Chapter 337 · Volume 1

Mastering the Laws

Olivia's mastery over the Laws of Ice and Snow caused her strength to surge invisibly.
However, after she finished listening to the Divine Language regarding those laws, the voices in her ears ceased.
She consulted the magic mirror and learned that this was only a temporary state. Before long, new Divine Language would naturally drift toward her; this was something every Controller had to face.
Of course, other Controllers would likely feel anxious, worried, or even afraid when facing such a thing.
But for Olivia, it was a magnificent stroke of luck, as it would allow her strength to increase substantially.
There were also ways to actively approach the laws.
At this moment, it was snowing heavily outside, so she naturally felt the presence of the Laws of Ice and Snow.
If she were to delve deep into the earth, she would more easily come under the influence of the Laws of the Earth.
If she went to the ocean, she could naturally be influenced by the Laws of the Ocean.
Olivia intended to spend all her time over the next year comprehending the laws. To that end, she temporarily set aside all other matters.
Consequently, she was unaware that a change was occurring somewhere in the main world.
...
In the distant Desolate Lands, an ancient castle sat perched atop a cliff.
The light of dusk shone upon the snow-covered fortress, evoking a sense of the passage of time.
At the castle's highest point, Cian O'Connell stood looking at the distant scenery, his eyes filled with a complex mixture of emotions.
As the Head of the Twilight Council, he was supposed to be among the small handful of people standing at the absolute peak of the main world. He shouldn't have had to worry about any safety concerns; after all, the only one who could pose a threat to him was Adam, and he only needed to avoid him.
But now, there was another person.
Olivia Melianne.
Just thinking about her performance in the Twilight Divine Domain gave Cian a headache. Her display had been far too shocking, far too terrifying—her strength was well beyond Adam's.
Having such a person existing alongside him in the main world made it impossible for him to feel at ease.
As Cian sighed, a voice reached his ears.
“What are you sighing for? Has some worry turned you into this?”
Hearing that familiar voice, Cian's face filled with astonishment, and he abruptly turned to look toward the speaker.
“Archil, what are you doing here?” Cian stared at the man before him in shock.
Standing in front of him was a man who still looked quite young, but he was dressed in black robes, and a pair of pitch-black wings were spread behind his back.
He was an angel!
All deities possessed the ability to create angels. An angel's affiliation could be determined by their wings; because they originated from different gods, the power of those different gods would cause an angel's wings to emit different colors and auras.
Black wings, permeated with the aura of death. These were angels who belonged to the Death Sovereign.
“As for why I am here, you should ask yourself what you are worrying about in your heart.” A smile played across Archil's face.
Hearing Archil say this, Cian seemed to understand something, and his expression turned into one of pleasant surprise.
“That Lord actually chose to let you take action?” Cian asked hurriedly.
“Otherwise? If the angels do not act, what can you people do against that individual? It can only be left to us, right?” Archil smiled.
“But according to the regulations among the gods, aren't angels forbidden from interfering in the affairs of various worlds as they please?” Cian asked in a low voice.
Even though there were no outsiders around, he still instinctively acted with caution.
Archil found this amusing. “Rules are static, but they can be exploited. As long as we complete our task in secret, who will know that we were the ones behind it? Don't you agree?”
Cian heard this and immediately felt it made sense.
“Then when do you plan to move?” Cian asked again.
“The sooner the better, of course. Go find some forbidden artifacts that can track people. I must ensure I find Olivia in the shortest time possible,” Archil said decisively.
He had come to the main world for only one purpose: to eliminate Olivia.
Olivia's performance in the Twilight Divine Domain had indeed been impressive, but no matter how impressive, it was limited to the stage of transcendence. Angels were existences that had already surpassed transcendence.
Since transcendents could not defeat Olivia, then simply letting an angel take action would suffice.
Archil had come precisely for this reason.
At this moment, Cian was incredibly excited and immediately went into action, intending to find Olivia for Archil at the first possible moment.
...
At this time, Olivia had no idea she was being targeted by an angel.
After mastering the Laws of Ice and Snow, she had indeed burrowed into the earth, staying close to the ground as she waited for new Divine Language to appear.
While waiting, Olivia thought of something else.
‘Magic mirror, magic mirror, since I've become a Controller, your range of control should have expanded, right?’
【Yes, Master.】
‘Do you have any suggestions?’
【Master, my suggestion is to control alternate spaces. If you choose alternate spaces, you can currently control as many as twenty. However, if you limit the controlled area to divine domains, you can only control one domain similar to the Twilight Divine Domain.】
Simply put, controlling alternate spaces provided a much larger range of control and access to more information.
As for divine domains, Olivia didn't go to them often anyway, so there was no rush to control them.
Hearing the magic mirror's suggestion, Olivia thought for a moment and asked another question.
‘If I become a deity, how far would my control reach?’
【You would be able to control the entire Divine Realm as well as all alternate spaces.】
The magic mirror gave a staggering answer.
Controllers and deities were close in rank, but once that step was taken, the resulting change would be extremely drastic.
Similarly, at that level, the magic mirror's range of control would explode to an incredible degree.
Having understood the situation, Olivia accepted the magic mirror's suggestion and chose to control twenty alternate spaces.
As for which twenty alternate spaces to choose, the answer was obvious.
The direct alternate spaces under the other gods were naturally within her selection range.
The Black World under the Death Sovereign.
The Crimson Castle under the Crimson Goddess.
The Toy Paradise under the God of Dreams.
One alternate space after another was thus brought under Olivia's control.
