Chapter 73 · Volume 1

Why Did You Make Such a Sweet Sound Over a Soul-Tracking Imprint?

Zhang Mingyuan shouted at the top of his lungs toward the bedroom.
With a flash of his body, he turned into a streak of light and rushed straight inside.
Inside the bedroom, a faint, cool fragrance and white mist drifted and lingered.
Su Jinxue had just finished meditating and adjusting her breathing, suppressing the churning Dao injury within her body.
Her crimson gown draped loosely over the cold jade couch, her collar slightly open to reveal a patch of skin as white as creamy jade.
Having just circulated her energy, a touch of rosy color flushed her stunning, cold face. A few beads of fragrant, crystalline sweat clung to her temples, slowly sliding down her cheeks and disappearing into the depths of her collar.
The hem of her long gown was slightly curled, and a pair of exquisite bare feet rested gently on the edge of the jade couch. Her ankles were slender, and her ten toes were as round and smooth as jade, flushed with a faint pink hue.
Under the dim spiritual light of the bedroom, she exuded an aura that was a mix of cold elegance and sensual beauty.
Just as she opened her ruby-like eyes, she saw Zhang Mingyuan barge in, sporting a charred afro.
Seeing Zhang Mingyuan's disheveled state, a flash of distaste crossed Su Jinxue's gorgeous face, and she cast a spell to restore his hair.
After doing this, she lightly bit her lower lip and scolded:
“Why did you shout so loudly? If someone hears you...”
Zhang Mingyuan couldn't care less. Knowing his wife could be saved, his mind was entirely consumed by the joy of getting her back.
He dashed to the jade couch, cupped Su Jinxue's warm, soft face in both hands, and planted a heavy kiss on her cheek.
“Smack!”
With a crisp sound, he left a clear wet mark on Su Jinxue's face.
Su Jinxue was stunned for a moment by his sudden assault.
Once she snapped out of it, she quickly wiped her cheek and glared at him with disgust:
“Zhang Mingyuan! Are you a dog?”
Zhang Mingyuan grinned foolishly, completely ignoring her disdain.
Having nearly lost her, he cherished her all the more!
Even if he had to wash Little Xuexue's feet every day, or even drink her footwater, he would accept it without a second thought, finding it absolutely sweet!
“Where did you run off to just now?” Su Jinxue asked, looking at his foolish grin.
Zhang Mingyuan's eyes darted around, and he laughed sheepishly:
“Nowhere really. I just wandered around outside to clear my head.”
Su Jinxue narrowed her ruby eyes and said flatly:
“You went to the Scripture Pavilion, then to Taixu Sacred Ground to find Lingxuzi, and finally... you even visited the Heavenly Dao space.”
“Holy crap!” Zhang Mingyuan practically jumped up, staring at her with wide eyes. “How did you know? You're spying on me! Do I even have any human rights left?! Speak!”
The moment the words left his mouth, Zhang Mingyuan's heart skipped a beat.
Wait, that's not right!
If Little Xuexue had been spying on him the entire time, didn't that mean...
His despair after discovering the truth in the Scripture Pavilion, his breakdown and drunken crying when he went to find Lingxuzi, and his crazed antics in the Heavenly Dao space where he threatened the Heavenly Dao with a sword before kneeling down to bow—she had seen all of it?!
Damn! This was a massive embarrassment!
Zhang Mingyuan immediately blushed red with embarrassment, his toes curling so hard inside his boots that he wished he could dig a three-bedroom apartment under Myriad Snow Palace and crawl inside.
Su Jinxue looked at Zhang Mingyuan, having no idea what kind of nonsense this idiot was cooking up in his head.
She pinched the bridge of her nose and explained:
“You forgot that I placed a Soul-Tracking Imprint on you. I can only sense the general direction of where you went; I can't actually see what you did.”
Zhang Mingyuan froze for a moment, his tense nerves instantly relaxing.
Damn, panic really does make you stupid. He had actually forgotten about that!
“Hehe, so that's how it is! I was going to say, how could you possibly peep at your husband's heroic bearing?”
Zhang Mingyuan's eyes darted around as he let out a couple of dry laughs.
Suddenly, his eyes rolled, and he looked at Su Jinxue, saying:
“Wait, Little Xuexue, this isn't fair!”
“You planted a Soul-Tracking Imprint on me, so I have to plant one on you too!”
