Chapter 368 · Volume 1

Barren Soil Cannot Nurture Terrifying Existences

The Fate Typewriter was extremely excited. If its speculation was correct, then at this very moment, it was participating in a major historical event that could influence the course of the myriad realms.
This special experience of personally witnessing important history caused the soul of this mechanical creation to flash repeatedly, and its mechanical structure emitted crisp popping sounds from metal friction and compression.
Watching this, Chen Xu wondered if the Fate Typewriter had a short circuit.
Furthermore, from his soul perspective, the Fate Typewriter’s state was so hyperactive that Chen Xu thought it might be suffering from some kind of backlash.
Seeing this, the peculiar field surrounding them emitted a ripple. An invisible force struck the Fate Typewriter on the head, knocking it to the ground and making it snap out of its daze.
“Absolute Domain, what are you doing?!”
The Fate Typewriter quickly got up, rubbing its head and glaring ahead.
“Fate, watch your behavior. If there were no outsiders present, I wouldn't say anything even if you snuck into a human office to secretly suck up toner from a common printer. But now that Lord Chen Xu is here, I hope you can mind your actions and not bring shame to the Great Sage.”
“Ahem, what sneaking, what secret sucking? I have no idea what you're talking about.”
The Fate Typewriter tidied itself up slightly. With a series of clicking sounds, it transformed back into its typewriter form.
It controlled the little green man to sit back on its platen and spoke to Chen Xu.
“Lord Chen Xu, according to my recent testing, I discovered that after the fall of the world pseudo-spirit, the total amount of world origin produced actually increased by a full thirty percent.”
“Thirty percent! Although this world is only a small world, a thirty percent increase in world origin would normally take a full thirty thousand years to absorb from the void. And yet, after the death of this world pseudo-spirit, it could directly draw energy from the void, resulting in an instantaneous thirty percent explosion. It is simply... simply unbelievable!”
The Fate Typewriter’s emotions were still very high, making the little green man’s expressions and movements somewhat exaggerated.
Left with no choice, Chen Xu interrupted directly.
“The world origin increased by thirty percent. And then?”
“Lord Chen Xu, I wonder if you are familiar with the world classification theory?”
“Classification? Do you mean the four levels: small, medium, large, and giant?”
The little green man nodded and produced a pointer out of nowhere. Turning around, he tapped it against a blank spot on the typewriter’s body, looking like an old teacher.
Absolute Domain couldn't stand it anymore and secretly struck again. An invisible needle pierced the little green man’s backside, causing a wail of pain.
Snapped back to reality, the Fate Typewriter immediately dropped its lecturer persona and said apologetically.
“Lord Chen Xu, please forgive me. This is an occupational habit; I couldn't help myself.”
Chen Xu waved his hand, indicating that he didn't care about such formalities.
The Fate Typewriter controlled the little green man to take a few deep breaths, calming its emotions and sweeping away the scholarly behavior it usually displayed when answering readers' questions in the library.
After all, the person in front of him was no ordinary reader. Facing such a major client, he had to maintain a low profile.
“The world classification theory is indeed as you said: small, medium, large, and giant. The criteria for these four levels is the total amount of world origin.”
“A small world’s total origin can support the birth of Epic-tier beings.”
“A medium world corresponds to Legendary-tier beings.”
“A large world is for Mythic-tier.”
“And a giant world is for Eternal-tier.”
“As for the Unique-tier, the origin of a single world is no longer enough. Every powerhouse of the Unique-tier often possesses several worlds, relying on the supply of multiple worlds to achieve a breakthrough.”
“But what about Blue Star?”
“Blue Star, the world you hail from? That world of yours captured a massive amount of world fragments, and its total origin has long since increased to an extremely exaggerated level. That is why it could catalyze so many transcendents in bulk.”
“I see.”
Chen Xu signaled the Fate Typewriter to continue.
“High-tier transcendents cannot be born in low-tier worlds, just as robust life cannot grow in barren soil.”
“Therefore, the Great Sage once proposed a hypothesis. He assumed the myriad realms were a single, complete world, and he guessed that the reason the Unique-tier is the limit of transcendence is that the current world's foundation is insufficient to give birth to higher-tier existences.”
“Thus, throughout history, no matter how brilliant those Dao Lords were, they were limited by the world and their environment. To promote further, one must increase the world's level. And increasing the world's level means increasing the total amount of world origin.”
“And increasing the total amount of world origin normally relies on the special race of worlds silently absorbing energy from the void, growing slowly.”
The little green man finished and looked at Chen Xu.
Chen Xu understood what he was getting at.
“So, the Mother of Hell is creating these world pseudo-spirits because she wants to rapidly increase the total amount of world origin and then scheme for the realm beyond the Unique-tier?”
The little green man nodded, confirming the answer.
“Exactly. I can't think of any other answer. It seems the Mother of Hell already has an inkling of the next tier, but she's restricted by the environment and unable to break through. Now, she can't wait any longer. She wants to directly change the environment, transforming the myriad realms into a form that can accommodate her!”
The little green man spoke with absolute certainty, but Chen Xu didn't fully agree.
It wasn't that he didn't trust the Fate Typewriter, but as a Unique-tier powerhouse himself, he had some say in matters regarding cultivation realms.
Breaking through from the Mythic-tier to the Eternal-tier does require a significant amount of energy to change the essence of life, supplemented by the comprehension of Dao principles. Kunpeng, Sindragosa, and Zhenyuan—all these special units under Chen Xu—were like this.
However, the step from Eternal to Unique doesn't have much demand for energy accumulation; instead, it focuses more on the comprehension of Dao principles.
At the Unique-tier, Dao comprehension is even more critical. All of a Dao Lord's methods—whether offensive and defensive techniques used in combat or non-combat methods like forging—are extensions of Dao principles.
In most cases, one uses Dao principles to leverage energy rather than directly using one's own energy.
So, Chen Xu didn't fully believe the Fate Typewriter’s deduction. But he kept it in mind as a possibility.
Suddenly, a flash of insight hit him. Chen Xu seemed to have discovered a blind spot.
He looked down at the Fate Typewriter and asked a question that struck at the soul.
“Lord Fate, why do the Mother of Hell’s various actions give me the feeling that she is very familiar with and understands the Great Sage? Could it be that the Great Sage once had contact with the Mother of Hell?”
As soon as Chen Xu’s words fell, he clearly perceived that the souls of the Fate Typewriter and the other special creation, Absolute Domain, instantly froze, as if a secret had been discovered.
Inside the Fate Typewriter, a device invisible to the outside world quietly began to operate, emitting spatial ripples.
However, all these little movements were completely exposed under Chen Xu’s soul vision.
Seeing the abnormal behavior of these two relics of the Sage, Chen Xu felt a surge of secret joy. He hadn't expected that a random guess would yield such an unexpected harvest.
In the next second, that peculiar field pushed Chen Xu out. Immediately afterward, a strong spatial ripple erupted from within the Fate Typewriter.
A flash of light occurred, and the two vanished from the spot.
Chen Xu smiled slightly, opened a spatial gate, and returned to the Necrotic Dao Court.
Then, he offered a greeting to the dazed Fate Typewriter in front of him.
“Welcome to the Necrotic Dao Court, Lord Fate. I believe we still have much to discuss. Why don't we head to my castle? Allow me to show you some hospitality.”
