Chapter 25 · Volume 1

Directly Clashing with the Chaos Bell, Astounding the Innate Sacred Beings!

Zhurong was furious.
He felt that he and his fellow Ancestral Witches were being completely looked down upon.
Clearly, every single one of them was tall and burly, standing there like divine mountains, yet those damned Essence Soul cultivators acted as if they were invisible.
They ignored them, chatting away amongst themselves, and in just a few words had already divided up the spiritual root intended as a gift for Brother Xuanjian.
How could Zhurong not be angry at this?
In fact, not just Zhurong—all the Ancestral Witches were enraged.
When the Ancestral Witches grew angry, the consequences were dire!
“Scram!” Xuanming’s pretty face turned frosty. A Dao cold qi capable of freezing time and space burst from her body, instantly freezing the surrounding space and restricting the flow of time.
Xuanming said coldly, “This spiritual root belongs to our Wu tribe! Don't even dream of touching it!”
Only then did the gathered Daluos turn their attention to the Twelve Ancestral Witches and Xuanjian.
In their eyes, because the Ancestral Witches possessed no Essence Souls, they could not refine restrictions or leave Essence Soul imprints—making spiritual treasures no different from junk to them. Thus, they had naturally ignored them.
However, they had forgotten one thing: with the Ancestral Witches' tempers, how could they easily let others have their way?
“Fellow Ancestral Witches,” Dijun smiled warmly, his voice carrying a subtle persuasion. “You possess no Essence Souls, so giving the spiritual treasures to you would be useless anyway. Why not yield the gourds to us and forge a good karmic relationship?”
“So what?!” Gonggong snapped, pointing at Dijun and cursing fiercely. “Why do I find you mixed-feathered bird so damn irritating? So what if our Wu tribe has no Essence Souls? So what if we can't use spiritual treasures? If we can't use them, can't we bloody eat them?!”
Dijun: “...”
The smile froze on Dijun's face. He had not expected his well-meaning words to be met with a barrage of foul language.
How could Dijun—born with the destiny of a sovereign and considering himself extraordinary—endure such an insult?
“Bastard!” Taiyi flew into a rage. The Innate Treasure held in his palm—the Chaos Bell—buzzed softly as Chaos Qi pervaded the air. A destructive force filled heaven and earth, suppressing time and space and aweing the myriad heavens. “You brute! How dare you be so insolent and humiliate my brother? How can I, Taiyi, tolerate you?!”
His brother had been insulted; how could the younger brother stand by?
“Bring it on!” Gonggong was equally enraged. He turned and pointed directly at Taiyi, shouting, “Bring it! Step out and fight me one-on-one! Do you think I, Gonggong, am afraid of you?!”
“You mixed-feathered birds—both of you are mixed-feathered birds!”
These two hot-tempered individuals clashed over a single disagreement, stepping to the side to brawl.
Seeing this, the crowd made no move to stop them, instead watching with great interest.
However, Gonggong at this period was truly no match for Taiyi.
Taiyi himself was at the late-stage Daluo realm, and with the Chaos Bell—an Innate Treasure boasting flawless offense and defense—by his side, he was inherently invincible. Not to mention, his destructive power far surpassed Gonggong's.
And what about Gonggong? He was only at the mid-stage Fourth Revolution of the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Art.
His physical body was comparable to a mid-stage Daluo, but when facing Essence Soul cultivators, he could normally pummel even late-stage Daluos without issue.
Yet all of Gonggong's attacks were completely blocked by the divine Chaos light cascading from the Chaos Bell, leaving Taiyi completely unscathed.
On the other hand, the Chaos Bell chimed repeatedly, locking down Gonggong and the space surrounding him. It pinned down Gonggong’s qi, leaving him with nowhere to run and no way to escape. With a heavy wham, the bell smashed down again and again, wounding Gonggong and making him bleed with every strike.
“Heh!” Taiyi hovered high in the dome of the sky, his domineering golden eyes looking down at Gonggong. He sneered, “It is rumored that the physical bodies of the Ancestral Witches are invincible. Looking at it now, you are nothing special.”
Gonggong roared, “Aaargh! Just wait until I reach the Sixth Revolution! I'll knead this broken bell of yours into an iron ball!”
At the Fourth Revolution, his physical strength could contend with High-Grade Innate Spiritual Treasures.
However, this time Gonggong was clashing head-on with an Innate Treasure.
“Stubborn mouth.” Golden flames surged in Taiyi's eyes, dripping with killer intent. A terrifying Daluo pressure poured forth as his Daluo immortal mana flooded into the Chaos Bell. The bell chimed continuously, producing melodious, ancient sounds that echoed throughout the universe, striking fear into the Essence Souls of all who heard it.
