The property transaction proceeded smoothly without any further complications.
Silvia Carroll, now in possession of five million Belu, sat satisfied in her ornately decorated carriage as she headed toward the Main District. It was likely she wouldn't return to the South District for a long time.
Olivia Melianne stood in the living room, looking at her new home, feeling a brief sense of daze.
She had actually managed to acquire her own house here, in the Imperial Capital of Kaliron.
After spacing out for a moment, she set to work cleaning her new home herself.
Fortunately, following the Path of Asceticism gave her excellent physical fitness. Even after several hours of continuous cleaning, she didn't feel particularly tired.
At the very least, compared to combat, this level of exertion was slower than her natural recovery rate.
Afterward, she visited a department store on Annus Street to purchase some new daily necessities.
She bought brand-new bedding, tableware, and other essentials.
She had briefly considered hiring some maids, but remembering her numerous secrets, she ultimately abandoned the idea.
By the time she had finished cleaning most of the house, Olivia was standing on the second-floor balcony.
There were several pots of expensive flowers on the balcony. Silvia hadn't taken them with her. Under the gentle sunlight, they swayed with a brilliant luster, their fragrance filling the air.
Olivia's gaze fell on the flowers, then drifted down to the street below, where her eyes suddenly narrowed.
On the street, a red-haired lady was walking leisurely, holding a newspaper. She looked as though she were reading while walking, but her gaze occasionally drifted toward the house, seemingly by chance.
It was Fiona Cortez!
Olivia recognized her instantly—her contact within the Rose Legion.
'Why is she here? Does she already know I have this new home? Their intelligence gathering is too fast.'
Olivia felt a chill of alarm.
She quickly asked the magic mirror in her mind, wanting to know how Fiona had obtained this information so rapidly. However, when the magic mirror provided the answer, a strange expression appeared on her face.
The answer was quite unexpected. It wasn't that Fiona's intelligence sources were too powerful; it was simply a coincidence. Fiona happened to see her on the street and followed her. That was all.
At that moment, Fiona also sensed the gaze and looked up, offering a smile.
Olivia understood Fiona's meaning and immediately returned to the bedroom.
She took off her nun's habit and changed into civilian clothes.
It wasn't the dress Melanie Mills had given her before. Although she had brought that dress back from the cathedral, this time Olivia wore civilian clothes that truly belonged to 'her,' which she had just brought back from the monastery.
A cream-colored, round-neck fine cotton blouse sat against her skin, layered with a fine wool waisted short jacket. Below, she wore an ankle-length linen skirt and soft wool ankle boots... This was the very common attire of a Kaliron resident.
After changing, Olivia walked out of the house. Before long, she spotted Fiona's figure further down the street.
The lady wasn't waiting outside the house, as that would be too obvious. She continued walking but slowed her pace significantly, clearly waiting for Olivia to catch up.
A lady moving slowly while reading a newspaper was perfectly reasonable and wouldn't attract much attention.
"You were a bit slow," Fiona said without turning her head as she sensed Olivia's arrival.
"I had to change out of my nun's habit. It's too conspicuous," Olivia replied calmly.
It was a perfectly logical explanation.
Fiona didn't dwell on it and gestured ahead. "There's a park up there. There aren't many people at this hour. Let's go sit for a while."
Olivia nodded.
This park on Annus Street was called Mangrove Park. It was home to a plant known as the redleaf tree. During the summer and autumn, these trees would sprout dense, red, serrated leaves, hence the name.
The numerous redleaf trees spread throughout Mangrove Park. From a distance, they looked like swaying flames, forming a brilliant landscape along the street.
Stepping over fallen leaves, Olivia and Fiona entered the park, the leaves crunching beneath their feet.
A public bench sat not far away. Fiona brushed the leaves off the bench, laid her newspaper down to sit on, and took her seat.
"What exactly happened?"
Fiona pulled out another newspaper. On the surface, she appeared to be reading, but she was actually whispering her inquiry.
Olivia naturally knew what Fiona was asking about.
The commotion caused by the Twilight Council earlier had been too massive. The disturbance didn't just involve the dozen or so streets that had been targeted.
Because Annie Spoorberg had used the King's Domain to partition all the streets, most of them—even those not chosen, those without evil god altars, and those without members of the Twilight Council—were still affected by the lockdown, which had left everyone on edge.
After a moment of thought, Olivia said, "The matter is quite complicated. It involves the Twilight Council."
She paused there, watching Fiona's reaction out of the corner of her eye. She saw the other woman's expression shift slightly.
The name 'Twilight Council' was enough to make anyone uneasy. After all, they were a group of lunatics who embraced death.
Not only was the Church unwilling to touch death lightly, but other heretical organizations weren't fond of it either.
Pulling her focus back, Olivia spoke to the mirror in her mind.
'Magic mirror, magic mirror, how well has the Church covered up my performance in this incident? Can it be guaranteed that my role in stopping the descent of the evil god's will won't be known by too many people?'
【The Church is capable of a very thorough cover-up. The memories of the relevant personnel have already been influenced. If the Master returns to the Daylight Cathedral now, Melanie Mills will have good news for you regarding this.】
Olivia felt relieved upon hearing this.
She looked at Fiona beside her and began to recount the clash between the Church and the Twilight Council. She glossed over certain details about herself, merely stating that she had performed some minor services and received a reward of several million Belu, which she used to buy the house.
Fiona looked at Olivia in surprise. "A reward of several million Belu? Your contribution must not have been simple."
Olivia's lips twitched slightly. Her contribution was far more than 'not simple,' and she was already downplaying it significantly.
"But, Olivia, didn't you think about donating this money to the organization? You chose to buy a house for yourself instead?" Fiona looked at Olivia, her gaze full of deep meaning.
Olivia's expression remained unchanged as she said, "This is several million Belu. The Church will naturally notice how I spend it. Giving it to the organization would instead jeopardize our plans. There aren't many places I can use it openly, so it was better to buy a house. This gives me a legitimate reason to stay on Annus Street and makes it easier for me to contact the organization."
