Chapter 341 · Volume 1

Golden Holy Dragon Egg, A Complex Relationship

Inside the Golden Dragon Realm, Sindragosa followed behind Gou Deng, gazing down at this strange world from high above.
The more she saw, the more she felt an indescribable eeriness permeating every corner of this dragon realm.
First, there were the dragons themselves. From the moment she entered until now, Sindragosa had not seen a single dragon of any other color.
Furthermore, these dragons only resembled golden dragons in color. Whether it was their body shape, the proportions of their limbs, or their physical features, they had absolutely nothing to do with true golden dragons.
The second point that struck Sindragosa as bizarre was the dragon nests below.
Within every golden mountain lay a dragon nest, and each nest contained only a single dragon.
One must understand that dragons were naturally promiscuous creatures. Beyond satisfying their greedy nature, a nest typically served another primary purpose.
Yet, the dragons of this realm seemed interested only in wealth, possessing no other desires or thoughts.
What made Sindragosa feel a slight chill, however, was the statue placed at the entrance of every dragon nest—a statue of a dragon made of pure gold.
These statues looked exactly like the dragons inside the nests, as if they had been carved as perfect one-to-one replicas.
But from those statues, Sindragosa could read a rich variety of emotions: lust, pride, wisdom, malice, and cunning—everything except greed.
Conversely, from the faces of the living golden dragons, she could perceive only greed, devoid of any other emotion.
It was as if all the golden dragons had been copied from a single template.
Flying at the very front, Gou Deng noticed Sindragosa constantly surveying the Golden Dragon Realm, but he didn't care in the slightest. Within this realm, Gou Deng feared no one.
“Oh, Lady Sindragosa, I believe you will find this much more interesting than the ordinary golden mountains and rivers below.”
Sindragosa retracted her gaze from below and looked in the direction Gou Deng was pointing. Her dragon eyes instantly widened to their limit, and her maw hung open instinctively.
It was an unimaginably massive dragon egg. The shell was also made of gold, with half of it submerged in a Golden Lake below. The water around it bubbled and churned constantly, suggesting an extremely high temperature.
The other half, resting above the ground, towered into the sky, piercing directly into the golden clouds above.
What a gargantuan egg. Could any creature truly possess such a massive frame? Sindragosa was plunged into a state of shock.
If a creature could possess a size comparable to an eternal-tier Kunpeng while still a hatchling, how exaggerated would its foundation be? Would it be a Dao Lord at adulthood?
Sindragosa wasn't sure. In her perception, this golden egg emitted no aura at all, as if it were a dead object. Perhaps it was just a work of art Gou Deng had crafted, a piece of craftsmanship used to flaunt his wealth rather than a living being.
However, Sindragosa did not jump to conclusions. Instead, she relayed the situation here in real-time to Chen Xu outside via their soul link.
“A Golden Holy Dragon Egg as big as Kunpeng? Are you serious?!”
Even Chen Xu was startled by the news. Seeing that he was skeptical, Sindragosa directly shared a vision of the scene with him.
Upon seeing the image, Chen Xu was equally awestruck.
“With an egg that big, how long would it take to finish eating it? Wait, no—an egg that big... if it were transformed into an undead creature, just how powerful would it be?!”
In the moment he saw the dragon egg, a trace of greed inevitably surfaced in Chen Xu’s heart. This greed had nothing to do with wealth; it was greed for an increase in power.
If it weren't for the sake of training his undead legions, he would have wanted to expose his identity right then and there, using his overwhelming mental strength to tear through the world membrane of the Golden Dragon Realm and plunder everything inside.
But he recalled the sentiment from long ago: soldiers face soldiers, and generals face generals. Even the Jade Emperor had not personally moved to subdue Great Sage Sun; instead, he had dispatched heavenly soldiers and generals repeatedly, and when that failed, he outsourced the task to the Buddhist sect, never personally taking action.
The skeleton army was currently assembling, and the necrotic artisans were urgently producing a large batch of anti-air treasures. Chen Xu was not short on time, so he quickly suppressed the greed that had just ignited.
