Chapter 157 · Volume 1

Get Rid of Him Too

“Sh—Shuo?”
Li Lüe’s voice was numb.
Hearing the call, the head cradled in Li Shuo’s hands suddenly snapped its eyes open!
Seeing this, Li Lüe backed away in terror and tripped over the doorsill.
“Brother, you’re back?”
“Didn’t you always say I was stupid? That going to university was useless?”
“I’ve got myself a new brain now, Brother. I can go to university too.”
“This new brain is very useful. I feel so smart now. I can understand many things I didn’t get before.”
“Brother, can I go to university now?”
Li Lüe couldn’t hear a word he was saying; he was too busy scrambling backward for his life.
Li Shuo stepped forward, one pace at a time.
With every movement, the incense burner on his neck swayed from side to side.
Only now did Li Lüe see clearly that the incense burner was bound to the top of Li Shuo’s neck by thick veins. Those veins were still pulsing and contracting like living creatures.
“Brother, you’ve always been smarter than me since we were kids.”
“It seems like just having one smart head isn’t enough to get into university. Why don’t you give me your head too?”
Li Lüe finally scrambled to his feet and ran outward without looking back, screaming in panic.
“Help!”
“He—”
Thud!
Just as he was about to reach the door, a heavy object slammed into the back of his head.
Li Lüe was knocked to the ground. Turning his head, he saw Li Shuo’s severed head lying beside him with a grotesque grin, while the incense burner monster back there was still in a throwing posture.
“Brother, stop running. Give me your head!”
...
The Li family.
The masters of the three branches had all arrived at the greenhouse.
The Eldest Master sniffed the air, his expression turning increasingly grim.
“Residual divinity!”
As soon as those two words left his mouth, the faces of everyone in the room changed.
None of them were strangers to transcendents, so they naturally understood what residual divinity meant.
“What happened here just now?”
“Just now—”
“Shut up! Wang Man, you speak.”
The Third Young Master was about to speak when the Eldest Master cut him off.
Hearing this, Wang Man hurried forward and said,
“Eldest Master, this gardener invited me to the greenhouse, saying he had something to discuss with me.”
“I’d had conflicts with him before, so I was cautious and brought a few brothers along.”
“Who would have thought he truly harbored ill intent! He and the Third Young Master set an ambush for us here. The Third Young Master lunged with shears and stabbed several of my brothers to death!”
By the time Captain Wang reached this point, he was sobbing uncontrollably. Yin Yang simply watched him quietly.
‘This guy’s acting is terrible. His expressions are exaggerated, and his emotions are skin-deep.’
‘The only thing halfway decent is that he didn’t stumble over his lines. In a performing arts department, I’d give him a passing grade at most.’
Hearing the story, the Eldest Master and the others all turned to look at the Third Young Master.
They didn't doubt Wang Man's words because the Third Young Master’s character was well-known. The things Wang Man described were exactly the kind of things he would do.
The Third Young Master only sneered in response, staring at Wang Man with a playful, mocking expression.
Wang Man felt his skin crawl under that gaze, but since he had already offended the Third Young Master, he had to see this through to the end.
Once this was over, he would immediately beg the Eldest Master for a transfer to an outside post!
The Eldest Master looked at the Third Young Master with disgust but didn't say anything.
The Third Master looked at his son with dissatisfaction and said,
“You’re a grown man, and you’re still causing such trouble!”
A matter involving several lives was dismissed as mere 'trouble' by him.
Seeing this, Yin Yang decisively raised his hand.
“There’s a surveillance camera in the greenhouse!”
“Hmm?”
Everyone’s eyes snapped to Yin Yang. Even Captain Wang looked bewildered.
As the captain of the guards, he knew better than anyone where the cameras were in the estate. Since when did this greenhouse have surveillance?
Seeing their reaction, Yin Yang pointed toward his bed.
“Earlier, Captain Wang asked me what I do at night. I said I sleep, but he didn’t believe me and kept pestering me with questions.”
“So, I installed a camera by my bed, thinking that the next time he asked, I’d have proof to clear my name.”
Hearing this, the Third Young Master couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
“Hahahaha!”
“Interesting, how very interesting!”
“Hahahaha!”
He laughed until he was breathless, as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world.
Wang Man’s face grew paler and paler until it was completely bloodless.
Just by looking at their expressions, everyone knew that what Wang Man had said was definitely not the truth.
Ignoring the tension, Yin Yang pulled out his phone and brought up the footage to show everyone.
With every word spoken in the video, Wang Man’s face grew whiter. When the recording reached the part where he talked about finding a patron to back him, he fainted dead away.
The Third Young Master laughed until tears came to his eyes. He pointed at the unconscious Wang Man and said,
“Eldest Uncle, do you still want this man? If not, I’ll take him.”
The Eldest Master’s face was dark. “Take him where? Don’t you know it’s against the law to beat people?”
The Third Young Master’s laughter became even more exaggerated.
The Third Master glanced at the Eldest Master before saying,
“I will discipline my own son. As for this servant, he framed his master. Dismiss him.”
“Yes, sir!”
Two guards stepped forward and dragged Wang Man away.
You were the captain before.
But who knew who the next captain would be? Who cared about him now?
When the power is gone, so is the loyalty.
The Eldest Master’s face was ashen. After all, everyone knew Wang Man was his man, and now this had happened.
“Wang Man was indeed in the wrong, but this gardener isn’t any good either!”
“He’s only been here a few days, and my Li family has already had so much trouble. It seems his fortune clashes with ours. Dismiss him as well.”
It was the Eldest Master who spoke this time. Yin Yang immediately looked utterly devastated, yet he forced himself to remain silent.
He really wanted to wake Captain Wang—no, Wang Man—up so he could see what real acting looked like.
But it didn't matter. His goal for coming to the Li family had already been achieved. As for when the ancestral ritual would be, the flowers and plants would tell him.
Several guards stepped forward, eager to perform well and leave a good impression on the Eldest Master. Perhaps the next captain would be one of them?
Yin Yang waved them off.
“I haven’t fainted. I don’t need you. I’ll go to HR and process my resignation myself.”
The guards ignored him and followed closely behind him, staring at him as if they were afraid he might steal something from the Li family.
Yin Yang didn’t care. He packed his few belongings and left, carrying two transparent shopping bags.
Since the bags were transparent, the guards had no reason to search them.
As Yin Yang walked away, he could still hear the masters discussing the residual divinity.
The corners of his mouth curled up. He thought to himself, ‘What’s the point of studying divinity?’
‘Instead of wasting time on that, you’d be better off studying the Purifying World Shadow Lotus I buried under the greenhouse.’
‘Oh, that’s right. You don’t know about it.’
At that thought, Yin Yang’s smile grew even wider.
...
Old District.
“Holy crap, what is that smell coming from the Li house?”
“Who knows? Are they stewing literal shit?”
“Call the property management! Get them over here. Who can stand this stench!”
