Chapter 357 · Volume 1

Promoting Growth, Zhenyuan Attains the Dao

After returning to Heaven, Chen Xu did not linger. Since the conflict between the Immortals and Yokai had subsided and the Lord of Heaven, a seasoned veteran, was keeping watch, Chen Xu freed himself to focus on his own progress and strength. This also aligned with the Lord of Heaven’s expectations.
In the Lord of Heaven’s vision, the end of Hell would involve both Heaven and the Undead invading Hell together. They would sacrifice their own special worlds to shatter the Mother of Hell’s home-field advantage.
Then, the Lord of Heaven and Chen Xu would decapitate Hell, grind its Dao principles into nothingness, and erase it from the Myriad Worlds.
Matters concerning special worlds should be settled by special worlds. This erroneous ascension probably should never have existed from the very beginning.
The Lord of Heaven glanced in the direction Chen Xu had departed, then turned his head back to the Spring of Divine Vision before him.
The reflections in the spring were no longer of the Immortal-Yokai Minor Realm; they had changed to live feeds from the various battlefields of the Heavenly Expeditionary Force.
At this moment, the Lord of Heaven had transformed into a security guard in a monitoring room. He sat alone, watching over a hundred reflected scenes simultaneously, just as he always did.
Among those hundred-plus war scenes, one stood out as rather peculiar.
No demons appeared in that frame. Instead, there were only bare-chested followers of Heaven and groups of low-tier angels.
The believers worked together to haul stones and construct buildings.
The angels cast divine techniques to gradually terraform the world’s environment.
The Lord of Heaven’s gaze remained fixed on this specific scene. He only used his peripheral vision to scan the other battlefields.
“Heaven, Hell, and the Undead are but symbols. I hope you can see through that,” the Lord of Heaven murmured softly, though it was unclear who he was speaking to.
...
Inside the Undead Dao Court, Chen Xu looked at the various structures and felt that something was missing.
His rise had been too rapid, and he lacked the necessary infrastructure.
In the vast Undead Dao Court, aside from the special regions, the only artificial structure was the Undead Heavenly Crafts. It looked far too desolate.
Forget comparing it to Heaven; it fell significantly short even when compared to the headquarters of other Dao Lord-tier powers.
He estimated that even some established civilizations presided over by Eternal-tier beings were better developed than the Undead Dao Court.
Unfortunately, Chen Xu was currently following a policy of aggressive militarism. All his talent and energy were allocated to the war against Hell, leaving him no time for territorial renovation.
Skeletons, bone dragons—every single undead creature was deployed to the battlefields against the demons.
Even the Nephalem, after their campaign against the space pirates, had joined the undead army and were now under Bone Guard One’s command.
Only Chen Yan remained in the rear because of his smithing skills. He stayed at the Undead Heavenly Crafts as an assistant to Ghost Axe, specializing in the base for the secret treasure, the Bone Path.
Suddenly, a golden light reflecting from the sky caught Chen Xu’s attention. He looked up, and an idea struck him.
“Right, I haven’t dealt with that big treasure yet!”
Floating in the Inverted Sea was the massive golden egg from the Golden Dragon Realm.
This golden egg was very special. That golden dragon had used some secret method to actually make the world ‘pregnant,’ resulting in this dragon egg.
From this egg, Chen Xu could sense an aura similar to the Heavenly Dao of Blue Star.
One could only say that the world was vast and full of wonders. For even a world—the most unique kind of living entity—to be targeted by a dragon was truly a sigh-inducing thought.
Chen Xu had previously deployed Creation Power to infect the egg, but even now, it had only eroded about a quarter of it.
Without Chen Xu’s active control, the process of creation was extremely slow. Of course, the dragon egg’s massive size was also a significant factor.
Originally, Chen Xu had intended to transform this egg into a war behemoth similar to the Kunpeng, but thinking about it now, it didn’t seem strictly necessary.
Furthermore, a dragon’s form didn’t seem particularly suited for labor.
Chen Xu couldn't decide for the moment, so he planned to wait a bit longer.
He raised his hand to open a spatial gate and stepped into the Land of the Undead.
“My Lord!”
Big Boss bowed respectfully. Behind him was a mountain of goods, and the packaging was stamped with the words ‘Holy Tree.’
In the distance, a pure white wolf-dog was dragging a cart of the same goods toward them.
“Holy Tree... is that the name of that Beast Tamer civilization?”
