Chapter 360 · Volume 1

The Demons' Day of Suffering

Ghost Axe watched Sindragosa’s departing figure and asked Chen Yan without turning his head.
“Young Master Yan, Lord Kunpeng and Lord Sindragosa clearly have completely different personalities, and they even seem to be in a subtle rivalry. Why is it that the questions they ask are so strikingly similar?”
Ghost Axe was genuinely puzzled. These were two individuals from completely different extremes, yet both had asked the same question: “Is there an upper limit?”
Chen Yan thought for a moment before providing an answer.
“Perhaps it is out of loyalty.”
Hearing this, Ghost Axe suddenly turned his head to look at Chen Yan.
“Loyalty?”
“Yes. Out of their supreme loyalty to my father, Uncle Kunpeng and Aunt Sindragosa both want to prove themselves and compete to be the strongest powerhouse under his command.”
“Loyalty, huh?”
Ghost Axe scratched his head, feeling like he still didn't quite understand.
Sigh, forging was much simpler. High temperatures, metal, striking, and sweat—the simplest and most primitive things suited him better.
After a brief moment of reflection, Ghost Axe patted Chen Yan on the shoulder, hoisted his giant axe, and walked toward the Undead Heavenly Crafts.
“Let’s go, Young Master Yan. I have a feeling that in the coming period, the delivery rate of demon skeletons will skyrocket at a terrifying pace.”
“We should get ready and keep the furnaces burning to craft more secret treasure bases.”
“Otherwise, if too many demon skeletons pile up, it’ll easily affect the environment around the Undead Heavenly Crafts.”
“Didn’t our Lord recently set up some kind of... competition?”
“The Environmental Assessment.”
“Right, that’s it—the Environmental Assessment. If the demon skeletons pile up too much and exceed a certain amount, we’ll have to build a sealed warehouse for them. Otherwise, we’ll be flagged and lose points.”
As he spoke, Ghost Axe pulled a specially made soul cigar from the small leather pouch at his waist. He struck it sharply against his ribs to ignite it.
Then he put it in his mouth and took a deep drag. A large cloud of smoke was sucked into his skull, swirling around his soul fire and providing a unique, refreshing sensation to his spirit.
“Sigh, we’re all undead anyway. Why do we even need an Environmental Assessment?”
Faced with Ghost Axe’s complaint, Chen Yan spoke without hesitation.
“It might have something to do with the Land of the Undead. Father has been staying over there a lot lately and rarely comes back to the Dao Court.”
“Huh, now that you mention it, our Lord usually stays in the Dao Court or goes out. He rarely stays in the Land of the Undead.”
But before the two could continue their chat, several spatial gates opened atop the mountains of white bone near the Undead Heavenly Crafts.
Immediately after, demon corpses began to tumble out of the spatial gates.
Upon detecting the demon remains, a super-giant magic circle at the base of the bone mountains was activated.
Three layers of magical light curtains instantly manifested in the sky.
The first layer of the curtain filtered out and removed miscellaneous debris from the demon corpses.
The second layer stripped the rotting flesh from the remains, separating meat from bone.
The third layer evenly divided the demon bones into three parts: limbs, torso, and head.
After being sorted through the layers, the white bones continued to fall, piling onto the bone mountains.
Meanwhile, the mixture of rotting and fresh flesh was sent to the Plague Slaughterhouse to serve as raw material for producing abominations.
The debris filtered out by the first curtain was transported to a fixed location within the Undead Heavenly Crafts.
Hundreds of artisan-type skeleton heroes rushed to the spot as soon as the magic circle was activated, taking their positions in advance.
As the debris was teleported in, the skeleton heroes sorted the items into categories and transported them to the next stage of processing.
However, the number of spatial gates opening this time far exceeded the imagination of any skeleton.
Before one gate had finished emptying, a new one would open.
Ghost Axe and Chen Yan exchanged a look without saying a word. Chen Yan grabbed Ghost Axe’s ribs, and with a burst of flame, he flew back toward the Undead Heavenly Crafts with the artisan in tow.
