Chapter 254 · Volume 1

The Floating Three Immortal Islands Project

Gandalf's voice came from Guixu. This councilor of the Eternal Heart civilization's Mage Council had not walked the path of seeking truth for many days.
He had led a technical team, working day and night, and had finally completed all the magic technology.
Now was the final inspection and delivery stage. As long as Chen Xu was satisfied, he could receive the final payment for the project from Boss.
This was a huge sum of money, equivalent to the income from laboriously invading two worlds.
With this income, the finances of the Eternal Heart civilization would significantly improve, and as the key contributor, Gandalf would naturally receive a corresponding reward.
Once the reward was issued, he could restart his previously unfinished experimental projects and pursue his dreams of truth.
Chen Xu's figure instantly flew above Guixu. His soul swept over all the magic technology, sensing the profound fluctuations they emitted, and he nodded in satisfaction.
These pieces of magic technology were basically at a power level above the mythic-tier but below the eternal-tier. Once Guixu took over, they might be able to function stably at an eternal-tier level.
As for higher-level magic technology, Chen Xu wanted to buy it, and Gandalf wanted to sell it, but Eternal Heart did not yet have any mature products for sale.
According to Gandalf, those were still lab-stage prototypes and could not be sold externally.
However, the current magic technology was sufficient and well worth the price.
Chen Xu made a grand gesture and told Boss to settle the final payment for Gandalf immediately.
This move made the councilor from the mage civilization so overjoyed that he couldn't contain himself. He spread his arms and moved to embrace Chen Xu.
But this offensive move was immediately blocked by Guixu. The Space Module activated, teleporting Gandalf continuously above the floating city, letting him experience the sensation of free-falling.
A moment later, Guixu returned Gandalf to his original spot, and he had sobered up quite a bit.
“Great Venerable Chen Xu, you will forever be a friend of Eternal Heart. Whatever your needs, Eternal Heart will do its utmost to satisfy them.
Even if you want to invade Hell, we of Eternal Heart will surely follow in your footsteps!”
Gandalf spoke with high spirits, his voice surging with passion.
“Really? I actually do have a bit of a grudge with Hell and was planning to find trouble with them.”
“Uh, well, about that... we of Eternal Heart will, will surely provide you with, uh...”
Hearing this, Gandalf immediately began to stammer, his words no longer flowing smoothly.
He had just been boasting. If they were really asked to fight Hell, wouldn't that be a joke?
They were Eternal Heart, not 'Dao Lord Heart.' Any random Hell Demon King could crush and flatten them, ravaging them at will.
“Haha, I'm just joking, just joking.”
Seeing how sincere Gandalf had appeared just now, with his soul fluctuations matching his words, Chen Xu had thought the other was truly intending to join an alliance against Hell. It turned out he was just sincerely boasting.
“Lord Gandalf, does your Eternal Heart have enough manpower left?”
“Venerable Chen Xu, what do you mean?”
Gandalf's sensitive radar detected the scent of business, and he immediately became alert, his expression changing instantly as he leaned in toward Chen Xu.
Though he was once again blocked by a transparent energy wall erected by Guixu and couldn't get too close.
“I want to build three more floating cities with the same specifications as Guixu.
How about it? Can you take on this project? If not, I'll have to subcontract it out and find those other two mage...”
Before Chen Xu could finish, Gandalf interrupted him hurriedly.
“We can! We can absolutely take it! Let alone three floating cities, even if it's thirty or three hundred, we of Eternal Heart can handle it!”
Gandalf thumped his chest hard, his tone firm and his gaze resolute, radiating intense confidence.
“Three hundred would be fine? Does your Eternal Heart have that many mages?”
Unexpectedly, Chen Xu actually seemed interested in building three hundred. Gandalf bit his lip and said firmly:
“Rest assured, if you need them, Eternal Heart will gather the people for you even if we have to abandon our current wars.”
“Is that so? Then forget it. Let's just start with three for now.”
Building three hundred would cost too much; Wanbao Pavilion didn't have that much capital at the moment.
Chen Xu's Star Lord system still needed to be constructed, and the opening of the three open cities also required spending money on promotion.
Although the rare treasures from the Land of the Undead sold for a lot, Chen Xu's spending speed was also fast.
Three hundred... that would have to wait until he was wealthier later on.
Building three more floating cities to form the Three Immortal Islands bond of Penglai, Yingzhou, and Fangzhang would be enough.
Moreover, as mobile fortresses that could travel through the Cosmic Sea, floating cities held great strategic significance.
Including Guixu, a total of four floating cities would be enough to initially meet the expansion needs of the Land of the Undead.
With Chen Xu's nod, Gandalf received another check from Boss.
With two huge sums of money in hand, Gandalf's soul felt light and airy, as if he had experienced the bliss of truth itself.
“Lord Gandalf, the basic construction of the three new floating cities must be fast. The magic technology can wait, but the main basic modules must be completed quickly.”
Once the basic prototypes were ready, Chen Xu could enlighten the other floating cities just as he had with Guixu.
After being enlightened and gaining a true spirit, the floating cities could monitor everything happening on them, making it convenient for Chen Xu to oversee the project's progress at any time.
“Rest assured, when I return to Eternal Heart this time, I will bring three times—no, six times the manpower—to guarantee the fastest construction speed for you.
By the way, I wonder if you have prepared the Power Modules for these three floating cities?”
Chen Xu shook his head. He only had one throne from when he ascended to godhood, and it was already serving as the energy core for Guixu. He couldn't possibly use the Supreme Throne of the Land of the Undead as an energy core.
That would be too extravagant, unless the entire Land of the Undead was transformed into a single massive, boundless floating city. Only then would it be worthy of using the Supreme Throne as an energy core.
“Just use standard Chaos Mana Cores.”
“Understood. I'll head back and assemble the team immediately!”
“Wait, you take this with you.”
Chen Xu quickly called out to the departing Gandalf and threw a projection of the Necrotic Archmage Tower to him.
“This is?”
“A mage tower I developed in my spare time. It contains the knowledge of a fallen mage civilization and can be used for study.”
Hearing this, Gandalf's expression changed drastically. “Is... is this a legendary legacy artifact? But this... this is too precious; we can't afford it.”
Gandalf had thought Chen Xu wanted to sell the mage tower to them, but the sale of a civilization's legacy artifact was not something a mere councilor like him could decide.
“Don't worry, it's free. I have a connection with that mage civilization, so consider it a way to help pass on their truth.”
“I see. You are truly a man of great honor and loyalty, Venerable.”
Since it was free, Gandalf felt at ease accepting the mage tower, then led his technical team away from the Land of the Undead.
The next time they arrived, it would be time to begin work on the three floating cities.
