It was not an exaggeration for Faust to describe this exchange as a battle.
An exchange between those strong in mystery was entirely a competition of physical strength, willpower, and mystery traits.
Technique, instinct, and effort intertwined as the fierce contest intensified, as if a winner would never be decided.
But a draw was absolutely not enough; Faust had to win!
He had to win decisively enough to establish his unquestionable dominance!
【Great Thunder】, unlimited thunder! Come forth for me!
Sky-Propping Otto, you come forth too! Let me see where my limits lie!
...
In the end, he won, winning fairly and honorably.
When the first ray of bright morning light filtered through the window, Faust climbed out of bed; the battle had ended in the early hours of the morning, and the witches, satisfied, had gone to bathe, likely not to return for a few hours.
But the prince regent still had plenty of energy, so he took advantage of this spare time to handle his business.
He would sacrifice the marks of the primordial path to Mephistopheles.
Praying and offering sacrifices to a fairy was originally a quite profound field of study; the choice of ritual, preparation of materials, and how to establish a connection were all quite complex and difficult.
There were plenty of mortals who wanted to give gifts to fairies, but whether they would be accepted depended entirely on their standing!
Under the guidance of Mephistopheles, however, Faust's sacrifice certainly didn't have so many restrictions; he could just go through the motions.
For instance, regarding the most critical sacrificial offering to open the ritual, Mephistopheles had said plainly:
【Originally, the requirement was to sacrifice the youngest child, but it was later changed to the purest white lamb. You can just grab a roast lamb chop from the kitchen to make do.】
Faust laughed, "You scoundrel, you're quite picky. You should be glad you're getting anything to eat at all!"
He actually went to the kitchen and took a piece of roast lamb chop, then placed a few white candles around it.
Then, while chanting the prayer, Faust reached out his hand and allowed the candlelight to sear his palm:
"Dread the honorable name, O Most Holy God."
"Divine presence walking upon the waters, Sovereign who carves the heavens, My King who embraces the astral frontier!"
"I pray! Accept the holy covenant; we kneel like waves of wheat to touch the light of mercy."
"I pray! Let the law hang high like the Solar Disk as the mountains bow their heads to listen. We offer this bountiful lamb."
"..."
Accompanied by the solemn chanting, the mark of heroic valor, the mark of amorous songs, and the mark of strategic foresight... these entities recorded within Faust's path system were extracted and burned above the candlelight.
Normally, things within a path cannot be stripped away, but the sacrificial ritual for a fairy was an exception.
Only during a sacrifice can a fairy's authority be limitedly liberated, allowing Mephistopheles to logically strip the primordial marks from Faust's path.
Afterward, it would slowly digest them.
When the ritual concluded, Faust heard the fairy's sigh:
【Hah... it's rare to be this satisfied. Faust, you've been quite diligent today; you not only satisfied the witches, but you also satisfied me.】
Mephistopheles's tone was suggestive, and the ethereal voice unique to a fairy was captivating.
'You're so shameless!'
Faust wished he could use Great Thunder to strike down this fairy that was deliberately teasing him, but unfortunately, he couldn't; putting aside the gap in power, it was impossible to even touch a fairy that hadn't undergone dragonfall.
So he didn't respond, instead devouring the roast lamb chop in large bites.
'Watch me eat your offering!'
"Faust, what are you doing?"
Just as Faust swallowed the lamb chop, he heard a question from behind him.
Faust turned around to see Selena walking into the room, inspecting the traces of the ritual.
The white shirt fit her young and beautiful form with an elegant curve. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders, shimmering with gilded light in the morning sun.
Selena usually wore a haughty and composed smile, an arrogant posture that, while beautiful, was often infuriating, as if everyone were expected to hold her in their palms like a goddess.
But now, Selena's appearance had changed slightly.
Her profile appeared tranquil and soft, her fair skin showing an enticing rosy hue, beautiful enough to take one's breath away; the curve of her lips no longer seemed ready to mock others, but was instead a languid and contented smile.
Faust replied, "I was showing gratitude to the fairy who bestowed blessings upon me by performing a sacrificial prayer."
The princess skipped over with her hands behind her back, resting her delicate chin on Faust's head and slowly rubbing against him, laughing:
"How could such a crude ritual ever draw the gaze of a fairy? It's lucky enough not to offend them. And... are you eating the sacrifice?"
Snow White's smile faded slightly; even with her arrogance, she still held a sense of reverence for fairies... though not much, it was still there.
Faust flatly denied it:
"I was just hungry and grabbed a bite. Besides, which fairy would care about a snack like this?"
Mephistopheles immediately said in a pitiful voice:
【But I'm really craving it. I've been wanting to eat lamb for so long, yet no one ever offers one to me.】
