Chapter 231 · Volume 1

Better to Keep It Pure

Boss Li let out a long sigh.
“They approached me recently, saying they wanted me to introduce some Demigods to them. For every one I introduced, I’d get a referral fee of five hundred thousand.”
“To be honest, five hundred thousand is incredibly tempting, but I really didn't dare.”
“Oh?” Ye Muchun asked curiously. “You didn't dare? Why?”
“Sigh.” Boss Li sighed again before slowly explaining.
“Brother Ye, you might not know this, but the Shadow Lotus Church has a history.”
“A history?”
“Yeah. They hired several Demigods in the past, and once the job was done, not a single one of them returned.”
“There were rumors at the time that the hiring was just a front. In reality, they had sacrificed those Demigods.”
“What?” Ye Muchun was stunned.
Sacrificing Demigods?
“That... that can’t be right, can it? No one who manages to become a Demigod is simple. Didn't the organizations behind them investigate?”
“How could they? That incident happened inside an ancient secret realm. Once the realm closed, the entrance couldn't even be found.”
“The church didn't say those Demigods were dead; they just claimed to know nothing about it.”
“Besides, that’s the Shadow Lotus Church. Who would dare to push them too far?”
Ye Muchun nodded, understanding Boss Li’s concern.
“Boss Ye, we’ve done business twice now, and I think you’re a good person, which is why I’m telling you this.”
“Opening a shop in Wanwu City means you get the City Lord’s protection, but you also enter the line of sight of certain people.”
“Whether that’s good or bad is something you’ll have to judge for yourself.”
“Thank you, Boss Li.”
Ye Muchun nodded with a sigh of emotion. Boss Li took a sip of tea and checked the time.
“It’s almost time for the city gates to open. Boss Ye, let’s have tea again another day.”
“I’ll see you out.”
...
Huangshan University.
“Hahaha! I sold over three hundred orders yesterday, more than I usually sell in an entire day!”
“Yeah, yeah. Even though most of those students are here for Nie Yang, they can’t just eat two sausages. Most of them buy something else on the side. I sold quite a lot yesterday too.”
“At this rate, we might actually surpass the food street across the way!”
“Damn, I checked before. A stall over there costs over two hundred thousand a year in fees. How many pancakes would I have to sell just to make that back?”
“Exactly, exactly.”
As they spoke, they saw Yin Yang arriving at his spot on his electric tricycle.
The other stall owners were incredibly enthusiastic when they saw him.
“Little Nie, I’ve already cleaned up the area around your stall. Come on over!”
“Little Nie, the early bird gets the worm—sell me two sausages. I saved half of the ones you gave me yesterday for my wife and kids, and they’ve been clamoring for more ever since.”
“I want two as well.”
“Give me two too.”
Yin Yang nodded with a smile. After parking his tricycle, he laughed.
“No problem, no problem. I made extra today, so these are on the house.”
“No, no! How can we let you give them away for free? We’re paying.”
“Exactly. If they were leftovers you couldn't sell, that would be one thing, but these sausages are basically cash. If we took them for free, it would be no different from stealing money from your pocket!”
The stall owners all shook their heads, insisting they wouldn't take the sausages if Yin Yang didn't accept their money.
Seeing this, Yin Yang didn't push further. He opened his ingredient box, took out several semi-finished sausages, and handed them to the owners.
“Grilled sausages have to be fresh to taste good. Take these home and cook them yourselves; otherwise, they won’t be as good once they’ve gone cold.”
The group took the semi-finished sausages with smiles. One of them looked at the product in his hand and suddenly asked, “Nie Yang, do you sell these semi-finished ones wholesale?”
“Hmm?”
Yin Yang looked at him, and the man continued excitedly.
“You sell these for five yuan a piece, but you have to come all the way to the school gate to do it.”
“I can give you five yuan each as a wholesale price. I’ll take as many as you have, and I promise I won’t come here to the school gate to compete with your business.”
The other stall owners’ eyes lit up as they instantly grasped his idea.
They had all tasted the sausages and knew very well that these could easily sell for seven or eight yuan, let alone five!
If they could get a steady supply, they could sell these sausages anywhere!
“I’m in too!”
“Me too!”
The crowd gathered around, but Yin Yang only sighed.
“I know that would make more money, but these sausages are different. The ingredients are scarce and cannot be mass-produced.”
“When I said I don't make much profit, I was being serious.”
One stall owner asked in surprise, “If you aren't making money, why not raise the price? People would still buy these even if they were seven or eight yuan, right?”
Yin Yang shook his head and smiled. “When it comes to food, I prefer to keep things a bit more pure.”
The stall owners were left speechless.
If he wasn't short on money, why was he out here with an electric tricycle?
If he was short on money, why would he sell something for a low price when people were clearly willing to pay more? It wasn't even like he was trying to go for a high-volume, low-margin strategy.
They really couldn't understand young people these days.
...
Mid-mountain Manor.
“The Security Bureau took the bodies?”
“Yes.”
“Did they find anything?”
“No.”
“Did our people find anything?”
“Nothing either.”
The security captain rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Two Sequence 7s died back-to-back in less than ten seconds. The surveillance cameras captured nothing, and there was no residual spiritual aura left at the scene.”
“Even a Sequence 6 would find it difficult to achieve that level of precision. The opponent is very strong.”
The captain stood up. “I’m going to see the Butler.”
His deputy stood up to follow, but the captain waved him off. “Review the footage from last night again. See if you missed anything.”
“Yes, sir!”
The deputy’s attitude was very respectful. The captain walked straight through the manor. Everyone he encountered stopped what they were doing to acknowledge him, showing that he held a high status.
He nodded to them with a smile as he reached the manor’s main hall. The Butler was currently supervising the cleaning staff. When he saw the captain, his expression remained neutral.
“Found anything?”
“No.”
“Are you here to borrow a transcendent item?”
“Yes.”
“Follow me.”
The Butler ignored the floors the servants had just mopped and led the captain into the depths of the villa.
They eventually stopped in front of a giant oil painting. The Butler pressed a ring on his finger, which emitted a brilliant array of colors onto the painting.
The colors on the oil painting seemed to come alive, twisting and reorganizing until they formed the pattern of a door.
The two walked straight through the painting.
Almost at the same moment, Yin Yang, who was selling sausages, suddenly looked up.
He felt a faint, stinging pain in the stitches on his abdomen. Once again, he had sensed the aura of his liver!
Recalling the Headless Ghost’s perception from yesterday, he let out a cold sneer in his mind.
‘It seems they’ve placed my internal organ in something like a hidden vault.’
‘No matter. At least now I know exactly where it is.’
