Chapter 159 · Volume 1

The Eldest Young Master, Exploded

The Eldest Young Master waited until the smoke cleared before signaling with a wave of his hand. The security officers, equipped with gas masks, rushed inside.
This time, he had ordered his subordinates to wear body cameras.
Through them, he could monitor the situation inside from the outside.
The dust in the room hadn't fully settled yet, leaving the visibility somewhat blurred.
Having learned from the experience of the previous officers, the group moved with extreme caution.
They advanced inch by inch. The living room had long since been blasted to pieces, with steel ball bearings embedded deep into the walls.
As the four men shifted carefully, the Eldest Young Master watched the feed with intense focus.
“Stop!”
The moment he gave the command, the four security officers froze.
“Xiao Yu, look to your left. Is there something on that wall?”
Following the directive, the officer named Xiao Yu turned his camera. Sure enough, a dark shadow was clinging to the wall.
The shadow appeared flat, resembling an irregularly shaped carpet.
“Careful. Don't get close. Fire a few shots to test it.”
“Yes, sir.”
Xiao Yu raised his weapon immediately.
The moment he moved, the black shadow on the wall lunged at him!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The team’s nerves were frayed, and they opened fire the instant they saw the shadow move.
Since they had already lost four men, the Eldest Young Master had authorized the use of anti-magic bullets.
These bullets were incredibly expensive and were only issued for special missions.
The moment the bullets struck the shadow, they sliced through it like a hot knife through butter, carving out massive gashes.
Clang.
A crisp sound echoed, as if a bullet had struck metal.
“Bastard! Don't hit my head!”
“I worked so hard to find this clever head! Don't you dare hit my head!”
The shadow erupted in a blind rage, expanding violently until it enveloped the entire room within its body.
The video feed and communication cut out instantly.
The Eldest Young Master took a deep breath and stood up.
“Notify the Bureau Chief. A transcendent incident has occurred in the Old District. Suspected loss of control of a transcendent item.”
“Yes, sir!”
The subordinate immediately began the report.
“Chief, a transcendent incident in the Old District, suspected...”
Whoosh!
Before he could finish, a flaming arrow tore through the Eldest Young Master's chest.
Boom!
The flaming arrow exploded, blasting him into two pieces.
His upper body was sent flying high into the air. In the next heartbeat, a hulking figure appeared out of nowhere, decapitated him with a single stroke, and tossed the head aside.
A massive hand reached out from the shadows, caught the head, and vanished without a trace.
Everything happened in the blink of an eye—so fast that no one nearby could even react.
Thud.
The headless upper torso slammed into the ground, blood spraying everywhere like a shattered watermelon.
“What was that explosion?”
The Bureau Chief's voice crackled over the phone.
The subordinate hesitated for a long moment before speaking.
“The Eldest Young Master... the Eldest Young Master just blew up.”
“What?!”
...
It didn't even take five minutes for the Eldest Master to arrive on the scene.
When he saw his son's body, severed in two and missing its head, he was completely stunned.
Montages of his son's childhood flashed before his eyes like a revolving lantern.
Pfft!
The Eldest Master spat out a mouthful of blood. Even as a Demigod, he could not withstand the agony of losing his child.
“Who? Who killed my son?!”
The Eldest Master grabbed his subordinate, his eyes bloodshot and crazed.
“It was three monsters. They worked with terrifying coordination. The first used a bow and sniped the Eldest Young Master from a distance.”
“It was an explosive arrow. It blew him in half. As his upper body was thrown into the air, the second monster cut off his head and threw it to the third.”
Hearing this, the Eldest Master's face grew even paler.
“The scene... was there no spiritual residue left at the scene?”
“None.”
Boom!
The Eldest Master kicked off the ground, leaping into the air.
He was going to get the Sealed Object!
He would use it even if it had blacklisted him!
His son was dead; nothing else mattered anymore!
The subordinate opened his mouth to speak, glancing back at the third floor. He thought to himself, ‘That ghostly thing hasn't been dealt with yet, and you're just leaving?’
But remembering the Bureau Chief's expression, he swallowed his words.
After all, he might not necessarily die from the supernatural disturbance.
But if he provoked the Bureau Chief right now, he was definitely a dead man.
...
The Security Bureau, the Hidden Vault.
“Uncle Guo, I need to borrow the Sealed Object!”
Uncle Guo, bundled in a thick cotton coat, seemed dazed for a moment. After ten seconds, he finally spoke.
“Oh, it's the Bureau Chief. But Chief, you've been blacklisted by the Sealed Object.”
“If you try to force its use, I'm afraid it will end poorly for you.”
“You know as well as I do—Sealed Objects have minds of their own.”
The Eldest Master's expression turned even more grim.
“Uncle Guo, my son is dead. My son is dead! Can you understand how I feel right now?”
“I don't care if it ends poorly for me. Even if I have to die the moment I'm done using it, I will have my revenge!”
Uncle Guo sighed.
“Chief, your heart is in turmoil. The more you are like this, the easier it is for the Sealed Object to influence you.”
“Uncle Guo, you watched me rise to this position step by step. Please, just help me this once!”
The Eldest Master could only plead.
He knew the strength of the old man before him all too well.
Uncle Guo sighed again, shaking his head with a bitter smile.
“Thirty minutes. You have only thirty minutes.”
“If you don't return the Sealed Object within thirty minutes, you know the consequences.”
“Thank you, Uncle Guo. Thank you.”
The Eldest Master thanked him repeatedly as he watched Uncle Guo open the Hidden Vault, step inside, and bring out the Sealed Object.
The Sealed Object of the Huang City Security Bureau was a coiled dragon jade pendant.
The dragon carved upon it was somewhat blurry, and the jade itself had a fine, delicate texture.
Uncle Guo looked at the Eldest Master with a serious expression.
“Be careful.”
The Eldest Master took a deep breath and nodded before taking the jade pendant.
The moment he touched it, the pendant began to grow searingly hot. Even as a Demigod, he struggled to endure the heat.
“If you help me, I will sacrifice one-third of my divinity to you!”
The jade remained scorching.
“Half!”
Still hot.
“Two-thirds!”
Still hot.
“You... you don't want it all, do you?”
It remained hot.
Now, the Eldest Master didn't dare make any more promises. If he sacrificed a portion of his divinity, there was still a chance to recover.
But if he sacrificed all of it, whether he could ever recover was a serious question.
Left with no other choice, the Eldest Master frantically swapped the pendant from his left hand to his right and back again, trying to find some way to bypass the heat.
Finally, seeing that nothing worked, he ducked into an alleyway, placed the Sealed Object on the ground, and began kowtowing to it.
“Father, Ancestor, please help me!”
“My son has been murdered! I'm not asking you to investigate a god this time, just help me find the one who killed my son!”
“If you can find the killer, I'll give you four-fifths of my divinity! Is that enough?!”
Upon hearing this, the Sealed Object finally stopped burning his hands.
The Eldest Master grabbed the jade and ran. Arriving back at the Old District complex, he shouted,
“It's here! Who killed my son?!”
The jade pendant began to glow faintly. The small dragon carved on it seemed to come to life, swimming around the perimeter of the pendant.
Suddenly, its movements stiffened. The dragon's head turned toward the Eldest Master and let out a silent, frantic roar!
