Mephistopheles's assurance was comforting; no matter how much they bickered daily, the contract fairy was reliable when it came to serious business.
【Interfering with a witches' feast... in the past, I would never have even dreamed of it. However, if the collision between multiple witches is intense enough, it might not be impossible. In the worst-case scenario, I can at least build a pathway for you.】
"And in the best-case scenario?"
【Then Little Mephisto here will suppress this era and sweep across all eternity.】
Good, good. Emperor Mephisto is the best; it is high time he ruled over all eternity!
Faust almost wanted to clap in approval, feeling tempted to chant Mephisto's true name within the cycle of reincarnation to obtain eternal life.
"I need to write a letter to the outside world. I will leave the delivery to you."
The Prince Regent gave the order to Sylvia as if it were the most natural thing in the world, leaving the latter utterly bewildered.
"Why should we serve you?!"
Faust looked surprised.
"Do you actually have any other choice? Although I do not know much about wolf packs, what benefit is there in continuing to be loyal to the old order when your family's ancestor has already fallen?"
"Or is your head really that thick? If you insist on standing against us, you will just have to be slaughtered. There would be no saving you then."
Alkin also looked at Sylvia with a meaningful gaze and said:
"I forgive your previous disrespect and rudeness, but do you truly intend to remain indifferent during this final, grand hunt? I do not remember you being such a boring person."
"...Damn it! I must be insane to participate in a plan for deicide!"
Sylvia exchanged a look with her sisters and bit her lip hard.
"Grandmother is dead. I can forge the orders and become the head of the family, but I cannot keep it a secret for long."
"That is enough. You only need to mobilize all the family's resources to host a magnificent banquet in our homeland for this lifeless kingdom."
Alkin turned away gracefully, flipping her shawl with one hand as she performed a proper salute under the moonlight.
"O Great Moon, I make a wish. I desire a grand celebration, one that will envelop the entire Fog Moon Kingdom. During this time, please suspend the night of the hunt."
"I will continue to offer the blood of beasts to you during the festival. I invite the Great Moon to descend at that time!"
Zing—
After listening to the white wolf's wish, the blood moon withdrew its presence. This deity had long since lost its sapience; it agreed even to such an obvious trap.
Then again, a deity that would resurrect the Wolf Ancestor just to reward the hunter who killed it was clearly operating without a brain.
"Not bad. Next, I will write a letter. Once my people arrive, they will also be able to add some fireworks to the festival."
Faust nodded and said:
"I am not boasting, but I am not exactly a small figure in the outside world. If you do not know much about preparing a grand event, you can ask the outside for help. Anything within my realm of governance will provide the greatest assistance."
Sylvia said gloomily:
"We know. Among the intelligence the family collected through our channels, there was information on you, Prince Faust."
Alkin's lake-blue eyes sparkled upon hearing this. "Oh? Faust, it turns out you are actually a formidable person."
"By the way, who are these people you are inviting?"
Faust felt a bit awkward. Meeting the white-haired girl's curious gaze, he could only brace himself and say:
"Well, my childhood friend and my fiancée. You could say... they are both my lovers."
"Ho..."
Alkin revealed a subtle smile and licked the corner of her lips. "You seem to trust them a lot. Are they powerful?"
"Just as powerful as you."
On this point alone, Faust could give a definitive answer.
"I see. Then I am quite looking forward to it. But before that, would you allow me to leave a bit of my exclusive scent on you? Consider it my reward."
Alkin said with a straight face:
"If you truly love this cause, you would not only think of yourself and refuse to give a warrior some pleasure. If you continue to refuse to be intimate with me, it will dampen this warrior's high morale and spirit."
Although the wolf-girl's expression showed nothing unusual, Faust could accurately capture her true thoughts.
She was feeling repressed.
It was only natural to feel repressed. If anything, the fact that this 【witch】 was only starting to feel this way now showed she had been exercising incredible restraint.
Faust did not know whether to laugh or cry. "...I never said I was refusing. If you are willing, I can accompany you anytime."
The white wolf stretched her limbs and took Faust's hand.
"Then let us hurry. Let us not waste a single moment. Every day we have not danced should be considered lost!"
"Wait, where are you going?!"
Seeing Alkin pulling the Prince Regent away, Sylvia could not help but ask:
"Are you not staying with the family?"
"The family? I do not want to! I am a stray wolf now! No rules shall ever bind me again!"
The white wolf waved her hand and laughed loudly.
"Would a free and unrestrained bard ever stop in one place? Work hard, you lot! I will be waiting at the destination for the show to begin!"
...
After leaving the forest, Faust and Alkin truly began their vacation. Setting aside her duties as a hunter, she acted as a guide and took Faust on a tour of the Fog Moon Kingdom.
Given Alkin's familiarity with everything, Faust had ample reason to suspect the girl usually spent her days like this anyway.
After two months of traveling—or rather, waiting—they finally arrived at the white wolf's homeland.
In a high-floor hotel room in the city center, Faust stood before a floor-to-ceiling window, looking out at the city. This city, located right in the heart of the Fog Moon Kingdom, was currently decorated with lanterns and streamers. Even at night, it was a scene of bustle and excitement.
It made one wonder if this was truly a city under the silent order of the wolf pack.
"To think such a massive change could occur..."
Hearing Faust's sigh, Alkin spoke from behind him:
"It is because of the Moon Deity's decree. At least for the common people and hunters, the Moon Deity's will is absolute. There are not many people who know the truth, and they... well, they probably will not be getting much sleep."
"Sylvia's side can no longer suppress the news. The heads of the other families should already know about Grandmother's death. Right now, they are probably looking for me."
Faust turned around to look at the instigator of it all.
Alkin was sitting on the sofa reading a book. Having shed her hunting gear, the wolf-girl's casual home attire was quite revealing.
She wore a white short-sleeved shirt and a pair of knee-length shorts. Her slender arms, as white as a porcelain doll's, held the book, and her long legs, far more elegant than those of other girls her age, were almost entirely exposed.
Through the loose leg of her shorts, one could catch a faint glimpse of hidden scenery. A custom opening had been made at the base of her spine, through which her bright silver-white wolf tail emerged. The fluffy fur was spread across the sofa, twitching occasionally.
Her two smooth little feet rested on the wool carpet, her dainty white toes unconsciously rubbing against the wool in a very cute manner.
Of course, the most eye-catching part was the fullness of the girl's chest. It had not been obvious when she was tightly wrapped in her hunting gear, but her current home clothes could no longer hide Alkin's stunning figure.
She leaned against the back of the sofa, her body naturally relaxed. The perfect elasticity of her young flesh created a full, rounded silhouette against the white shirt, which, much like her silver-white wolf ears, was quivering with her every unconscious movement.
