Chapter 47 · Volume 1

Fishing

As his magic power continuously blended with the outside world, Tyr could feel the weight, speed, and angle of every inch of water crashing against his skin.
In his perception, the stream was no longer just a flowing, lifeless object, but a self-contained system.
Tyr began trying to integrate himself into the motion and stillness of the stream, imagining himself becoming a part of it.
Nearby, Sevira's attention had already been drawn to him the moment magic power began to emanate from Tyr's body.
From her perspective, Brother Tyr had suddenly stopped in his tracks. He closed his eyes, and magic power seeped from his body.
“These are the magic circuits of 《Baina》.”
Having just watched Ed's demonstration, Sevira was naturally familiar with these magic circuits.
Soon, she saw Tyr move.
Tyr took a step forward, approached the nearest silverline flying fish, and thrust the wooden stick in his hand into the water with a sudden strike.
Splish!
As the wooden stick broke the surface of the water, Sevira could see a silverline flying fish impaled on it, wriggling.
Sevira watched this scene in astonishment. Had he really caught it just like that?
The silverline flying fish hadn't even fled when Brother Tyr approached, as if it hadn't noticed him at all.
No, wait. Suddenly realizing something, Sevira looked down at the water surrounding Tyr's shins.
Having caught his first fish, Tyr was now moving toward a second one.
Sevira stared at the water, shocked to find that as Tyr moved, the surface of the water around his legs didn't change in the slightest.
Even though Tyr was standing right in the stream, his body seemed more like a projection, completely avoiding any conflict with the current that would disrupt the water's surface.
“Baina.”
Recalling that Tyr had just constructed the magic circuits of 《Baina》 within his body, Sevira understood instantly.
By now, Tyr's fishing endeavor was well underway. He took a few steps toward another silverline flying fish and thrust his wooden stick into the water. When the stick emerged, not a single splash was made, nor did any ripples form. Only a silverline flying fish wriggled at the tip of the stick.
The speared silverline flying fish were completely bewildered. In their perception, nothing had approached them at all; there was only the continuous flow of the stream.
They hadn't noticed anything amiss in their surroundings until their bodies were impaled by the wooden stick.
Silverline flying fish: This is absurd.
Soon, the anomaly on Tyr's side caught the attention of the other reserves in the stream.
As the strongest reserve of this generation, whenever the others faced a difficult problem, they would subconsciously look to Tyr to see how he solved it.
And so, they witnessed Tyr leisurely spearing fish as if taking a stroll.
Compared to how the fish bolted the moment anyone else drew near, these silverline flying fish treated Tyr almost as if he were one of them, not even attempting to flee until they were speared.
Soon, they noticed that Tyr's movement speed was increasing. He was clearly just walking, yet his speed was ridiculously fast.
After gaining a basic grasp of integrating himself into the water's flow, Tyr also tried to integrate himself into the wind to boost his speed.
“That's Baina! He already knows how to use it?!”
The other reserves stared in disbelief. He had only watched Instructor Ed's demonstration once, and he had already mastered it?
But soon, connecting the dots with Tyr using 《Baina》 to catch fish, they understood Instructor Ed's true intention.
He wanted to use the silverline flying fish in the stream to train the reserves in 《Baina》.
If they couldn't master 《Baina》, they really might go hungry for the next three days.
While the instructors wouldn't actually stand by and watch them starve to death, they would at most provide just enough to keep them from dying.
At that thought, many reserves shivered and began attempting to construct the magic circuits of 《Baina》 within their bodies.
In fact, the moment Silas and his two companions noticed Tyr's state, they had immediately set to work constructing the magic circuits.
However, these magic circuits were not easily built. Most of the reserves couldn't grasp the essence at all. Let alone constructing a complete circuit, most of them saw their magic power collapse before it even reached halfway through the path.
“Phew!”
Holding more than a dozen silverline flying fish in his hands, Tyr stopped in his tracks.
Beads of sweat trickled down his forehead as an uncontrollable wave of exhaustion washed over his entire body. The magic power inside him was completely depleted.
Tyr realized that when using 《Baina》, the more natural forces he integrated with, the faster his magic power was consumed. His physical stamina and mental energy were also draining at an accelerated rate.
He hadn't felt it while in the state of Baina, but now that the magic circuits had dispersed, Tyr suddenly felt as if the energy in his body had been completely vacuumed out. His knees buckled, and he pitched forward.
Just as Tyr was about to fall, a figure flashed before him. Avia appeared in front of him, catching him in her embrace.
Since Tyr had already caught so many silverline flying fish and was completely out of magic power, his training session was effectively over. Thus, Avia's intervention did not count as interfering with the training.
Avia picked Tyr up, secured the silverline flying fish with her magic power, and walked over to an open clearing.
Several tents had already been set up in the area. Avia laid Tyr down inside one of them to rest, then took the fish he had caught and went outside.
Feeling the deep exhaustion throughout his body, Tyr rolled over and fell fast asleep.
Sometime later, Tyr was awakened by a savory aroma.
Grumble...
After the morning's heavy drain on his physical strength and magic power, Tyr was now absolutely starving.
“Young Master, the fish soup is ready. Would you like to get up and have some?”
The moment Tyr woke up, Avia noticed. She walked into the tent carrying a bowl of fragrant, steaming fish soup.
“Yes.”
Tyr nodded, sat up, and took the bowl of fish soup from Avia's hands.
He took a slow sip. A rich, savory flavor exploded in his mouth. The fish meat was tender and fresh, and the soup was wonderfully flavorful.
Both Avia's culinary skills and the quality of the silverline flying fish's meat were absolutely impeccable.
Once the bowl of fish was in his stomach, Tyr felt a warm current surge through his body, giving him an indescribably comfortable sensation.
“Another bowl, please.”
Tyr handed the empty bowl back to Avia, stood up, and walked out of the tent.
Outside, several maids had set up pots and were currently brewing fish soup.
Having Tyr as an example, many of the other reserves had begun trying to use Baina to catch fish. Although they couldn't wield it as effortlessly as Tyr, they had all managed to make some catches.