Inside the dragon realm, Gou Deng saw that Sindragosa was lost in shock. The corners of his mouth curled up slightly as he continued.
“Within that Golden Holy Dragon Egg matures the guardian deity of the Golden Dragon Realm, the Golden Holy Dragon, the Supreme God of Wealth! He is also the son of Gou Deng, the overlord of the Golden Dragon Realm!”
Gou Deng’s voice was soaring, making no effort to hide the pride radiating from his eyes.
“Yours?”
Hearing this, Sindragosa scanned Gou Deng’s body with a skeptical gaze. No matter how she looked, she couldn't see any connection between the two.
Although Gou Deng was sufficiently massive—larger than Sindragosa—compared to that dragon egg, they practically weren't even the same species.
Gou Deng saw Sindragosa’s confusion and immediately explained.
“Ahem. This is the second masterpiece of my life. The first was this Golden Dragon Realm, and the second is my child—this egg of a holy dragon, nurtured by me and the Golden Dragon Realm together, and then birthed by the realm itself.”
“What? You...!”
Sindragosa was horrified. Her finger trembled slightly as she pointed at Gou Deng, then pointed upward.
“...With the world?!”
It was said that dragons were naturally lustful. Wherever a world with dragons existed, this draconic instinct would result in the world having countless hybrid species.
Because Sindragosa was an undead bone dragon, she was not affected by such urges. Her understanding of this draconic nature came entirely from the memories she had gained upon ascending to the eternal-tier.
She had previously thought that cross-species relationships between dragons and other creatures were ridiculous enough, but this situation made her jaw drop.
What did it mean to nurture something together with the world? What did it mean for a world to birth a dragon egg?
Never mind Sindragosa; Chen Xu, who was receiving the information in real-time, was also stunned.
How does a dragon mate with a world, and how does a world birth a physical dragon egg?
In an instant, Chen Xu’s interest in Gou Deng skyrocketed, far surpassing his interest in the giant golden egg.
Gou Deng read Sindragosa’s confusion and let out a sigh.
“How regrettable. I didn't expect a dragon like Lady Sindragosa, who has already reached the eternal-tier, to still have her thinking shackled by primal instincts.
“The birth of the Golden Holy Dragon Egg did not stem from a crude act of biological reproduction, but rather...”
Gou Deng did not finish his sentence. Instead, he gave her a meaningful look and changed the subject, seemingly teasing Sindragosa on purpose.
“Aside from the Golden Holy Dragon Egg, the Golden Dragon Realm has another place that can be called a miracle. I believe that once Lady Sindragosa sees it, you will surely be willing to stay and join us, becoming a member of this dragon’s dreamland.”
Sindragosa continued to fly with Gou Deng, and they soon arrived at the edge of a volcanic crater.
Gou Deng flew downward, landing on the ground beside the crater, and looked up at Sindragosa.
“This is the second miracle of the Golden Dragon Realm, the Golden Holy Spring!
“In my younger years, I traveled through the myriad worlds and was fortunate enough to see the Angelic Holy Spring of Heaven. That miraculous water, which allows all things to shed their mortal coils and transform into angelic forms, left me profoundly shaken.
“From that moment on, I resolved to create a holy spring of my own. Effort does not betray a determined dragon; finally, after exhausting a vast amount of energy, the Golden Holy Spring was born.
“As long as one takes a trip through the Golden Holy Spring, they can shed their impurely colored dragon forms and obtain a perfect, flawless, and pure golden dragon body!”
Just as he finished speaking, a red dragon—perhaps deceived into coming or having arrived voluntarily—plunged headfirst into the crater, falling into what Gou Deng called the Golden Holy Spring.
“Roar!!!”
The red dragon let out a roar as the crimson-gold liquid within the volcano continuously washed its bloodline. After a short while, a red dragon with a pure gold exterior flew out of the spring.
Simultaneously, a jet of water erupted, and a pure gold statue was ejected from the crater.
At this moment, Sindragosa finally understood where the golden dragons in this realm came from—and she knew exactly where the statues in front of the dragon nests originated.