“Yes, My Lord. It is said that the core beast of that Dao Lord-tier Beast Tamer is a World Tree.
The World Tree stands tall in the Cosmic Sea, its roots digging into the Void to absorb energy directly.
Its branches connect to various worlds, providing protection and transport.”
Chen Xu used his mental strength to lift a bag of fertilizer and split it open. Inside was a mass of yellow substance that looked like clay.
It contained rich energy and over a hundred types of special elements.
Moreover, these hundred-plus elements interacted with each other, emitting a profound aura that smelled remarkably like World Source.
“World Tree, World Source... Could the formula for this fertilizer be related to that World Tree?”
Chen Xu had a suspicion, but he wasn't particularly interested in someone else's technical formula. As a consumer, he only cared about the results.
Through the soul link, he sensed Zhenyuan’s location. After locking on, he opened a spatial gate and pulled Zhenyuan through directly.
“Roar!!! Kill!”
The Zhenyuan that was pulled over was still in a combat state. Because of Chen Xu’s forced retrieval, the effects of Fighting Heaven and Earth had been triggered; the Combat Intent had exceeded a thousand layers, forcing him into the Heavenly Manifestation state.
Zhenyuan’s size ballooned rapidly, and his aura became increasingly terrifying.
Since they were in End City, Chen Xu swept his right hand upward to prevent Zhenyuan from accidentally destroying buildings. His terrifying mental strength poured out, forcibly lifting Zhenyuan into the air.
“Brother Zhenyuan, wake up! Our Lord is here!”
Yin Stone sent a soul transmission to warn Zhenyuan.
Zhenyuan snapped out of it. Sensing the familiar yet strange aura, he shuddered and quickly regained his senses.
Zhenyuan swung Yin Stone, smashing the demons bound by his branches above into mists of blood.
Then, his roots surged upward, absorbing every drop until no trace remained.
He even extended a few roots to Yin Stone, cleaning the stains off its surface until it was spotless.
Afterward, Zhenyuan withdrew from the Heavenly Manifestation state. His size shrank and his aura receded. Only then did Chen Xu withdraw his mental strength and let him descend slowly.
Zhenyuan twisted in mid-air and landed before Chen Xu with a very fawning smile.
“Master, why have you summoned me?”
Chen Xu pointed to the pile of fertilizer behind him.
“I bought these for you. See if absorbing them can accelerate your growth process.”
Zhenyuan looked over at the pile of fertilizer. Instantly, an instinct rooted in his plant nature was activated.
“Eat it! Eat it! Eat it!”
Every cell in his body seemed to be coaxing him, urging him to quickly devour that massive pile of fertilizer.
In the next moment, hundreds of roots shot out, easily piercing the packaging and plunging into the fertilizer.
The fertilizer vanished at a visible rate. In just a few seconds, the mountain of fertilizer was completely sucked dry by Zhenyuan.
Zhenyuan’s aura surged rapidly. This rate of growth filled the nearby Yin Stone and Big Boss with envy.
Zhenyuan’s face was full of intoxication. He looked like he hadn't had enough and couldn't help but look at Chen Xu.
“Master, is there more? This yellow stuff is too delicious.”
“Not for now. You’ll have to wait a bit.
Big Boss, purchase another batch of fertilizer from the Holy Tree civilization. As for the quantity... make it ten thousand times what we had today.”
“Yes, My Lord. I will handle it immediately.”
After receiving the order, Big Boss immediately sent a message to his subordinates.
Five days later, a peak of fertilizer was piled up outside End City, with a Ginseng Fruit Tree lying within it.
Absorbing a massive amount of this fertilizer, which bore some resemblance to World Source, made Zhenyuan feel lightheaded.
The energy within his body was concentrated to the extreme. His previously bare canopy had become lush and green, adding a touch of fresh color to the Land of the Undead.
When the last bit of fertilizer was absorbed, Zhenyuan’s aura suddenly exploded, stepping into the Eternal-tier.
Unlike his other seniors, the Ginseng Fruit Tree reached the Eternal-tier upon reaching maturity due to its inherent foundation.
Therefore, Zhenyuan’s advancement lacked flamboyant special effects or a loss of control due to the energy surge. Everything was as natural as a human breathing.
This was the importance of one's lineage. For most races, the mythic-tier was an unattainable end, but for Zhenyuan, the Eternal-tier was just the beginning of his life as a tree.
