Chapter 15 · Volume 1

Medicinal Bath

In front of the experimental table, an old man was bowing his head, tinkering with the bottles and jars on it.
“Go to the second floor, the first room.”
The old man looked up and glanced at Tyr. A new face. He must be the newcomer who had beaten up the Letitia and Silas siblings right after arriving yesterday.
“Oh, thank you.”
Tyr thanked him and turned to walk toward the second floor.
“Heh, a polite little fellow.”
The old man chuckled softly and lowered his head to continue working on the potions in his hands.
Upon arriving on the second floor, he found two rooms here.
Tyr pushed open the door of the first room and walked in. It was a massive medicinal bathhouse.
Looking up, he saw bath barrels lined up in the room. They were filled with a cyan medicinal liquid that emitted a faint, pleasant fragrance.
“Tsk, you sure came early.”
A harsh voice sounded. Tyr turned his head and saw Silas pushing open the door and walking in.
Letitia, who had been with him yesterday, was not present. She had probably gone to the other room.
One naturally couldn't wear clothes during a medicinal bath, so boys and girls were naturally separated.
Giving him a faint glance, Tyr didn't pay him much attention.
Being ignored like this by Tyr, Silas immediately felt a surge of anger. However, remembering where they were, Silas ultimately suppressed his anger.
If he dared to spill the medicinal liquid here, the old man downstairs wouldn't be as genial as he looked.
While it wouldn't actually harm them, it would definitely leave them with a memory so hair-raising that even thinking about it would make their skin crawl.
“Heh, I hope you can stay this calm later.”
As if thinking of something, a cold smirk curled at the corner of Silas's mouth.
He had no intention of using the pharmacist downstairs to deal with Tyr. Experts weren't stupid. Even if he found a way to make Tyr knock over the medicinal bath, he wouldn't escape punishment himself.
Tyr frowned slightly. He didn't think Silas was someone who would cry wolf. Coupled with the faint, indistinct screams he had heard outside the pharmacy yesterday, this medicinal bath was likely not going to be simple.
Over the next half hour, the other reserves arrived one after another.
Tyr did a rough count. There were about twenty-odd people, and that was just the number of boys.
About ten minutes later, a man exuding the fresh fragrance of herbs walked in.
Although there was no murderous aura radiating from him, and he couldn't compare to either yesterday's chief instructor or the burly man from later, Tyr instinctively felt that this person was very dangerous.
He did not doubt his own judgment.
Naturally, none of those tasked with nurturing the next generation of heirs for Grand Duke Callis here were simple.
“Seeing as a newcomer arrived yesterday, I will state the rules of the medicinal bathhouse once more.”
Tyr could clearly feel the man glance toward him when he mentioned the newcomer.
“Once the medicinal bath begins, everyone must submerge their entire bodies in the medicinal bath barrels, including your heads. Only when the effects of the medicinal bath fade can you emerge from the barrels.”
“If anyone comes out early, then I'll just have to give you a hand.”
Although this rule was mainly directed at Tyr, the man still swept his gaze over everyone in the room as he spoke.
Submerging the entire body in the medicinal bath barrel... It seemed one could breathe within this medicinal bath. In a world of swords and magic, this wasn't anything to be surprised about.
However, hearing the man's words, seeing his gaze, and recalling Silas's earlier remarks, it seemed the experience of soaking in this medicinal bath wouldn't be as beautiful as it appeared on the surface.
“Begin.”
As the man's voice fell, the children in the bathhouse began to swiftly strip off their clothes.
Of course, not everyone's movements were swift. Tyr noticed that several children were moving extremely slowly, looking very much like old men with one foot in the grave.
“Ah!”
Just then, Tyr suddenly heard a scream.
Looking in the direction of the sound, the one screaming was Silas.
The corner of Tyr's mouth twitched. Just now, this guy had looked like he was waiting to watch Tyr make a fool of himself, so Tyr had thought Silas would be able to hold it in.
By the way, if their entire bodies were submerged in the medicinal bath, how was the screaming sound being transmitted?
Screams soon echoed one after another in the bathhouse. Tyr also took off his clothes and stepped one foot directly into the barrel.
The moment his skin came into contact with the medicinal liquid, Tyr instantly felt an unbearable, excruciating pain wash over him.
His pupils contracted sharply. Tyr's body did not pause; he stepped his other foot in as well, and immediately afterward, his entire body submerged directly into the medicinal bath.
An unparalleled, intense pain surged from all over his body. Tyr felt as if countless steel needles were repeatedly piercing through him.
Holy shit, this agonizing sensation is fucking unreal.
Veins bulged on Tyr's forehead, his muscles tensed all over, and his teeth ground together with a creaking sound, yet he stubbornly did not make a single sound.
In the room, the man glanced over at Tyr in surprise.
He really hadn't expected that Tyr, soaking in the medicinal bath for the first time, would have such a reaction.
At the end of the day, the ones here were still a group of children, and moreover, noble young masters and ladies who had been pampered since childhood. When taking their first medicinal bath, they basically acted as if they were dying.
“If you don't hurry up and soak in, don't blame me for taking matters into my own hands.”
Seeing nothing unusual on Tyr's end, the man turned his gaze to the remaining few children who were dragging their feet.
“I... I'm going in right now.”
The few of them looked at the bath barrels in front of them, their faces filled with reluctance, and their voices trembled as they spoke.
Despite their extreme reluctance to enter, under the man's highly oppressive gaze, they still hurriedly stepped inside.
“Ahhh!!!”
Shrill screams rang out. The moment they entered the barrels, they sprang right back up.
But just as they poked their heads out of the barrels, a sudden wave of magic power rippled from above, and they were forcibly pressed back down by a powerful force.
The boys thrashed wildly in their bath barrels, but no matter how they struggled, their bodies could not break free from the medicinal bath.
Silas, who was currently in agonizing pain, heard the sound of splashing water. Thinking that Tyr had been suppressed by the man and was bound to be in an embarrassing state, he poked his head out of the bath barrel, wanting to see Tyr's comical misery.
However, as his gaze swept around, he found that Tyr was not among the few who were being held down.
Before he could even wonder why Tyr wasn't there, a wave of magic power suddenly surged from above, and Silas was pushed right back down.
“I—Ah! Ah! Ah!”
Silas wanted to swear, but the words quickly turned into screams as they reached his mouth.
Although he had been here for a while, he still couldn't get used to the pain of this medicinal bath.
