"NPCs these days are getting harder and harder to lead."
Coming out of Deli's candy house, Grinya stood at the shop entrance, silently listening to the Evil God's grumbling.
"Taking a quest is such a hassle. I have to guide them line by line. In the past, I'd just press an interaction key and the NPC would be begging me to solve their problems. Only the NPCs in this game are this troublesome."
Lu Xun was truly annoyed by why this game insisted on making simple things so complicated.
Why couldn't it just be a simple Q&A? The NPC didn't need to have so much deep thought at a time like this!
Furthermore, after wasting all that time going back and forth, that useless NPC hadn't even provided a single helpful clue.
All she said was that it was a very young and powerful female mage wearing a vintage-style magic hat.
Where was he supposed to find someone based on just that? He might as well set this quest aside and do some other simple ones first.
Just as Lu Xun was about to open the map again to find the next quest, his perspective suddenly zoomed in on a specific spot.
A young girl was walking stealthily down the street. Although she was doing her best to hide her presence, Lu Xun noticed her immediately due to the perspective close-up. Most importantly, she was wearing a magic hat.
What concerned Lu Xun the most, however, was the tag above her head:
【Saint Gexi Maierche (lv49)】
This familiar name instantly triggered some unpleasant memories.
Wasn't this the jerk who tried to drag him to the Sin Hunting Bureau back then!
To run into her again in a place like this, he really was quite unlucky.
But this close-up had to mean something. The fact that he saw this right after leaving the shop meant...
Lu Xun's eyes narrowed.
A young female mage, level 49, wearing a vintage-style magic hat...
"So the one who stole the candy was you!"
"Well, well! You wanted to throw me in jail for stealing a few pieces of candy. I thought you were some paragon of justice, but now you're telling me you've stolen all the candy in Yiertaya?"
"Agh! You hypocritical dog, you're making me furious! I shall punish you on behalf of the residents of Yiertaya!"
Fuming with rage, Lu Xun manipulated the Peerless Fencer to follow her.

I am Mike Entak, a cultist.
I joined the Diao Cult not long ago and I am just a low-level lackey. However, because our numbers in Yiertaya have recently plummeted, I have somehow become a veteran member.
Of course, this is nothing to be happy about, because our stronghold in Yiertaya was wiped out...
But orders are orders, and the mission regarding the candy cannot be neglected, so we have been keeping a close eye on Deli's candy house lately.
However, some idiot showed up in the city recently who specializes in stealing those candies. I couldn't help myself and reported it to the Sin Hunting Bureau, but those damn hunters are a bunch of useless fools who couldn't even catch a single thief.
For some unknown reason, Deli's candy house seems to have gone out of business recently. This is bad news. If she doesn't sell candy, how are we supposed to spread the plague? I must report this to the priest immediately.
But just as I was walking away, I suddenly realized someone was following me. I'm very nervous. Have I been exposed?
No, I cannot be caught.
There is a very narrow and dark alley at the corner ahead that most people wouldn't notice. I'll duck in there and lose her!

I am Gexi Maierche, a brilliant genius diviner.
In our Talo Village, no one has more talent than me.
But having grown tired of everything in the village, I began to long for life in the big cities.
I heard that the Katar Kingdom has the strongest academic atmosphere and is the hall of knowledge for the entire continent. With the goal of self-improvement, I traveled a great distance to get here. But before I could even enjoy the city life or engage in heated academic discussions with esteemed academy professors, I ran out of travel funds.
The cost of living in the big city is just too high.
Of course, that isn't even the scariest part.
The scariest part is that there are actually traces of an evil god here. The big city is truly too filthy.
I had no choice. To save my own life, I had to find a way to deal with the things related to the evil god—those candies contaminated with the plague.
While dealing with the candy, I accidentally discovered they all came from a shop called Deli's candy house. So, I smashed the shop under the cover of night, took all the candy, and threatened to kill her if she dared to sell that tainted candy again.
I didn't expect the people from the Sin Hunting Bureau to try and catch me for it. I'm saving the world, for goodness' sake!
Of course, that isn't the key point I wanted to make. After focusing my attention on that candy shop, I realized the problem wasn't actually the shop owner, but the raw materials sent by the suppliers!
So, I have been watching these people lately. As expected, they are all cultists who seem to be plotting a massive, terrifying conspiracy.
To save the world, I must stop them.
I followed them all the way, hoping to find out who their boss is.
Everything was going fine during the tailing, but just now, I got a very bad feeling.
It seems I am being counter-followed!
It looks like this group of cultists actually has some skill. Did they discover me?
But I'm no pushover either.
The person following me doesn't have a very high level. I can deal with her easily. I'll find a deserted corner, and if she still dares to follow, I'll take her out in one go!

I am Lu Xun, a player.
I recently discovered a very interesting game. Although this game has various issues—like the map being too big, the plot being nonsensical, and NPCs having bugs—I have still fallen in love with it.
And right now, I am following an NPC with whom I have a bit of a grudge. That girl is a total double-standard hypocrite. A few days ago, she was all self-righteous about throwing me in jail for stealing candy, yet she turned around and stole from all of Yiertaya. As a proud gamer, how can I allow such a malicious NPC to ruin the game environment?
So I've decided to follow her quietly. As long as she stays off the main roads and chooses some deserted dark alleys, I'll ambush her immediately and eliminate this menace!
Even though my Peerless Fencer is a full 29 levels below this NPC, she has improved by leaps and bounds lately. I believe that with my peak mechanical skills, I can bridge any numerical gap.
A mere level 49 elite monster is something I can handle with ease!

I am Grinya Loran, a person who has been having a bit of a run of bad luck lately.
I still haven't quite figured out what the current situation is.
But based on my recent experiences...
There is a high probability that I am about to be unlucky again.