Many of the Daluo Golden Immortals present were shaken by Taiyi's display.
Only Innate Sacred Beings such as the Three Purities, Nuwa, Fuxi, Minghe, and Zhenyuanzi remained calm and unruffled.
“Not good!” Dijiang's eyes narrowed. “That fellow wants to kill Gonggong!”
“Attack! Stop him!” Zhujiuyin shouted.
He and Dijiang acted simultaneously. The power of time and space swept across this realm of heaven and earth, seeking to block the descent of the Chaos Bell.
However, the Great Dao rules of Dijiang and Zhujiuyin were countered by the Chaos Bell. The bell's ability to suppress space and time left the two feeling as if they had fallen into a quagmire, unable to move freely. Even though Dijiang and Zhujiuyin forcibly broke through the Chaos Bell's suppression using their Ancestral Witch physical bodies, they were already too late.
Seeing the Chaos Bell about to smash into Gonggong's head...
Seeing Gonggong's head about to explode like fireworks...
Someone moved even faster than Dijiang and Zhujiuyin.
Xuanjian stepped forward, blocking the path in front of Gonggong. Facing the Chaos Bell laden with supreme suppressive power, Xuanjian showed no fear whatsoever. Raising his right hand, he clenched a fist. His blood qi and fiend celestial qi boiled as if he intended to clash against the Chaos Bell with his bare flesh.
“Foolish.” Seeing this, Taiyi snorted disdainfully, a cruel smile curling at the corner of his lips. “Even the Ancestral Witch body cannot withstand my Chaos Bell. A mere early-stage Daluo like you dares to stand in my way?!”
However, what happened next left everyone dumbfounded.
Xuanjian threw a punch.
There were no flashy effects—just a simple collision of fist against bell.
Xuanjian's fist slammed directly onto the outer wall of the Chaos Bell.
The moment they collided, an earth-shattering roar erupted, echoing up into the Nine Heavens and down into the Nine Netherworlds. The resulting shockwave rippled outward, collapsing layer upon layer of space beyond Mount Zhou—an utterly terrifying sight.
Xuanjian was knocked back hundreds of millions of li.
The Chaos Bell also flew back hundreds of millions of li, wobbling unsteadily.
A clash of powers with neither gaining the upper hand.
Fifty-Fifty!
“This...”
“Relying solely on physical strength to contend with an Innate Treasure... Could this person's physical body have already reached the Quasi-Saint realm?!” Taiqing Laozi narrowed his eyes slightly. His gaze, which should have been devoid of desires and emotions, now fluctuated with astonishment and doubt.
The Saint had only recently introduced the concept of the Quasi-Saint realm. For someone to have already cultivated their physical body to the Quasi-Saint realm meant this person was definitely extraordinary!
“Second Brother...” Dijun looked on in shock and uncertainty, glancing at Xuanjian, then at Taiyi, whose expression was completely dazed and pupils trembling with shock.
“Huh?” The injured Gonggong was completely bewildered. “Brother Xuanjian's physical body is even stronger than mine?!”
Zhurong didn't miss the chance to tease him: “Tell us something we don't know.”
“Brother, when the Dao Ancestor delivered his sermon, did you ever see this Daoist?” Nuwa asked Fuxi beside her, her beautiful eyes fixed on Xuanjian.
Fuxi shook his head. “No. I have an impression of all Three Thousand Red Dust Guests in Zixiao Palace, but this... Fellow Daoist Xuanjian, I truly have no memory of him appearing in Zixiao Palace.”
Nuwa became even more curious. “To have such power without having attended the Dao Ancestor's sermon... Just what is his background?”
Xuanjian shook his hand slightly and looked at Taiyi with a smile. “Fellow Daoist, it was merely a spar. Why resort to lethal blows?”
“We'll be seeing each other often in the future; how awkward would that be?”
“Give me, Xuanjian, some face. How about we call this matter off?”
Taiyi fell silent.
Dijun answered in his stead, “Then we shall defer to Fellow Daoist.”
“Good.”
Xuanjian turned back to look at the seven small gourds growing on the Innate Gourd Vine.
With a wave of his hand...
The first six gourds detached from the vine and floated in midair.
“Fellow Daoists, I only require the final purple-black gourd. As for the remaining six, you may split them amongst yourselves.”
[Ding! Host has completed the choice task. Reward: One hundred cubic units of Chaos Primeval Soil!]
Yes, that was right. Just a moment ago, Xuanjian had triggered the system's choice task right when Gonggong and Taiyi began their fight.
