Olivia intended to proceed according to her original plan: first, attempt to rescue the other clergy. The strength of a group was always greater than that of one person.
While observing the altar at Huys Square earlier, she had also noticed that the captured people were being held in buildings near the square.
With this in mind, Olivia began to move slowly. She continued her approach toward Huys Square, lightening her steps until she reached the backyard of a house adjacent to the square.
The backyard also had doors and windows.
She peered through a window and, as expected, saw people tied up inside. Some were unconscious, some were awake, some were quiet, and some were crying.
This was good; the sound of the crying would provide some cover for her movements.
However, those held here seemed to be only ordinary civilians; there were no clergy among them.
Rescuing civilians now would clearly serve little purpose, so Olivia left silently to check the next house.
After searching five houses in a row, Olivia's eyes suddenly lit up.
She had finally found the clergy.
Inside one house, a father in clerical robes sat tied up, looking dejected.
This was exactly the first father who had rushed over after she released the signal flare: Andre Corns.
But why was he the only one?
Olivia scanned the rest of the room. Many others were held here, but they were all civilians.
Suddenly, her gaze paused. She hadn't expected to see a familiar girl among the civilians.
Jessica Finley. This was the girl who had just come to the church yesterday to pray and receive a Luck Talisman from her. Today, she was bound tightly, having become a sacrifice.
'The Luck Talisman really is useless,' Olivia muttered to herself.
Seeing Jessica also reminded her of something the girl had mentioned when she came to ask for the Luck Talisman.
In a cemetery here on Huys Street, bodies had been stolen, which had triggered an investigation by the church.
Thinking of the Necromancer's presence in the Twilight Council, the answer to why those bodies had been stolen was now obvious.
Looking at the room full of people, Olivia thought for a moment and then opened the window. This action caused everyone in the room to look over.
As they did, Olivia had already placed a finger to her lips, signaling for them to remain silent.
The crowd was stunned for a moment, but then they immediately returned to their original states—those staring blankly continued to do so, and those crying continued to cry.
One person forgot to cry and was immediately nudged by someone nearby, prompting them to react and resume their fake sobbing.
Olivia nodded inwardly at this.
The reactions of this group of civilians were quite good.
She first went to Andre's side to untie him and asked, "Why are you the only one?"
Andre understood Olivia's meaning and said, "The clergy have been held separately. they won't keep those with transcendent means together to avoid any accidents."
That answer was certainly not good news.
Olivia frowned slightly, sensing trouble, then asked, "Do you have any ideas for the current situation? I saw an altar on Huys Square. Those fellows from the Twilight Council likely intend to summon a sliver of an evil god's will to manifest. I think you understand what the consequences would be."
"I understand, but I... I don't know how to deal with it," Andre said with a bitter smile.
In his view, the scale of this event was too high; it wasn't something a mere father like him was qualified to influence.
A father, in an event like this, was likely nothing more than cannon fodder.
"father Andre, I hope you can pull yourself together. Many believers are waiting for us to change the situation," Olivia said seriously.
Andre was taken aback, then scanned his surroundings.
The many civilians, regardless of what they were doing, had their eyes fixed on them.
In those gazes were hope, expectation, and trust.
Andre felt as if his heart had been struck by a heavy blow. Even though the situation had become so dire, did everyone still believe in him?
He took a deep breath, stood up, and said, "I understand. I will do everything in my power. As a father, this is what I must do."
He looked at Olivia again. In such a situation, someone had actually escaped the previous pursuit and returned to save everyone—wasn't this a wonderful omen?
"In any case, let's save the people first."
Once Andre was free, he immediately went to untie the civilians.
Olivia also rescued person after person.
When it was Jessica's turn, the little girl's eyes were bright as she looked at Olivia and said, "Sister nun, if there is anything you need us to do, even if it is dangerous, please let us do it."
"If it becomes necessary, I will," Olivia said, patting Jessica's head.
Before long, everyone in the room had been untied.
Olivia then went to the window, intending to leave.
But just as she reached the window, her expression suddenly froze.
In the backyard outside the window, several figures stood there at some unknown point. Each figure wore a black cloak, and they stood motionless as the heavy rain beat down on them, giving off no presence at all.
Been discovered?
But why had her spirituality given her no warning?
Olivia's heart tightened instantly, and then a look of resolve appeared on her face.
"Andre, let's fight our way out, even if it's just the two of us."
"No, you go. I will bless you."
Andre had also seen the situation outside. Knowing their presence had been exposed, he couldn't help but sigh.
Perhaps Olivia had been discovered the moment she arrived, but the people from the Twilight Council hadn't acted rashly. Instead, they had gathered first to form an encirclement.
Therefore, escaping now would be no easy task.
Andre had chosen the Priest path. As he whispered under his breath, various blessings were immediately layered upon Olivia, making her feel lighter, stronger, and in a state more powerful than ever before.
"If you escape, we still have hope. As long as we aren't all trapped here." Andre was deeply afraid that Olivia would try to take everyone with her and felt he had to give her a serious reminder.
"I understand," Olivia sighed.
Her plan to rescue the clergy first had failed. Now that she had been discovered, the Twilight Council would surely guard them even more strictly.
But now was not the time to worry about such things. She had to fight her way out first!
