The method Mephistopheles spoke of was to unbind the magic circle, allowing the forcibly dragged-down incarnation of the Moon Deity to return to the firmament, at least in consciousness.
At the same time, because Faust was inextricably entangled with it, he would be pulled up as well. This meant the fairy who had signed a contract with the prince could use the 【Great Thunder】 as a medium to enter the Moon Deity's domain.
After being embraced by the incarnation of the Moon Deity, Faust's soul was carried upward along with it, ascending to the heavens.
That sensation of extreme lightness was something no spell could ever provide. Faust felt as though all his impurities, heaviness, and anxieties were being washed away, replaced by a searing heat as if he were bathing in the radiance of a blazing sun.
When he opened his eyes again, what lay before him was a sight of unparalleled shock.
Vast beyond measure, infinitely grand.
Faust saw countless soul-forms wandering like swirling nebulae, sometimes dispersing and sometimes converging, their brilliance gradually fading into layers of dim auroral clouds.
Streams of pale gold or amber light gathered into luminous pathways. A massive dark sun flickered within a fountain-like vortex, resembling a disaster star that swallowed all light, yet its far side emitted a kaleidoscopic afterglow.
Just by staring at those entities as vast as celestial bodies, the prince felt a splitting headache, nearly driving him to unconsciousness.
Faust tried to turn his head to look in other directions, but he found himself completely unable to control his conscious form. He was like a drop of ink falling into a vast ocean, drifting with the tide and losing himself in this infinitely grand world.
Just as a sense of loneliness surged in his heart, a familiar voice reached his ears, though the wording felt strangely foreign:
【Chosen one, come and see.】
【I have waited for a long time; the day for your kind has not yet come... or perhaps it is this very moment?】
"Mephisto, what does this mean?"
Faust wanted to turn back to see the entity behind him, but because his consciousness was completely stalled, he couldn't even move a finger. Nevertheless, he still offered a sharp critique of Mephistopheles:
"If you want to play god, go back to the heavens!"
【Ahem, I subconsciously slipped into old habits. Don't mind it.】
Faust wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but Mephistopheles's voice had become clearer and softer. Previously, the voice that echoed in his mind was hard to distinguish as male or female, young or old.
Now, however, the voice clearly carried a feminine softness and mercy.
Yeah, a big sister. Definitely a big sister!
Faust felt as though he were being embraced, his back pressed tightly against someone. The fairy's clear and beautiful voice rang in his ear, sounding like the chanting of a sublime poem:
【Furthermore, this is already considered the Celestial Realm. A mortal soul is too heavy for you to make any reaction, leaving you to only drift in this ocean of souls. Come, let me open an upward vision for you.】
A hand emerged from the sleeve of a white robe and grasped Faust's wrist. Under Mephistopheles's guidance, Faust saw a pale gold vision frame appear before his eyes.
Those celestial bodies and light paths, previously too dazzling to look at, became gentle and beautiful within the frame.
Whoa, this frame... this frame is actually pretty cool.
Faust's splitting headache finally eased, allowing him to appreciate the scenery of the Celestial Realm.
【This is the outer edge of the 【great wheel of life】, the source and destination of all souls. To the mortal world, this is the land of paradise, the place of reincarnation. If the world is a perfect cocoon, then this is the place that nurtures the 【Cocoon of the World】.】
Mephistopheles's gentle words continued:
【A fairy's spirit resides in this celestial abode. Even since ancient times, few among the 【son of man】 have been able to witness the Celestial Realm. This time, we truly have the 【witches' feast】 to thank for this opportunity.】
Faust also knew that Mephistopheles wasn't using this cheat without a cost. This primordial fairy was taking advantage of the fact that the 【wheel of destiny】 was stalled by the conflict of the 【witches' feast】 to fish in troubled waters.
If the chaos weakened even slightly and the mechanics of the 【wheel of destiny】 detected a fairy interfering in the 【witches' feast】, Mephistopheles would likely face immediate destruction.
Thus, the prince immediately said seriously, "How long can you hold on? Where is the Moon Deity?"
【Ah, my dear Faust, are you worried about me? There is no need. The greatest danger was the moment of entry. Now that we have successfully ascended to the Celestial Realm, there is no cause for concern.】
【But you are right. Let us settle the business first.】
Mephistopheles's other hand appeared before the prince's eyes. It looked as though it were carved from white jade, flawless and like a work of art.
Snap—
With a snap of its fingers, Faust saw thousands of stars separate within the light paths. In an instant, only a single, crimson blood moon remained.
This blood moon seemed to possess a physical form, continuously dripping dark red blood. Upon facing Mephistopheles, it let out a sharp, piercing shriek, as if trying to communicate something.
Mephistopheles listened patiently, then spoke softly:
【I understand. As thanks for receiving your legacy, I will fulfill your wish.】
【Rest in peace, my pitiable compatriot. May you be free from confusion and find your liberty.】
Thump—
There was no earth-shattering explosion, nor any heart-stirring miracle.
With just a single glance, that blood moon collapsed. Layers of holy magic circles appeared over it as the massive moon went from decay and rot to total annihilation in an instant.
Faust's eyes widened.
"That's... it's dead?"
One-shotted! How do you even explain that?
No, I was just joking before. Mephisto, are you truly the Emperor Mephisto? Is it too late to switch back to formal honorifics?
【It is not death, but a return. Do you truly see me as some cold-blooded villain who would kill its own kind at will? I'm truly hurt, Faust...】
【I have merely sent it back into the circuits of the 【great wheel of life】. This fairy's soul will be repaired and reborn after countless cycles of growth and decay, though that timescale would be longer than any 【son of man】 could imagine.】
After explaining to Faust, Mephistopheles's mental projection embraced the immobile prince from behind, landing on one of the light paths and walking slowly.
【Time and space hold little meaning here on the outer edge of the 【great wheel of life】. If one does not frequently gaze upon the mortal world, centuries can pass in a daze. And vice versa.】
【Walk with me for a while. In this lonely world, only the warmth you brought from the mortal world feels real.】
What's this about one day in heaven being a thousand years on earth? Is that how you all became such old-timers?
But since Mephistopheles had said so, he was happy to broaden his horizons, strolling through the Celestial Realm under Mephistopheles's guidance.
