Duoze didn't spare another glance at the corpse on the ground. He slowly shifted his gaze toward Gexi and Grinya Loran, though most of his attention remained on Gexi.
The good news was that he didn't sense that dangerous aura unique to a god, which meant these two women had no connection to that unknown god.
But the bad news was that one of these two women seemed a bit troublesome to deal with.
"A saint-rank archmage?" Duoze said, his brow furrowing slightly.
"Gexi Maierche, the genius diviner from Talo Village," Gexi said with a provocative arch of her eyebrow.
She could see that Duoze was only level 46, giving her a natural advantage in attributes, so she didn't take him very seriously.
Duoze also noticed he was being underestimated, but he didn't get angry. Instead, he said quite casually, "How did you two find this place?"
"I told you I'm a diviner. Are you deaf?" Gexi said with a cold sneer.
A chill crept onto Duoze's face.
Seeing that Duoze was provoked, Gexi reached out to signal Grinya Loran to step back. "Be careful. A battle between saint-rank archmages is dangerous. Don't get caught in the crossfire."
Grinya Loran nodded. She was very confident in Gexi's strength.
After all, she had experienced it firsthand.
The terrifying pillar of light from back then was still a lingering shadow in her mind.
She was also self-aware of her own strength. Without Lord Xun Shen controlling her, she was a useless waste who couldn't do anything, so she wisely retreated from the scene.
With such a powerhouse protecting her, she felt quite at ease.
"I didn't say you could leave!"
Duoze watched Grinya Loran's retreating back and suddenly let out a cold snort. A blue-quality Life Star appeared out of thin air. The moment the ice-blue light flashed, the ground was instantly frozen, and a shadow struck toward Grinya Loran like a phantom!
Gexi was quick. A blue spherical lightning bolt from her crystal ball shot out, the pouring energy instantly clearing all the air currents in the vicinity.
Yesterday in the alleyway, Gexi couldn't show off her skills due to the restricted terrain, but in this open field, she could freely unleash her full strength.
The ice-blue shadow seemed to sense the danger and suddenly stopped and turned. Ice blades tore through the air, clashing against the powerful spherical lightning.
With a thunderous boom, Grinya Loran was so frightened by the terrifying momentum that she fell onto her backside.
If Gexi hadn't acted in time, she probably would have been reduced to a pile of fragments!
But even so, the residual shockwaves from the clash between saint-rank archmages still left her utterly shaken.
That was definitely not a battle she could interfere in. Just looking at it from a distance felt like a matter of life and death!
She didn't know how Lord Xun Shen had controlled her body to fight such a terrifying monster before, even forcing the opponent to use their full strength. In Grinya Loran's eyes, that was simply impossible.
The massive cloud of white dust cleared, revealing the true form of that ice-blue shadow.
It was a magical creature radiating the mana fluctuations of a saint-rank archmage. It stood over two meters tall and appeared very slender, composed entirely of cold frost-crystal. It emitted a faint chill, and its body shimmered with a pale blue light. Its two arms were curved like blades, their edges as sharp as the moon.
"A frost-crystal soldier?"
Gexi recognized the creature's race at a glance and shouted in surprise.
Shouldn't this kind of creature only appear in the extreme northern reaches, which were covered in snow and ice year-round? How could it suddenly appear here?
She seemed to realize something and looked at Duoze nearby with disbelief.
"You're a summoning mage?"
Duoze smiled and gave a non-committal nod.
Then, a pale blue Life Star appeared around him once more. Accompanied by a wave of scorching hot steam, a massive demon slowly stepped out of the pale blue spatial warp.
It was like a small mountain, its well-developed muscles glowing a bright red like molten lava, flickering with its breath. It held a massive battle axe in its hand that burned with an unquenchable fire, and every step it took caused the ground to melt.
Gexi's expression turned grim.
A war-flame troll, an extremely ferocious high-level demon race. Without a doubt, the aura it radiated was also that of a saint-rank archmage.
Two high-level demons at the saint-rank archmage level, with another saint-rank archmage watching like a hawk from the side...
Gexi realized that things had become quite troublesome.
A summoning mage was simply the most disgusting profession. Before everyone mastered world-ending power, a summoning mage was the only existence that could easily defeat an archmage of the same level through sheer numbers. As long as the summoning mage and their summoned creatures coordinated well, fighting above their level was not difficult.
Gexi took a deep breath and tightened her grip on the crystal ball.
She was ready to activate her angel form at any moment.
"G-Gexi..." Grinya Loran looked at her with worry.
"Don't worry, I'll do my best to hold them back," Gexi said in a calm tone. "Just charge forward and don't look back."
"Is that so? But from what I can see, three saint-rank combatants are the limit of what you can handle. Don't forget, a saint-rank archmage has a total of four summoning slots! In other words, I can still summon two more demons!" Duoze said with a savage grin.
As his words fell, two green Life Stars appeared simultaneously. Two extremely hideous demons crawled out from within, baring their claws and fangs at Gexi.
Although these two demons were relatively weak, they were still at the spirit-rank level (Level 20-30).
Gexi froze, and her expression instantly collapsed.
She turned her head toward Grinya Loran with some embarrassment.
"Um... how about you don't run? Stay and help me out a bit?"
Grinya Loran: "..."
"Are you serious, sister? I'm only a top-tier mage. Those are two spirit-rank demons. How am I supposed to help you?"
"I understand your difficulty, but my limit is three saint-ranks. If you don't help me, I'm going to drop dead right here," Gexi told her very seriously.
Grinya Loran's mouth twitched as she looked at the two spirit-rank demons, her heart trembling with fear.
"So you mean you want me, a top-tier mage, to fight these two spirit-rank demons?"
Gexi nodded heavily.
Grinya Loran lowered her head and fell into a long silence.