Seeing his childish behavior, a flash of fondness passed through Su Jinxue's eyes, and she laughed softly:
“Alright, as you wish.”
“Little Xuexue, relax your mind and don't move. You mustn't resist me at all!”
“Mm...”
Su Jinxue gave a soft reply, leaning in and closing her eyes, presenting her smooth, jade-like forehead to him.
However, her body tightened slightly, completely out of her control.
For cultivators, the soul was an extremely private and sensitive taboo area. Aside from her female master who had taught her back then, this was the first time in five thousand years she was allowing someone else to enter her soul.
Looking at her tense, fragrant shoulders, a mischievous grin played on the corner of Zhang Mingyuan's mouth:
“Little Xuexue, relax. Don't tense up your body, and you need to open up your soul too, or how am I supposed to get in?”
Hearing his words, her already nervous body tensed up even more, and a deep blush rapidly spread behind her ears.
She suddenly snapped her eyes open, glaring at him in embarrassment and anger:
“Zhang Mingyuan, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you?”
“Ah! You've misunderstood me! Isn't what I said just the truth?”
Zhang Mingyuan spread his hands with a look of pure innocence.
“Oh? You still dare to argue?” Overcome with shame and anger, Su Jinxue grabbed his ear.
“Ouch! Ow, ow, ow! I was wrong! Little Xuexue, I was wrong! Spare me!”
Zhang Mingyuan begged for mercy repeatedly.
“Hmph.”
Su Jinxue snorted softly, finally letting go and sitting back down properly.
“Alright, alright, Little Xuexue, I'll stop messing around.”
“I'm really going to plant the Soul-Tracking Imprint now. You're not allowed to move, so open up your mind.”
“Mm.”
With a flushed face, Su Jinxue gave a low reply, once again closing her eyes obediently and bringing her forehead close.
“I'm going to plant it now, so don't move.”
With that, Zhang Mingyuan raised his right hand. A gentle, pure azure spiritual light glowed at the tip of his index finger as he tapped it against the space between Su Jinxue's eyebrows.
Zhang Mingyuan controlled his spiritual energy, gently letting it penetrate Su Jinxue's brow.
Yet even though he was gentle enough, the strange sensation brought by the external spiritual energy touching the core of her soul still caused Su Jinxue to shudder.
“Ah~”
A bone-melting, soft moan escaped uncontrollably from Su Jinxue's red lips.
Hearing this, Zhang Mingyuan felt a jolt of electricity shoot from his tailbone straight to the crown of his head, throwing his mind into complete disarray!
He hurriedly withdrew all of the spiritual energy he had channeled into her.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa! Little Xuexue, why are you making sounds like that!”
Zhang Mingyuan swallowed hard and shouted with lingering panic:
“I'll get distracted and hurt you! Don't you know that soul contact is extremely dangerous?!”
Hearing Zhang Mingyuan's scolding, Su Jinxue slowly opened her eyes. A faint mist covered her red pupils, and her cheeks were so flushed they looked ready to bleed. She murmured with a hint of embarrassment, “Then... can't you be a bit gentler...?”
Hiss—
Seeing Su Jinxue's watery, shifting gaze, her crimson cheeks, and her incredibly moving expression filled with bashfulness and grievance, Zhang Mingyuan couldn't help but suck in a cold breath.
Like this? How was he supposed to be gentle when she was like this?!
If he didn't turn into a beast right then and there, it would only be because his self-control was supernatural!
He couldn't take it anymore!
To hell with the Soul-Tracking Imprint, he had to kiss her first!
Zhang Mingyuan cupped Su Jinxue's face, leaned down, and kissed those two luscious, tempting lips passionately.
“Mmph...”
Su Jinxue let out a startled gasp, but it was instantly swallowed up by his fiery breath.
Zhang Mingyuan's kiss was domineering yet filled with the tender cherish of someone who had almost lost her. As their lips and teeth met, the cool, faint scent of snow lotus from Su Jinxue's body intertwined and merged with Zhang Mingyuan's burning breath.
Su Jinxue's tense, delicate body softened at this moment, collapsing onto the jade couch like a pool of spring water.
With nowhere to put her hands, she could only gently grasp the lapels of Zhang Mingyuan's robe, letting him linger and possess her lips.
Inside the snow-covered bedroom, the temperature quietly began to rise.
“Zhang Mingyuan, you bastard...”
“Mmph...”
