“Elsa! What are you doing?! Hurry up and stop them!”
Derry's shouting startled many of the reserves who had not yet left the dormitory. Quite a few pushed open their doors to look outside.
Upon seeing the Enforcement Squad standing in front of Derry, several reserves from higher-status families wore looks of disdain, their eyes filled with contempt and schadenfreude as they looked at him.
For the Enforcement Squad to intervene during their time at the Sword Prison, it could only mean that Derry's family had violated the rules of the Grand Election.
“A useless piece of trash who hasn't even stepped into the First Circle after being at the Sword Prison for so long. As expected, his family is nothing respectable either.”
On the dormitory building to the side of where Derry stood, a young boy sat on a windowsill, playing with a dagger in his hand.
Naturally, the boy was not the only one who looked down on Derry. The top-ranked individuals in the Sword Prison basically shared the same sentiment.
House Callis had stood in the empire for thousands of years. Every generation's successor to the title of Grand Duke Callis was capable of reaching the Demigod realm. Yet, there were always fools who thought they could hide things from Grand Duke Callis, who practically ruled the eastern part of the empire with an iron fist.
Derry was already scared out of his wits by the situation. But the members of the Enforcement Squad did not care about that. One of them stepped forward, lifted Derry up with a single hand, and nodded to his companion. The two then walked toward the exit of the Sword Prison.
Every time a descendant violated the rules of the selection, they would be executed and hung in the most prominent place in the Sword Prison as the most direct warning to all the reserves.
Do not harbor thoughts you shouldn't have; the Enforcement Squad has the ability to uncover everything.
“No, Elsa, save me!”
Tears and snot streamed down Derry's face. Even Baron Kaz would tremble in fear before the Enforcement Squad, let alone Derry, who was still just a child.
Faced with Derry's crying and pleas for help, Elsa simply stood in place, not even sparing him a glance.
Perhaps finding Derry's voice too noisy, the Enforcement Squad member carrying him reached out and choked him, preventing him from making any sound.
Derry was taken away by the Enforcement Squad. No one pitied him.
It didn't matter if this was done by his parents and he himself was unaware.
If the plot had succeeded, Derry would have been the biggest beneficiary regardless of whether he knew about it.
Accordingly, now that his family's actions had been exposed, he had to suffer the punishment regardless of his knowledge.
Only when the punishment was sufficiently extreme would those with active schemes dare not stretch out their hands.
...
While Baron Kaz's family was being dealt with, Tyr had already entered the largest magical beast mountain range in the Grand Duchy of Callis—the Dragonfall Mountain Range—by carriage.
It was said that a giant dragon had once fallen here, which was how the Dragonfall Mountain Range got its name.
The Sword Prison of House Callis was built in the deepest depths of the Dragonfall Mountain Range.
Once they entered the Sword Prison, leaving privately without a token from the instructors was as difficult as ascending to heaven.
If nothing else, the magical beasts in the Dragonfall Mountain Range alone could tear them to shreds.
“Ding~ Ding~”
A bell-shaped golden chime hung outside Tyr's carriage. As the carriage moved, the golden chime produced a crisp sound.
This sound carried a certain magic, calming the surrounding magical beasts that had grown restless upon seeing a carriage intruding.
The carriage leisurely passed through the outer regions of the Dragonfall Mountain Range and entered its depths.
Before long, the carriage finally arrived outside the Sword Prison.
The carriage door opened, and Avia helped Tyr step down.
Turning his head, a massive, octagonal, bastioned black fortress came into view.
The material used to construct the fortress was a type of black crystal Tyr had never seen before. It seemed to possess the ability to absorb light, making the surroundings of the Sword Prison appear even darker.
Compared to the Grand Duke's mansion, the atmosphere here was even more oppressive.
“Unrelated personnel are not permitted to enter the Sword Prison. Master Tyr, Lady Avia, you will have to go in on your own from here.”
The knight who had been driving the carriage jumped down and spoke respectfully to Tyr.
“Alright.”
“Then I shall take my leave first.”
After bidding farewell to the knight, Tyr walked toward the Sword Prison, with Avia carrying two large suitcases as she followed behind him.
“More newcomers have arrived.”
Along with a deep voice, a sturdy figure descended from the sky, landing right in front of Tyr.
The moment this person appeared, an extremely fierce and ominous aura rushed over.
Tyr's eyes narrowed. With such a massive amount of murderous aura, just how many people had this man killed?
However, having been an elite special forces soldier in his past life who had actually experienced the battlefield, although the newcomer's murderous aura made him uncomfortable, it did not frighten him.
Seeing that Tyr was not frightened by him at all, a look of satisfaction appeared on the man's face.
This was not him intentionally making things difficult for Tyr; rather, after years of campaigning and slaughter, such a presence had naturally formed around him.
Many of the children who had first arrived here had been scared to tears by him. Even the few with decent mental fortitude had subconsciously showed expressions of fear.
They were ultimately just a bunch of kids, so he wouldn't hold it against them.
However, Tyr, who was arriving here for the first time today, actually had absolutely no reaction to his murderous aura. This could not help but make him look at the boy in a new light.
The man placed a hand on Tyr's shoulder and leaped directly onto the wall of the Sword Prison with him.
Behind them, the maid Avia closely followed.
“Boss, why do you never use the main gate?”
As they leaped up, another burly man ran over.
He had been about to open the gate of the Sword Prison, only for the boss to jump right up with the kid.
“Why bother opening the gate for just one person? It's too much trouble.”
Opening and closing the gate once was enough time for him to jump up and down several times.
The man waved his hand and walked toward the stone steps, glancing back at Tyr just as he reached them.
“You are quite good.”
Behind him, the burly man looked at Tyr in astonishment.
How many years had it been? This was the first time he had ever heard the boss praise a child as “good.”
The man was named Ryder Callis, the Chief Instructor of the Sword Prison. He once held the title of “Blood Butcher.”
“Let's go, little guy. I'll take you to the dormitory first.” After walking down the wall, the burly man led Tyr toward the dormitory. “Since it's your first time here, you have a day to rest.”
A moment later, the burly man brought Tyr to a massive apartment building.
“This is your dormitory building. Whichever room you want to stay in, just go inside and pick any unoccupied one.”
“Remember to write your name on the wooden plaque outside the room.”
“Remember that low building we just passed? Gather there tomorrow morning at six o'clock.”
After saying this, the burly man felt he had explained everything that needed to be explained, so he turned and left.
