The next day, Lu Yinghan received her school uniform. She changed into it in the school bathroom before walking out.
After heading to the principal’s office to pick up her textbooks, she finally made her way to the classroom.
She had traveled to school by herself that morning as well.
Lu Jiansen had left for work long before.
Under Butler Liu’s worried gaze, Lu Yinghan had walked to the bus stop on her own.
When she got off the bus, a few of her classmates happened to be stepping off at the entrance as well.
This only solidified their belief that Lu Yinghan came from an ordinary family.
The atmosphere in the classroom was even more subtle today.
Having witnessed Lu Yinghan getting on the bus yesterday, some kids spent the class turning around to look at her an absurd number of times.
Their constant backward glances eventually irritated Xie Chengsheng, who sat in front of her.
He looked up and glared fiercely at those students.
Instantly, all the eyes focused on Lu Yinghan vanished.
“Thank you...”
“Tsk, don't worry about it.”
...
Oh well. Lu Yinghan pursed her lips and shrugged, deciding to ignore Xie Chengsheng’s brisk attitude.
At least he had helped her out.
The rest of the day passed rather peacefully. The shock of Lu Yinghan riding the bus had faded significantly compared to yesterday.
Walking quietly toward the entrance of the estate, she noticed two cars parked outside.
Reflexively, Lu Yinghan darted behind a tree to hide, secretly spying on the situation at the front door.
Aside from Lu Jiansen, who had returned from work, the person stepping out of the second car...
...was the second son of the Lu family.
The head of a leading entertainment company.
A twenty-four-year-old success story—
Lu Yue.
Dressed in trendy, fashionable attire, one look was enough to tell he was a stylish, cool guy.
Dark sunglasses gave off a sharp, rebellious swagger.
“Yue-gege!!”
The front door of the villa swung open.
Lu Xuanyao trotted out excitedly, running right up to Lu Yue.
Lu Yue immediately pulled off his sunglasses and bent down, looking at his little sister with joyful, doting affection as she rushed toward him.
“Yaoyao~ Yue-gege is home!”
Scooping up the chubby little toddler, Lu Yue held her tight and breathed in her sweet baby scent.
“Hahaha! Yue-gege, that tickles!”
Lu Xuanyao giggled and squirmed away from Lu Yue’s affectionate nuzzling.
“Alright, head inside. Don't make a scene at the door.”
Lu Jiansen offered a rare smile, stepping forward to pat Yaoyao’s soft hair.
The two went inside, and the front door slammed shut behind them. The two cars outside drove straight into the garage and didn't come out again.
They had completely forgotten that Lu Yinghan existed.
Hiding behind the tree, Lu Yinghan quietly stepped out.
She stood in place, wrestling with whether she should go inside.
While she was still contemplating whether to enter, the front door opened once more.
Butler Liu stepped out, looking around with a hint of anxiety.
“Grandpa Butler!”
A heavy weight lifted from her heart in an instant.
Lu Yinghan trotted over to stand in front of Butler Liu.
“Oh, Miss! You’re finally back! Seeing that you hadn't returned, I came out to take a look.”
Butler Liu caught Lu Yinghan as she ran over, feeling much more at ease.
He had seen the warm scene of Little Miss and the young masters together clearly from inside.
And Miss had stepped out immediately after he came outside.
She must have been back for a while already.
Yet, unlike before, she hadn't rushed forward to vie for the young masters' attention.
“Miss, about dinner tonight...”
“Grandpa Butler, if they don't call for me, just bring it to my room.”
Lu Yinghan looked up with a gentle smile.
“Ah, alright, Miss.”
Butler Liu had adopted a more indifferent, go-with-the-flow attitude by now, nodding in agreement.
Returning to her room, Lu Yinghan pulled her homework out of her backpack and began working on it attentively.
Even after finishing her dinner, she continued working diligently on her assignments.
