Some time later, two luxurious carriages entered Montesis, the capital city of the Marquisate of Lanier.
The wheels rolled over the cobblestone streets, which were bustling with people. It was far livelier here than in Caslant.
Meanwhile, inside the Marquis's mansion.
“Hurry, hurry! Tyr is coming back today.”
Inside the palatial villa of the Marquis's mansion, Ivelina, who was already dressed, put on her earrings while urging Lanier to hurry up and change his clothes.
After leaving the Sword Prison, Tyr had contacted the Laniers using a communication crystal.
Based on Tyr's itinerary from their communication the previous night, Ivelina deduced that they should have already arrived in Montesis and would likely reach the Marquis's mansion shortly.
Although Tyr had been raised with a hands-off approach since childhood, that did not mean Lanier and Ivelina did not love him.
On the contrary, they deeply cherished their son.
It had been seven years since they last saw each other. With today being their first meeting in seven years, Ivelina felt an indescribable nervousness deep down.
“I know, Ivelina. Don't worry.”
Lanier was pushed toward the bedroom by Ivelina. Having been a loving couple for many years, he naturally understood her feelings and comforted her softly.
“Not worry? Tyr is probably already approaching the mansion gates! Do you want to leave your son waiting outside for our first meeting in seven years?”
“Or do you plan on meeting him in those casual clothes?”
Ivelina glared at Lanier from behind, her tone a bit fierce.
“Oh, Ivelina, listen to me. Tyr is our son. I think wearing casual clothes makes us seem more approachable. If we dress too formally, it might make him feel a sense of distance.”
Lanier's perspective was the exact opposite of Ivelina's. In his eyes, they were family, so they should dress in whatever way was most comfortable.
After all, one only obsessed over etiquette when meeting strangers, right?
“Even so, you can't go see him in your training gear, smelling of sweat!”
Ivelina admitted Lanier had a point, but the problem was that he had just finished practicing his swordsmanship and looked far too disheveled.
Even if they wanted to dress casually, he shouldn't be this sloppy.
When they entered the bedroom, Ivelina immediately dismissed the servants.
There was no time for Lanier to take a bath, so Ivelina directly cast a cleaning spell on him.
In an instant, Lanier felt as if he had been purified. The sweat and grime on his body vanished the moment the magic made contact.
“This outfit? No... What about this one?”
Ivelina hurried to the wardrobe and took out Lanier's clothes one by one. After sizing them up, she would put them back unsatisfied and pull out the next set.
“What if we change into the clothes we used to wear back in Wayne Village to welcome Tyr?”
Watching Ivelina continuously search for clothes, Lanier rubbed his chin and suddenly suggested.
Ivelina's hand froze as she held a piece of clothing. She realized that this was actually a great idea.
“Then go change. I'm going to change my clothes as well.”
Ivelina planned to take off her luxurious, custom-made gown and put on the one she wore in Wayne Village.
“Wait, wait, don't! I was just joking, and besides, there's no time for that now.”
Lanier had only said it in passing. Given the complexity of women's clothing, Tyr would probably have arrived long before Ivelina finished changing.
Ivelina wouldn't be able to achieve what she wanted—to greet Tyr the very moment he arrived at the Marquis's mansion.
“It's all your fault. If you had such a good idea, why didn't you say so earlier?”
Ivelina paused her movements and gave Lanier a reproachful glare.
Not sooner, not later, but he just had to bring it up when it was already too late.
Wasn't he just trying to annoy her?
“It's fine, we can look at it from another angle. When Tyr was in Wayne Village, he always thought he was just a commoner, and he has never lived the life of a Marquis's young master.”
“If we dress up in our finest attire, won't it give him a clearer sense of how much his status has changed now?”
Seeing that Ivelina was slightly displeased, Lanier's mind raced for an excuse.
“You always have an answer for everything.”
Ivelina gave Lanier a displeased look before turning back to search for his clothes.
“My dear, please hurry up. I feel like we're running out of time,” Lanier said as he watched Ivelina continue to sift through his wardrobe.
“Then you should have changed earlier.”
“Uh...”
Lanier rubbed his nose. He had never expected it to be such a hassle. In his plan, after finishing his sword practice, he would just use a cleaning spell to wash off the dirt, pick out a decent outfit, and be done with it.
How could it possibly take this long?
Perhaps realizing they were short on time, or perhaps having finally found a satisfactory outfit, Ivelina pulled out a handsome black set of clothes and handed them to Lanier.
“Let's go with this one.”
“Alright, this one it is.”
Seeing that Ivelina had finally chosen a satisfactory outfit, Lanier let out a sigh of relief.
He quickly changed into the clothes, and the two of them ran out of the Marquis's mansion.
“Lord Marquis.”
“My Lady.”
Seeing the two of them rushing out in such a hurry, their maids quickly followed.
On the other side, Tyr and his group had also arrived outside the Marquis's mansion.
“Brother Tyr, are you nervous?”
Sevira keenly noticed Tyr subconsciously clenching his hands. Having known Tyr for so long, she had never seen him like this.
“Yes. We haven't seen each other in seven years, and now that the moment is finally here, I really am a bit nervous.”
When it came to a long-awaited reunion, Ivelina and Lanier were far from the only ones feeling anxious.
“Hey, kid, they call this 'apprehension before homecoming,'” Ao Chen said, stroking his long whiskers with his claw as he rested on Tyr.
“Stop showing off your idioms at a time like this.”
Tyr was utterly speechless. He was busy trying to figure out what kind of opening line to use for their meeting, yet this guy was here causing a distraction.
Soon, the carriage stopped outside a magnificent estate.
“Young Master, we have arrived.”
Tyr looked up and saw Ivelina and Lanier standing at the entrance of the estate through the carriage window.
Seven years had passed, yet their appearances had not changed in the slightest.
At this moment, seeing Tyr's carriage, the Lanier couple could not suppress the excitement on their faces.
How could they not miss their son after seven years apart?
Under their expectant gazes, the two carriages stopped one after the other in front of the Marquis's mansion gates.
Click.
Opening the door, Tyr stepped down from the carriage.
