Olivia didn't have anyone in particular she wanted to see.
She simply wanted to test the facilities in Paradise to increase her understanding of the place. No matter how she looked at it, the existence of Paradise was filled with an air of the impossible, completely challenging her understanding of transcendent powers.
Could a transcendent become powerful enough to construct a space like this? Or was it because it was born within a dream that its scale appeared so grand?
Olivia whispered to herself.
As the gondola began to move, her field of vision rose, bringing the vast Paradise into her view.
As her perspective heightened, she suddenly discovered that beyond the distant amusement park, there seemed to be orderly rows of buildings. However, they were hazy, as if separated by a layer of mist, making it impossible to see them clearly.
'The scope of Paradise isn't just the amusement park? The amusement park is only one part of it?' Olivia thought.
Just then, she sensed a strange ripple of magic particles appearing beside her. When she turned to look, a figure manifested as if out of thin air, standing right next to her and looking at her with a beaming smile.
"Ms. Melanie?" Olivia blurted out.
The lady before her wore a nun's habit, her purple hair falling naturally, her features filled with a sense of familiarity. It was indeed Melanie Mills.
According to the Ferris wheel's judgment, the person she wanted to see most was Melanie? That couldn't be right. Melanie hadn't even crossed her mind just now; instead, she had been thinking of her family from her previous life. After all, having transmuted into this world, she would never see her old family again. If possible, she truly wanted to use transcendent means to see them one more time.
But now it seemed...
'Even Paradise cannot peer into the world I came from before I crossed over. So, it provides someone I've had a lot of contact with recently.'
Olivia quickly reached an analysis.
This misunderstanding made her feel a bit caught between laughter and tears, but she was also quite curious about the difference between the Melanie simulated by Paradise and the real Melanie.
"Ma'am, do you know what I want?" Olivia asked.
Melanie wore a smile. "Child, do not hesitate, do not be afraid. I will watch over your growth."
As she spoke, Melanie reached out her hand, looking as though she intended to pat Olivia's head.
This wasn't Melanie at all!
Olivia's expression stiffened slightly. She abruptly raised her hand to catch the other's wrist, preventing her from actually touching her head, while sighing inwardly.
It seemed her situation had caused a glitch in Paradise. Not only was the simulated person wrong, but she was also a hollow shell with a personality that didn't match at all.
Would it produce errors for other people?
Olivia didn't know; perhaps she could try to find the answer from other tourists.
When "Melanie" failed to pat her head, she withdrew her hand and continued to speak words of concern, as if an elder caring for a descendant. This jarring sense of dissonance caused Olivia to lose all interest in communication on the spot.
Once the Ferris wheel completed its rotation and her gondola returned to the ground, Olivia chose to leave.
By this time, Ronan and Raymond had also finished a circuit of the area, having asked several tourists some questions, and had just returned.
Seeing Olivia, they didn't ask if she had seen the person she wanted to see. They felt that such a thing was a private matter and inconvenient to inquire about.
They simply came over to tell Olivia what they had discovered.
Ronan rubbed his brow. "We've asked various tourists and found that the reason everyone enters Paradise is that they received an invitation while dreaming. After that, as long as they fall asleep, they are guaranteed to dream and enter Paradise through it."
Upon hearing this, Olivia couldn't help but think of the Dreamwalker they had cornered before. At that time, the Dreamwalker had used Sylvan Runes to perform a strange chant, which caused them all to enter Paradise collectively. No one had been dreaming then; they hadn't even been asleep.
'Was that an active way to enter Paradise? Right, when we came in yesterday, the tourists hadn't entered yet, so that was indeed another method of entry. Unfortunately, my mastery of Sylvan Runes isn't high enough; I didn't fully understand that guy's chant.'
Olivia felt a bit of regret. Regarding Sylvan Runes she didn't understand, she couldn't even force herself to memorize the pronunciation.
Ronan and Raymond clearly thought of yesterday's events as well. They also hadn't fully understood the Sylvan Runes spoken by the Dreamwalker, so they felt equally helpless.
After a sigh, Ronan continued to give instructions. "Next, we'll split up. Try your best to memorize the faces of the tourists, and then we'll investigate them in reality to see exactly who has become a tourist of Paradise. Also, the number—try to estimate the total number of tourists."
Hearing this, Olivia said, "When the Ferris wheel gondola reached its peak, I discovered there are other scenes outside the amusement park. The amusement park might only be a part of Paradise."
"Only a part..." Ronan's expression grew much more serious. "Regardless, let's estimate the situation within the amusement park first."
The three of them then dispersed, each choosing a direction.
Just as Olivia was about to leave, she saw Rand descending from the Ferris wheel, his face glowing with a look of happiness. This prompted her to walk over.
"Excuse me, sir, did you see the person you wanted to see?" Olivia asked.
Seeing a beautiful young lady inquiring, Rand answered gentlemanly, "Of course. Every time I come, the Ferris wheel never disappoints. Aisha is still as beautiful as ever; she is simply an angel."
Aisha?
Rand's sweetheart?
The intelligence mentioned that Rand was nearly forty and had no wife. Was it because there was always someone in his heart? Someone he loved but could not have?
Without letting her speculation show on her face, Olivia asked again, "Does the person the Ferris wheel presents ever turn out to be a mistake? For example, if the person you most wanted to see was actually someone else?"
Rand shook his head. "I've never seen the Ferris wheel make a mistake, nor have I heard of such a thing. If it happened, tourists would have expressed their dissatisfaction long ago."
From the look of it, she really was a special case.
She didn't ask anything else. After thanking Rand for his answer, she turned and left.
Within Paradise, tourists came and went, enjoying themselves to their hearts' content. Everything here was something that couldn't be seen or experienced in reality.
Olivia had also gained a preliminary grasp of some features within Paradise. She raised her hand and clapped, and a broom flew over, stopping in front of her like a transportation tool on call.
Sitting sideways on the broom, Olivia gave an instruction: "Fly a bit higher, and head in that direction."
The broom moved immediately.
In the sky were clouds that could sing, pink bubbles that played with each other, and butterflies that left rainbow trails as they flew by...
After flying to a certain height, Olivia looked down at the area below and began to estimate the number of tourists.
'The number of tourists is far greater than imagined. This definitely didn't happen in a short time; many people must have been tourists for a long while, yet the church knew nothing about it... Is this really the work of Dreamland Paradise? Hmm... Melanie said there's a small chance it's another transcendent organization, but what is the purpose of Paradise's existence? I don't believe it's truly just to create happiness for tourists. There must be a deeper objective.'
Olivia estimated while she pondered, her gaze sweeping back and forth across the ground below. However, this didn't last long before she sensed a feeling of expulsion spreading from her body.
Immediately following that, the vast Paradise began to grow blurry.
As soon as this feeling appeared, Olivia's expression shifted. She recognized this sensation; it was a sign of being rejected by Paradise, just like yesterday.
'Has Paradise detected us? Detected that we aren't invited tourists.'
Olivia hurriedly seized the time to estimate the crowd below. The image before her eyes grew increasingly blurred, and gradually, the entire Paradise became like an oil painting.
Just then, her gaze darted toward the distance, where she saw a swing on a lawn. The swing was swaying, and sitting upon it was a person—an extremely unexpected person!
"How... is that possible!"
Olivia's pupils inevitably constricted at that moment. She never expected to see that person here.
