Chapter 287 · Volume 1

Grand Celebrant

The charms of emotion!
The delusions of gods!
The temptation of power!
None could confuse him!
This was why Yin Yang kept moving forward, always forward!
He had understood from a very young age that no one could stay by another's side forever; everyone had their own path to walk.
Where paths intersected was where people met.
The distance shared might be long or short, but in the end, one must return to their own path.
Therefore, when two paths met, one must cherish the moment.
And when two paths drifted apart, one must let go decisively.
As for the so-called bestowals and blessings of gods, those were even less worth mentioning.
Instead of placing his hopes in gods, Yin Yang trusted himself more. This was evident from the very first object he chose to consecrate.
In his eyes, these gods were more like tools.
The Rain God was a tool for making rain.
The Thunder God was a tool for making thunder.
Nothing more.
As for the ultimate power, his reasoning was much the same.
External power that could be given could also be taken away.
Yin Yang had known since childhood that there was no such thing as a free meal in this world. Relying on anyone else was never as good as relying on himself.
He was his own greatest backer!
That was why he continued forward, never slackening for a moment.
Yin Yang continued to walk. His spirituality and divinity vanished completely, but his humanity grew stronger and stronger!
Eventually, rays of light began to shine from his body.
The statues around him grew sparse. By the time Yin Yang’s entire body was glowing, not a single statue remained.
The spirituality within his body began to recover, and the complex divinity reappeared, hovering behind him.
Everything seemed to have returned to how it was before, except his humanity was now far more potent!
Yin Yang walked on and on until the surroundings transformed back into a hazy gray space.
There was no direction, no time, and no reference points.
After walking for an unknown duration, the gray mist began to gather rapidly, condensing into a shifting sphere before him.
The sphere compressed and then cracked open, revealing a fissure.
Yin Yang stepped through the fissure and found himself inside a cave.
Inside the cave stood an altar. Its center was covered in a layer of white powder that looked like bone ash.
And atop that ash, another 'Yin Yang' lay quietly, his expression weary.
Yin Yang walked over and smiled, patting 'his' forehead.
“Don't sleep anymore. It's time to wake up.”
Back in the cave in reality, the vortex was still spinning!
The blade-wielding ghost and the lantern-carrying ghost looked on with tense expressions. As for the Headless Ghost on the other side, it didn't even have a head, so naturally, no expression could be seen.
Just as the surrounding mist began to thin, the vortex suddenly jolted to a halt.
Wooo—
Following a low, sobbing sound, a touch of gray appeared at the center of the vortex.
That gray gradually outlined the patterns of bones, followed by meridians, muscles, and skin!
The vortex continued to absorb the surrounding mist, but this time, the mist took on color the moment it drew near.
Some was red, some yellow, some white, and some brown.
They injected new colors into that gray humanoid figure, ensuring its appearance was no longer monotonous.
It looked more and more like a person—a normal person.
Once all the mist had merged into the figure, Yin Yang finally opened his eyes.
His appearance seemed unchanged, yet at the same time, he felt completely different.
A surge of powerful spirituality and humanity erupted from his body simultaneously!
Almost at the same time, the divine phantom behind him manifested uncontrollably!
The three forces shone in harmony.
Yin Yang had officially stepped into Sequence 6!
Grand Celebrant!
...
Huangyi City.
“Class, please settle down.”
“This new student has transferred from Central City. He will be studying with us for the foreseeable future. I hope you all get along and look after him.”
“Student, please give a brief introduction of yourself.”
The elder stepped back. He was also somewhat curious about this student, who had been personally delivered by the principal.
Coming from Central City and being brought here by the principal himself meant his background was likely quite extraordinary.
The young man took a step forward, a gentle smile on his face.
“Hello, everyone. My name is Zheng Yang. It’s an honor to be your classmate.”
Seeing the young man's smile, several girls in the audience felt their hearts flutter. Suddenly, the lecture didn't seem so dull anymore.
“Alright, Student Zheng Yang. Just pick an empty seat near the front.”
“Yes, teacher.”
‘Zheng Yang’ replied and took a seat in the fifth row.
His position was relatively isolated, with no one sitting immediately around him.
“Everyone, focus. Today’s lecture is on acid-base balance disorder.”
The teacher opened the textbook and began the lesson. ‘Zheng Yang’ listened with absolute focus, and the class passed quickly.
After the teacher left, several students gathered around him curiously, showing no sign of shyness.
“Student Zheng Yang, are you from Central City?”
“That’s right.”
“If you're from Central City, why didn't you attend the Central City Medical School? That’s one of the sacred lands for medical students in Great Wei!”
As the student spoke, his face was filled with yearning.
The other students nearby nodded in agreement, clearly sharing that sentiment.
Yin Yang smiled inwardly. The reason was obviously that Central City had too many high-sequence transcendents and strict background checks; the probability of his fake identity being exposed there was much higher than here.
He thought this, but he couldn't say it.
“It's simple. The surgical department of our Huangyi City Medical School is also famous throughout Great Wei.”
“Besides, one can encounter many types of injuries here that are rare in Central City. That's very appealing to me.”
“Oh? You want to become a surgeon?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
The students were puzzled, but Yin Yang’s expression became very serious.
“Because I’ve heard that Great Qi has been very active lately. They might be about to go to war with us.”
“If war really breaks out, I want to be on the battlefield saving the lives of our soldiers.”
Hearing this, some felt admiration while others were dismissive.
After all, anyone could talk big, but few would actually dare to go when the time came to face a real battlefield.
They had no way of knowing that going to the battlefield was indeed Yin Yang’s true objective for coming here!
...
Central City.
Wannian Platform.
“The Baleful Star has sent back news. Great Qi is frequently mobilizing its troops. It seems they can't wait any longer.”
“What about us? How are our preparations?”
“Our strategic resources are sufficient. Even if war breaks out now, we can support our army for three to five years!”
“Border conflicts have been increasing lately. Given the situation, war might break out in less than two years.”
“If it happens, it happens! Wasn't this decided long ago?”
“If you ask me, we should strike first!”
“No, that would give them the moral high ground.”
“Their leader wants to use the war to break through to Sequence 3. He’s definitely more anxious than we are, so we don't need to rush.”
“But if we strike first, we can save many of our soldiers' lives.”
“The moral high ground is more important!”
