Below the city walls, the dragons had all retreated into the Dragon Court. Griffinlie erupted with all his mana, his thunder spear swinging frantically to carve a bloody path through the horde.
Even with dozens of abominations hurling their iron hooks, they couldn't hold him back.
Patchwerk was busy stitching together his trophies. Earlier, when Chen Xu transformed into the Bone Angel form, he had cut down many dragons. Once they hit the ground, they were swarmed and killed by the undead army.
Patchwerk had severed the dragon heads and was sewing them into his body. It was only because Chen Xu had given prior orders—allowing Patchwerk to sew only one of each dragon species—otherwise, he probably would have used them all up.
Griffinlie turned back and exhaled golden dragon fire, melting the abominations' hooks before flying into the Dragon Court.
Patchwerk had just finished stitching the last dragon corpse. He looked up, intending to follow Xuan Chu's order to hook a dragon from the sky.
But Patchwerk looked left and right, his massive head tilting as his small eyes scanned the area. Confused, he scratched his head; there wasn't a single dragon left in the sky. He then turned back toward Xuan Chu on the Overlord's Castle with a puzzled look.
Xuan Chu watched Patchwerk, speechless. He could only turn to Chen Xu with a suggestion.
"My Lord, the abomination race is inherently a mixture of parts, and they aren't born with much intelligence. I suggest letting the Whispering Tree enlighten Patchwerk as well."
"As a special abomination who received Your Lordship's divine gift, such low intelligence might bring shame to your name."
Chen Xu nodded, fully agreeing with Xuan Chu's point.
"I've already spoken to the Whispering Tree. I'll put Patchwerk and Kunpeng in the same class. Surprisingly, Kunpeng didn't mind; he actually seemed quite happy about it."
Judging by how Kunpeng treated his Bone Kun underlings, Chen Xu thought the creature was a domineering loner who preferred his own company. He hadn't expected him to be so welcoming to Patchwerk.
"Uh..." Xuan Chu hesitated. He didn't have the heart to tell Chen Xu that Kunpeng was actually a chatterbox. The creature sent messages to the skeleton heroes and Black Knights every day, but most of them ignored him. Only the Necrotic Priest, Rathma, replied every time.
Then there was Patchwerk. The two giants, both lacking a bit in the brains department, got along famously. Xuan Chu suspected that the reason Patchwerk hadn't immediately followed his order was likely because he was busy chatting with Kunpeng.
Since becoming the Sea God, Kunpeng's place had essentially become a gossip hub for the merfolk. He had an endless supply of news to share every day. If it weren't for the fact that dealing with believers' requests was a necessary lesson for a god, Xuan Chu would have suggested Chen Xu step in and stop Kunpeng's behavior.
"Oh, finally showing yourself."
After Griffinlie entered the Dragon Court, the place began to change. The original metal walls gradually extended upward, forming a shell-like structure similar to an egg.
Inside the Dragon Court, countless energy tentacles emerged from the Dragon Furnace—the core beneath the ground—and bound the dragons in the plaza.
"What is this! Why is the furnace power binding me? I haven't broken any laws of the Dragon Court!"
"I... I can't control the mana in my body!"
Griffinlie was also ensnared. Since he had just fought his way back from the undead army, his mana was severely depleted. He realized that these furnace tentacles were not only draining his mana but also his flesh and blood energy.
"Blake, what's happening to the furnace! The Dragon God is slumbering—what the hell are you doing!"
Griffinlie shouted at the Dragon God's priest, Blake, who stood atop the wall looking down at the dragons.
Blake didn't respond. He didn't even move, simply standing there in silence, staring down.
Fury surged within Griffinlie. The last traces of the Dragon God's blessing in his mind ignited, allowing him to regain control of his body. He spun his thunder spear and hurled it at Blake above.
The thunder spear pierced through. Blake's dragon body was split clean in half.
Griffinlie's eyes widened. Beneath the dragon skin, Blake was filled with nothing but furnace tentacles.
"Do not struggle, my children."
"D-Dragon God?"
"Children, offer your strength to me. Let us become one and bury all incoming enemies beneath the earth!"
The suction from the furnace tentacles accelerated, and the dragons let out wails of agony.
"You... you aren't the Dragon God! Dragon God is the King of All Dragons. As a sovereign god, he would never do this!"
Griffinlie struggled, letting out a roar of indignation.
"The decaying Dragon God is long dead. Now, there is only the newborn Magic Dragon! The Magic Dragon that shall annihilate all!"
The tentacles inside the dragons grew frantically. Their golden disguise faded, revealing their true crimson nature.
From a distance, Chen Xu saw the crimson tentacles emerging from the dragons, along with a distinct aura of Hell.
"Dammit, you dare try to steal my troops!"
Chen Xu rested his hands on the wall of the Overlord's Castle, extending his mental strength.
Above the Dragon Court, space began to warp. The Inverted Sea descended into the dungeon.
"Woooh—"
Kunpeng leapt out from the Inverted Sea, the power of the Sea God flowing and shimmering across his body.
Carrying the weight of the ocean, Kunpeng whipped his tail, striking the eggshell-like barrier surrounding the Dragon Court.
Boom!
A terrifying force exploded against the Dragon Court, and the shell shattered into pieces, scattering across the ground. The Sea God's power seeped into the Dragon Court and into the furnace, disrupting the tentacles. The tentacles on the dragons vanished instantly, and they collapsed to the ground in heaps.
"The power of the sea? A Sea God? An undead creature can become a Sea God? Hahaha! I knew it—power is not such a restricted thing. If a pile of bones can become a Sea God, why can't I become a Demon God!"
The crimson tentacles converged, forming a deformed dragon over a hundred meters long. It had three asymmetrical wings on its back and five front claws of varying lengths on its chest. Two bloated dragon tails dragged behind it, constantly thumping against the ground.
Above its chest cavity were three heads. One was majestic and holy but with closed eyes. One had bulging eyes, radiating madness. The last had eyes half-closed, its face contorted in terror.
All three heads looked toward Kunpeng simultaneously, baring their fangs.