Deeply focused, Lu Yinghan was startled when her bedroom door suddenly burst open.
“Huh? Sister? What are you doing here?”
Lu Xuanyao was wearing a pristine princess dress, with the price tag still attached.
It was obviously a new outfit bought for her by Lu Yue.
Her stumbling upon Lu Yinghan's room was likely pure coincidence.
“Um, I’m doing my homework.”
Lu Xuanyao didn't understand what doing homework meant.
All she knew was that her eyes had locked onto the pen in Lu Yinghan’s hand and the workbook paper on her desk.
She toddled into Lu Yinghan’s room, stepping closer.
Her eyes stared straight at the pen in Lu Yinghan’s hand.
“Sister, what’s this?”
“This is a mechanical pencil. It’s very sharp and dangerous, so you shouldn't touch it.”
The tip of this mechanical pencil was even sharper than an ordinary one.
Lu Yinghan pulled the pencil away to keep it out of Lu Xuanyao’s reach.
Seeing the pencil move away, Lu Xuanyao pouted unhappily, shifting her attention to Lu Yinghan’s workbook.
“Sister, what’s this called?”
“It’s a workbook.”
“Oh. Sister, can I take a look at this workbook?”
Lu Yinghan nodded and handed the workbook in her hand to Lu Xuanyao.
“Wow~”
Lu Xuanyao couldn't read it, but that didn't mean she didn't like it.
This unique notebook was completely different from the ones Daddy had bought her.
“Sister, I really like this! Can you give it to me?”
“Yaoyao, I can give you anything else, but not this. This is my school homework...”
Troubled, Lu Yinghan stepped forward, trying to pull her workbook from Lu Xuanyao’s hands.
Lu Xuanyao bolted out of the room like a wild horse off its leash.
Lu Yinghan’s brow furrowed tightly.
She immediately jumped off her chair and chased after Lu Xuanyao.
Lu Xuanyao wore a bright, triumphant smile, looking like someone who had just claimed a prize.
But with her short little legs, how could she outrun Lu Yinghan?
Lu Yinghan quickly caught up and blocked her path.
“Be good, Yaoyao. Give it back to Sister.”
What a bizarre interest.
Of all the things to like, why a homework workbook?
“No! I got it, so it’s mine!”
Lu Xuanyao hugged the workbook—which was still a bit large for her—tightly to her chest, hunching over so Lu Yinghan couldn't touch it.
Even so, Lu Yinghan managed to grab the edge of the workbook through a gap in her arms.
The two of them began tugging back and forth over the workbook in the hallway...
“Ngh... ngh! It’s mine!!”
Lu Xuanyao was on the verge of tears from frustration, her voice filled with indignant protest.
“Yaoyao, be good!! Give it back to Sister!”
Lu Yinghan didn't dare pull too hard, slowly tugging it out of her hands bit by bit.
The moment the workbook was freed from Lu Xuanyao’s arms, the little toddler flopped straight down onto her bottom on the floor.
Failing to get what she wanted—and having it snatched back from her arms by her sister—Lu Xuanyao burst into aggrieved tears.
She cried as loudly as she possibly could.
Her wails echoed throughout the entire villa.
“Yaoyao!!”
He Shu and Lu Yue rushed out immediately.
Following the sound, they hurried into the hallway.
Heartbroken, He Shu scooped Lu Xuanyao up into her arms, gently stroking her head.
“What’s wrong, Yaoyao? Aw, don't cry, don't cry! Tell Mommy! What happened?”
Lu Xuanyao was crying so hard she was gasping for air.
Sobbing with red eyes, she pointed a pitiful, trembling finger at Lu Yinghan.
“S-Sister...”
Only then did the two notice Lu Yinghan standing on the opposite side.
Before Lu Xuanyao could even finish speaking, He Shu turned and glared viciously at Lu Yinghan.
“What are you doing?! What did you do to your sister?! Do you have no conscience at all?!”