The moment they landed, Chen Yan didn't stop. He immediately channeled his Hellfire to ignite the furnaces.
Ghost Axe, meanwhile, activated the magic circles in the forging workshop. As the arrays lit up and spatial magic surged, a massive amount of demon skeletons were teleported into the furnaces.
The other smaller forging workshops also sprang into action, taking a portion of the demon skeletons to manufacture smaller secret treasures.
Ghost Axe was not the only skeleton who possessed this skill. In his spare time between forging, Ghost Axe had held classes to teach other artisans.
Aside from Ghost Axe, other skeleton smiths now had a basic ability to craft secret treasures, allowing them to produce low-rank items.
At this moment, the entire Undead Heavenly Crafts was in full operation, continuously consuming white bones and producing various items needed for the war.
This was the nature of a large-scale war; if the fighting at the front was fierce, the logistics in the rear had to move just as fast.
But after a short while, when Ghost Axe paused during a break in his forging, he looked up at the increasing number of spatial gates in the sky and let out a helpless sigh.
“Undead above... if those two keep killing like this, won't it eventually trigger a massive retaliation from Hell?”
...
On the battlefield, exactly as Ghost Axe had predicted, the demon-like slaughtering behavior of Kunpeng and Sindragosa had drawn the high-level attention of Hell.
Although low-rank and mid-rank demons held no status in Hell and had no concept of "demon rights," they still served a purpose.
The meaning of their existence was to serve as cannon fodder for the demon invasion armies, acting as meat shields for the high-rank demons and demon lords.
But no matter how little status they had or how much they were treated as fodder, when they were killed in such numbers, Hell had to respond.
On one demon battlefield, Kunpeng opened a spatial gate. Three flashes of golden light streaked across the field before the Heavenly Expeditionary Force or the demons could even react.
Sharp Geng Gold qi instantly slaughtered every demon on the field. Their souls were swallowed by the golden light, leaving behind only corpses with perfectly smooth, clean cuts.
Then, Kunpeng opened another spatial gate. Its gargantuan wings, which could blot out the sun, flapped gently, causing a tornado to rise beside the gate and sweep all the demon corpses into it.
The Heavenly Expeditionary Force in the area seemed to have expected this. They quickly retreated into their city and activated the Saint Light Canopy to block the suction of the tornado.
“Which demon battlefield is this now? Saint Light above, our undead friends are truly too generous.”
“I think it’s the forty-seventh? That was the number when I checked the records earlier. I’m not sure if it’s been updated since then.”
“The number has probably increased. That one is an undead... what was it again? Oh, an Undead Yin Lord. Hey, that’s a powerhouse on the same level as the High Priests!”
While the Heavenly Expeditionary Force was still whispering among themselves, six terrifying auras descended upon the world.
Kunpeng’s near-insatiable slaughter had finally drawn out the Hell Archdukes—and five of them arrived at once.
Because Kunpeng had taken the lives of four Hell Archdukes during its last outing, Hell had dispatched six Archdukes this time to deal with it.
The Hell Archdukes descended into the realm, but before they could even let out a boastful cry, they saw the expression of ecstatic joy on Kunpeng’s face.
“Finally, they’re here!”
“Something’s wrong! Watch out for a trap!”
The Hell Archdukes assumed this was a conspiracy directed at them and immediately huddled together, warily guarding against an ambush from the shadows.
Kunpeng shifted its form, transforming into its true dragon manifestation. Its dragon claws made a grasping motion, closing the spatial gate.
Then, its dragon tail whipped out violently, slamming heavily against the ground. The terrifying force instantly shattered the earth, and the city of the Heavenly Expeditionary Force was launched into the air and thrown directly into the Cosmic Sea by Kunpeng.
Next, Kunpeng spat out its dragon orb. A majestic surge of water providence diffused from it, enveloping the entire world and transforming it into a Water Prison.
Kunpeng looked at the six Hell Archdukes, its face showing the expression of someone appraising a collection of treasures.
“Demons, offer your souls to me!”
