan in place.
He was stunned, but Guo Kai wasn't. The spy let out a cold laugh, his face wearing the 'gotcha' expression of a triumphant villain as he flew toward Mr. Yuan.
Yin Yang sighed inwardly. Mr. Yuan’s strength was decent, but his combat instincts were truly lacking.
Just as Yin Yang was about to intervene by force, Mr. Yu suddenly erupted with divinity and charged forward!
This move left even Liu Hong dazed. He wondered if he was watching some kind of hot-blooded old-man anime.
How were these old men one more fierce than the next? Weren't you supposed to be professors? Why do you look like wild beasts now?
Guo Kai was startled and hurriedly dodged, shouting, “Yuan Ge, you’re despicable! You’re exactly the same as you were back then!”
Mr. Yuan sneered.
“When dealing with a piece of trash like you, no method is too low!”
Yin Yang thought to himself that this was brilliant. If Guo Kai was a good actor, then Mr. Yuan was the Best Actor!
But as he thought about it, something felt off. If he were Guo Kai and knew that the enemy could guess his thoughts through his expressions, he would definitely wear a mask.
Being seen through by an enemy in battle was a terrifying thing. Yet, the man hadn't covered himself at all. This made Yin Yang realize a possibility, and he decisively shouted out.
“Professor Yuan! He’s using some kind of transcendent item! The side effect is that his emotions are laid bare!”
Hearing this, Guo Kai instantly whipped his head around to glare at Yin Yang with an expression that looked like he wanted to devour him.
On the other side, Mr. Yuan became twice as serious. The side effects of transcendent items were often directly linked to their power.
A transcendent item that would make a Demigod willing to have his thoughts exposed must be terrifyingly powerful.
“Damn it, I really can't let you live!”
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Several more missiles streaked in from the distance, but this time, missiles also launched from behind Yin Yang’s group to meet them.
Mr. Yu sneered.
“Did you think you were the only ones with missiles?”
Guo Kai continued to sneer. The phantom behind him twisted, and a layer of illusory flames appeared on the surface of his armor.
What was even more direct was his divinity; it was currently skyrocketing at a rate that made even Yin Yang’s heart skip a beat.
Oh, wait. He didn't have a heart.
