Chapter 307 · Volume 1

Fire Entering the Path of Crafting

“Fifty million?”
Ghost Axe immediately mentally inventoried the materials in Heavenly Crafts’ storage. After a rough calculation, he found that they should have enough, so he accepted.
“No problem. We can deliver the first batch of five million in three days. The remaining forty-five million can be delivered in two subsequent batches. Would that work?”
Bu Xingtian nodded, having no objections.
“We shall do as you say, Fellow Daoist.”
Once the task was confirmed, Ghost Axe took the blueprints and trotted out of the Overlord’s Castle.
Ghost Axe knew that Chen Xu had called him over simply to evaluate the manufacturing task. As for the price, that was not the responsibility of a production-focused skeleton like him.
Thus, with the production order finalized, Ghost Axe hurried back to Heavenly Crafts to prepare the assignments.
Heavenly Crafts was already incredibly busy, handling weapon maintenance for all the skeleton heroes and various other miscellaneous orders.
With such a massive order suddenly added to the queue, the head of Heavenly Crafts needed to create a solid production schedule.
Ghost Axe walked quickly out of the Overlord’s Castle. Looking around outside, he found that the bone dragon from earlier had not yet left.
“Big guy, you’re still here? I mean, is it really necessary? Do you distrust me that much?”
“Woooh...”
“Huh? You’re saying there are no other guests near the Overlord’s Castle, so it would be a waste to leave empty-handed, which is why you waited for me?”
“Woo! Woooh!”
“Half-price for the return trip? Fine, fine.”
Ghost Axe gave a light leap and landed on the dragon’s back. The bone dragon rose with the wind and flew back toward Heavenly Crafts.
Inside the Overlord’s Castle, Bu Xingtian also took his leave of Chen Xu and departed from the Undead Dao Court.
The Martial Arts Alliance still required a top-tier expert like him to hold the fort, preventing Hell from making any more unexpected moves that might disrupt the martial artists’ rhythm.
At this moment, the Dao Lords of the Martial Arts Alliance were no longer as relaxed as before. They were in a state of high tension, fearing that the Mother of Hell might suddenly launch a personal strike on the battlefield.
They themselves might not fear the Mother of Hell, but their disciples could not withstand a unique-tier being who had been infamous for her cruelty since the ancient era.
What normal people feared most was a bizarre, illogical lunatic—even more so when that lunatic possessed formidable strength, and most of all when that lunatic’s power sat at the very apex of the world.
...
After Bu Xingtian left, Chen Xu also prepared to leave the Undead Dao Court.
He put on his Truth Monocle again, intending to observe the situation of the demons across various necrotic battlefields.
Just as he was about to depart, a spatial gate appeared nearby, and a youthful voice called out.
“Father.”
A Nephalem with fiery red hair and bronze skin stepped out of the portal. Everywhere his feet touched, blazing flames ignited.
Following behind him was a little red dragon twice his size.
This little fire dragon had been incubated by Sindragosa using her own subordinate godhead, making it a natural dragon god.
Despite the dragon being small and still in its infancy, it possessed mythic-tier strength, just like the Nephalem.
Sindragosa’s dragon god station allowed her to nurture ten subordinate gods. She had incubated ten young dragons, each corresponding to the attributes of the ten Nephalems, to serve as their spiritual pets.
“Hmm? What is it, Yan’er?”
This red-haired Nephalem was named Chen Yan.
Chen Yan was the third-ranked among the first generation of Nephalems. He had received the blessing of the Hellfire Vision from the Undead Dao Court, granting him innate, boundless hellfire that even dyed his black hair red.
However, despite wielding the power of fire, Chen Yan was very introverted and rarely spoke, creating quite a contrast.
Every day, he would either join the other Nephalems in bullying the challengers of the Necrotic Archmage Tower or play with the little red dragon behind him.
The fact that he had initiated a conversation today surprised Chen Xu slightly.
“Father, I want to go to the Necrotic Heavenly Crafts and learn the art of smithing from Ghost Axe.”
“Oh?”
Chen Xu hadn’t expected the third-born, a master of fire, to take an interest in smithing.
