When Yun Shu heard from the little fox that the Cultivation System had actively approached her to make a deal, her interest was instantly piqued.
“What does the Cultivation System want to trade for?”
“Hold on, let me check.” The little fox flipped through the messages sent by the Cultivation System again. “Huh? It says it wants to trade a Body Tempering Technique for your sweet potato, potato, and other crop seeds.”
“Your big brother, the Cultivation System, is quite greedy. It wants to exchange a single Body Tempering Technique for so many of my crop seeds?”
Yun Shu spoke with a half-smile.
“The Cultivation System has always been like this—greedy, petty, and extremely stingy.” The little fox scratched its head. “But it probably isn't ripping you off this time. The Body Tempering Technique is the most suitable martial art for ordinary mortals to practice. Although it won't allow them to summon wind and rain like true cultivators, it can still help them break through human limits, increasing their lifespan and combat strength.”
Saying this, a hint of confusion flashed in its eyes. “On the other hand, our sweet potatoes, potatoes, and other mortal crops are completely useless to the Cultivation System. Cultivators don't need to eat. Could it be that there's too little delicious food in the cultivation world, and it wants to try something new? I really couldn't tell it was such a glutton. For a bite of food, it even dares to do what the Great God strictly prohibits.”
The Great God allowed systems to trade with one another in private, but trading knowledge—anything in written form—was strictly forbidden.
This was because trading knowledge could rapidly advance the civilization of a minor world. For instance, if Yun Shu allowed the people of this minor world to learn the Body Tempering Technique, this world could upgrade from a low-level ordinary world to a high-martial world.
Yun Shu, of course, was not as naive as her system, believing the Cultivation System only wanted crop seeds out of gluttony.
“Tell the Cultivation System that I'll make the trade.”
Her eyelashes fluttered slightly, and she added, “Then tell it that I have the cultivation methods, and ask if it wants them.”
The little fox said guiltily, “Host, trading cultivation methods with the Cultivation System is a violation of the rules...”
If they got caught trading the Body Tempering Technique, it could still play dumb and pin all the blame on the Cultivation System.
But if they traded cultivation methods, there would be no escaping the consequences.
“System, we're already dancing on the Great God's head with everything we do now. There's no turning back anyway, so we might as well be straightforward and make a scene.”
“Who knows? It might even give us a few more chances of winning.”
Yun Shu rested her hands behind her head and lay directly down on the carriage couch, completely devoid of her usual Divine Lady posture.
The little fox was still a bit hesitant.
Yun Shu looked at the little fox and coaxed it gently, “You've been squeezed by the Cultivation System plenty of times, haven't you? Don't you want to take this chance to make a fortune off it and make it bleed for once?”
The little fox immediately recalled how it had once worked like a dog for the Cultivation System for three months, only for the stingy system to give it a single Protection Amulet of the lowest grade.
“Host, you're right! We must fleece it!” It scrambled over to the system panel, its tiny paws tapping rapidly on the keyboard as it sent all the talking points Yun Shu had taught it to the Cultivation System.
After some negotiation.
The little fox raised its head excitedly. “Host, I managed to trick some information out of the Cultivation System! Its host ran into trouble, and they urgently need planting methods right now!”
“It also said it's willing to buy them for 36,731,001.10 points, which is all the points it can muster.” It showed the chat interface to Yun Shu. “Host, do we sell?”
“Sell,” Yun Shu said without the slightest hesitation.
Since it even showed decimal points, it was obvious they had squeezed it dry. Squeezing any further wouldn't yield anything more anyway.
Exchanging the crops and planting methods for the Body Tempering Technique and a massive amount of Shock Value made her feel incredibly pleased.
It was a bargain, a total bargain!
“Host, are you really not eating this cake?” The little fox looked at the cake on the table that Yun Shu had bought for a high price, then at Yun Shu, who was engrossed in her book.
“You eat it. I don't like sweets.”
Yun Shu didn't even look up as she turned a page.
Seeing this, the little fox took a small bite. The cake was so delicious that it couldn't help but gobble it down in a few bites.
Just as it was feeling a bit guilty about greedily eating the whole thing, it suddenly received another message from the Cultivation System.
It said in surprise, “Host, the Cultivation System is asking if you want Body-Tempering Pills. It says these Body-Tempering Pills can alter a mortal's constitution, allowing everyone to learn the Body Tempering Technique!”
“Ask how many points it wants.” Yun Shu continued to flip through the Body Tempering Technique in her hands, the interest in her eyes growing stronger.
This Body Tempering Technique was indeed a good thing. Even if someone had no martial talent and couldn't fully master it, learning it would still strengthen their body.
Although she still didn't know how the Great God managed to reset a world where the unreal had been turned into reality, she understood one thing.
Lagging behind meant being passively beaten.
All fear stemmed from insufficient firepower.
She had to make the people of this world strong. Only by being strong could they have a say in negotiations.
Otherwise, she wouldn't even have the right to sit at the negotiating table, let alone stop the Great God from resetting the world.
The little fox's ears drooped. “Host, the Cultivation System says that if we give it 36,731,001.10 points, it can get you as many Body-Tempering Pills as you want in the future.”
“But it won't sell for even a single point less.” It gritted its teeth. “That smelly Cultivation System, it's definitely doing this on purpose!”
Hearing this, Yun Shu glanced up at the chat logs on the system panel. She stroked her chin. “Silly system, it was baiting you to raise the price on the spot. It seems your big brother, the Cultivation System, also has an expert guiding it from behind.”
“What?” The little fox looked shocked.
Yun Shu simply said, “Tell it I'll buy.”
The little fox reluctantly transferred the points, which had barely warmed up in its possession, back to the Cultivation System. The entire fox wilted.
It was all its fault. It didn't even realize it was being baited.
How could it be so stupid!
“Alright, it's fine. We didn't lose out anyway.” Yun Shu poured a Body-Tempering Pill from the porcelain bottle and popped it into her mouth like a jellybean.
“Silly system, do you want one?” She poured out another one and handed it to the sulking little fox.
The little fox turned to look at her, its eyes brimming with tears.
“It must be really bitter.”
It sniffled. “I'm not eating it.”
“It's sweet,” Yun Shu said.
The little fox reached out a paw to take the pill from Yun Shu's hand and put it into its mouth skeptically.
“It really is sweet!” Its eyes lit up.
Resting her chin on one hand, Yun Shu looked at it. “Silly system, can you find out who the Cultivation System is bound to?”
The little fox was somewhat puzzled.
“Host, why are you suddenly asking about this?”
Yun Shu rested her other hand on the small tea table, her fingertips lightly tapping the book. “The person guiding the Cultivation System from behind is clearly petty and highly protective.”
A trace of nostalgia suddenly flashed in her eyes. “This personality actually reminds me of someone. It's quite similar.”
“Similar to whom?” The little fox grew even more bewildered.
“My eldest brother.”
Yun Shu gently stroked the cover of the book. “He was incredibly petty. When I stole a lollipop from him as a kid, he remembered it for years. But he was a very good brother. If anyone made me unhappy, he would stand up for me to make me happy, even if it meant getting a severe beating from our parents.”
