Due to the transcendent battles that had occurred in the past, the abandoned park was riddled with craters, and spiderweb-like cracks spread in every direction. Restless magic particles still lingered in the air, to the point where ordinary people could not simply approach the area.
Any ordinary person who dared to get close to the agitated magic particles would suffer from constant physical discomfort and recurring ailments.
This was the reason why this abandoned park had become so desolate.
Even transcendents of low class rank could not remain in this abandoned park for long.
Fortunately, Olivia and her companions who had arrived at this moment were all at least transcendents, so they would not be significantly affected.
Under Olivia's guidance, the group entered a tunnel and continued to descend.
Before long, they reached the end, where the stone wall before them appeared ordinary, with nothing particularly remarkable about it.
"To prevent others from discovering this place, I used elemental power to block the path when I left."
Olivia casually found an excuse, even though this was actually her first time here.
She then utilized the forbidden artifact Elemental Praise to rapidly turn the stone wall before her into sand.
The stone wall flowed away, revealing the path once more.
"It is just ahead."
Olivia took the lead.
As she turned the mud before her into sand, she continued to move forward.
After another short while, she brought Gerard and Freya to a bronze gate that looked exceptionally ancient.
Looking at this bronze gate, which clearly belonged to the distant past, a look of even greater anticipation erupted in Gerard's eyes.
"Creak!"
As Olivia stepped forward and pushed, the bronze gate opened, revealing a vast and distant space.
The space was pitch black, and a scent of decay drifted out. The ground was piled with many white bones, and many rusted swords and blades were stuck into the floor, as if some astonishing battle had taken place here in the ancient past.
Within Olivia's field of vision, there were many other things here as well.
There were faint figures drifting through the void; they were ghosts, one after another.
Normally, ghosts would not exist in the world for very long.
They would either dissipate or enter the Undead Plane.
However, the ghosts in this area seemed to be under some kind of restriction, forced to stay here, unable to leave and unable to dissipate.
A large number of ghosts drifted about, making the scene look particularly terrifying. However, Gerard and Freya could not see such a sight.
"This is the place, Count Gerard. If we wish to go further in, we may face some danger," Olivia said to Gerard.
"Let us go in and take a look directly." Gerard was not worried about any issues; after all, he had not arrived in his true form.
Freya had no objections to this either.
The three of them walked into this space filled with ghosts.
The moment they entered, Olivia sensed that the ghosts in the void had locked onto the three of them, which caused her heart to skip a beat.
Immediately following this, the ghosts rushed toward them. As they approached, a slight stinging sensation emerged in the center of Olivia's forehead; it was her spirituality warning her that danger was approaching.
The same feeling appeared for Gerard and Freya, and they stopped in their tracks instantly.
Even though they had not perceived any visible danger, no transcendent would ignore a warning from their spirituality.
"Defend!"
Gerard gave a low shout and recited a word using Sylvan Runes.
Immediately, a moon-white protective barrier emerged around the three of them, forming a layer of protection.
Gerard's transcendent path was that of a Shield Guard, and he possessed exceptionally outstanding defensive capabilities.
At this moment, as Gerard's barrier formed, the three individuals' spirituality immediately ceased to warn of danger, as if the threat had already been resolved.
In Olivia's Eye of Discernment, she could see the ghosts crazily pouncing forward, slamming into the barrier.
But with the abilities of these ghosts, it seemed they could not do anything to the barrier. The continuous impacts, at most, caused the barrier to shake, but they could not break it.
"Where is this attack coming from?"
Gerard watched as his protective barrier shook continuously, naturally understanding that his side was under attack.
Even though the intensity of the attack was not shocking, not knowing how the attack came or where it originated still caused a sliver of vigilance to arise in his heart.
But as mentioned before, he was not in his true body, so he had nothing to fear.
"Keep moving."
Gerard walked forward first.
After passing through the hall-like area before them, the three arrived at a deeper part of the ruins and reached a fork in the road.
Upon arriving here, Gerard asked Olivia: "Miss Stella, how do we reach the path to the treasure? You must lead the way."
Olivia nodded: "Please follow me."
She chose the path on the left and walked down it, unhurriedly.
Although this was her first time here, the magic mirror had long ago provided hints on how to proceed and which areas to head toward, allowing her to act as if she had been here before.
Along the way, ghosts continued to attack them, causing the barrier to shake incessantly, but they could not overcome them.
It was not until they had traveled for quite some time and crossed several forks in the road that Olivia brought them to their destination.
Before them lay a vast area.
The scene presented before them in this area was golden, as a large amount of gold, silver, and jewels were placed here, emitting a brilliance so dazzling that it was almost enough to blind one's eyes.
When he saw the vast quantity of gold, silver, and jewels, Gerard's eyes immediately lit up, and even his heartbeat accelerated quite a bit.
Freya, who came from a background as a pirate, also had her eyes light up instinctively, with a trace of longing revealed deep within her gaze.
The amount of gold, silver, and jewels here was immense. If they could all be taken out, it would surely be exchanged for an incredibly substantial fortune.
But in reality, all of this was fake; it was a mirage.
It was an illusion, but the quality of the illusion was extremely high. Even though Olivia possessed the specialized Eye of Discernment, she had to actively activate it and stare for a considerable amount of time before the gold, silver, and jewels would vanish to reveal the true scene.
The so-called gold, silver, and jewels were actually just piles of bone-white remains, stacked here like a mountain, icy and cold.
It was clearly a hellish scene, full of terror and horror, yet it had been painted over so beautifully that one careless step would be enough to make a person become part of these numerous remains.