Then again, in cultivation civilizations, cultivators with fire roots almost always chose either alchemy or smithing as their secondary profession.
There was nothing wrong with smithing. In the myriad worlds, there were unique-tier beings who had attained the Dao through crafting; it was a bright and promising path.
Furthermore, Chen Yan’s solitary personality made smithing quite suitable for him.
“No problem. Ghost Axe’s skills are exquisite; you can have him teach you.”
“Thank you, Father!”
Chen Yan broke into a smile. He had been worried that Chen Xu might not allow him to waste energy on such seemingly idle pursuits, but he hadn't expected Chen Xu to support him.
With permission granted, flames erupted from Chen Yan’s body as he took to the sky, transforming into a meteor that streaked toward Heavenly Crafts.
The little red dragon behind him flapped its wings vigorously and followed suit.
Seeing him in such a hurry, Chen Xu suddenly became thoughtful. He raised his hand and summoned the two tower spirits, Gold Shimmering King and Yan Ruyu.
“What has been happening at the Mage Tower lately?”
“My Lord, nothing particularly unusual has occurred at the Mage Tower. The transcendents of the myriad worlds remain very enthusiastic about climbing the tower.
“Even though the various events we introduced have made the experience more difficult and less pleasant for the challengers, their thirst for transcendent knowledge keeps them climbing.
“Currently, the main force has reached around the 400th floor, which is roughly the level of the early legendary-tier.”
Gold Shimmering King answered solemnly.
Yan Ruyu, sensing the residual aura of flames in the air, seemed to remember something and suddenly spoke.
“My Lord, since the Nephalems received the support of Sindragosa’s subordinate dragonlings, the challengers’ situation has become even worse.
“A Nephalem going all out was already enough to give the challengers a headache. Now, with the addition of a dragonling of equal strength, very few challengers can cope.
“Only a few individuals from high-level transcendent civilizations have been able to easily defeat the combination of a Nephalem and a subordinate dragon.”
Hearing this, Chen Xu was somewhat shocked.
“Defeat? Are you sure they were defeated?”
“Yes, my Lord. Although the Nephalems and the subordinate dragonlings are strong, they are still young and lack combat experience compared to their opponents.
“Furthermore, the opponents are not legendary-tier, but mythic-tier powerhouses. They are also equipped with numerous artifacts, literally armed to the teeth.
“Under the double pressure of superior equipment and experience, the Nephalems have suffered successive defeats. This seems to have left them in a bit of a foul mood lately.”
Chen Xu raised an eyebrow, feeling slightly speechless.
Wait, if you’re a scion of a great mythic-tier family and you’re fully decked out in artifacts, you clearly aren’t someone lacking in inheritance or knowledge. Why are you going out of your way to trouble a few children?
“Yan Ruyu, have you confirmed their intentions?”
“My Lord, I asked Lord Boss to investigate, and combined with information from the Undead Network, I have confirmed their identities and purpose.
“They come from a civilization that possesses eternal-tier powerhouses and are part of that civilization’s top factions.
“They didn’t come to the Necrotic Archmage Tower for the transcendent knowledge inside, but for a competition.”
“A competition? What kind of competition?”
“The eternal-tier leaders of their civilization have decreed that every so often, the jurisdiction of the major factions will be redistributed.
“The size of the territory allocated is determined through a competition.”
“So they’ve placed their competition in my Mage Tower this time? To see who can climb the highest?”
“Yes, my Lord.”
Chen Xu didn’t know what to say. If it was a competition, then so be it. It was a good opportunity to give the Nephalems a lesson; they couldn't just keep crushing weaklings forever. Pressure was necessary for motivation.
This explained why the third-born had started seeking new sources of power instead of just being satisfied with his innate abilities.
Having understood the reason, Chen Xu waved his hand to dismiss the two spirits.
He then opened a spatial gate and arrived beside Bone Guard One.
This battlefield was different from the previous ones; it was a core battlefield. In addition to the undead, there were also Heaven’s defenders present.
Furthermore, the demon army on the opposite side was much more ferocious than usual. They were followers of a certain Hell Archduke, battle-hardened and ruthless warriors.
“Bone Guard One, how are your preparations coming along?”
