Chapter 3 · Volume 1

How Is a Biological Father Not a Danger?

Wen Shuyi hurriedly brought Wen Jingshu back to the Pill Sect. She immediately activated Misty Peak's protective array and even dismissed the four Dao protectors, signaling them to stay away.
Seeing Wen Shuyi make such a massive fuss, Wen Jingshu couldn't help but feel glad she had sought out her convenient older sister right away.
“Shushu, what I am about to say is very important to you. You must remember it well.”
“This spiritual root of yours is very special; it is a hidden spiritual root. If others find out about it, they might harbor designs on it.”
Although transplanting someone else's spiritual root defied the Heavenly Dao, for those with poor aptitude or no talent at all, it was the only path to embark on the journey of cultivation.
Thus, even though spiritual root transplantation was universally despised, there were still many who secretly engaged in such dirty dealings.
“So, I am going to open a hidden dantian for you and transplant your hidden spiritual root into it.”
No matter how well-concealed a hidden spiritual root was, it still had to take root in the dantian. If a powerful cultivator searched Wen Jingshu's dantian, they would still discover it.
But a hidden dantian was different. It was a second dantian, capable of hiding behind the primary dantian. As long as Wen Jingshu did not actively expose it, no one would ever discover it.
Thinking of this, Wen Jingshu couldn't help but marvel once again at the benefits of a privileged birth.
If she were truly just a mortal, she wouldn't have been able to protect either of these top-grade spiritual roots, let alone open a second dantian.
Wen Jingshu nodded in agreement without a second thought. Her decisiveness made Wen Shuyi look at her with surprise.
Wen Jingshu did not hide the fact that she had taken the Intelligence Awakening Pill. After all, her sudden change in personality required a justification.
Upon hearing her younger sister's words, Wen Shuyi immediately bristled:
“What! You actually took an Intelligence Awakening Pill? Where did you get one? How dare you take an Intelligence Awakening Pill all by yourself!”
Having personally experienced the agonizing pain, Wen Jingshu felt a bit guilty and confessed honestly:
“There was another person with a top-grade spiritual root going to the Qingyun Sect with me. He mocked me for being an unweaned baby, so in a fit of anger, I swallowed the Intelligence Awakening Pill.”
“I found the Intelligence Awakening Pill inside the spatial bracelet Father gave me.”
As Wen Shuyi listened to Wen Jingshu, she examined her body. Only after confirming that her foundation remained undamaged did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.
For some reason, she suddenly recalled what their mother had once said: “When there is no danger around, your biological father is the greatest danger.”
The Intelligence Awakening Pill was indeed a good thing, but it shouldn't have been given directly to Wen Jingshu. If anyone was to hold it, it should have been her, so she could watch over Wen Jingshu as she took it.
If it weren't for her sister's mutated wood spiritual root possessing inherent healing properties, it was highly questionable whether Wen Jingshu would even be standing before her in one piece right now.
Thinking of this, Wen Shuyi felt a lingering fear. She reached out and tapped her forehead, saying, “Since you've taken the Intelligence Awakening Pill, don't be so impulsive in the future.”
“If anything happens, come to your sister. Do you understand?”
Wen Jingshu winced slightly, rubbing her forehead, and pouted, “I understand.”
Though she didn't show it on her face, she felt quite fortunate in her heart.
Involuntarily, she suddenly felt glad that she had inexplicably transmigrated into Wen Jingshu's body.
As for the issue of her being an impostor, Wen Jingshu didn't think much of it.
She possessed all of the young Wen Jingshu's memories while retaining her own. In that case, was it the talisman cultivator Wen Jingshu who had transmigrated into the young Wen Jingshu's body and usurped her life?
Or was it that the young Wen Jingshu, by some twist of fate after consuming the Intelligence Awakening Pill, had gained an extra set of memories belonging to the talisman cultivator Wen Jingshu?
Or perhaps the young Wen Jingshu was the reincarnation of the talisman cultivator Wen Jingshu? A clone? Or something else entirely?
In short, the two of them shared the same aura, the same appearance, and their souls fit together perfectly. They had long since merged into one. From the moment she woke up, the talisman cultivator Wen Jingshu and the young Wen Jingshu were already indistinguishable.
With over a thousand years of experience, Wen Jingshu was able to face her current situation with absolute composure.
While the two sisters were talking, Wen Shuyi had already prepared the materials to open the hidden dantian.
In truth, it was merely two eighth-grade pills.
One was a Vitality Pill, used for regenerating the dantian.
The dantian was the repository of a cultivator's lifelong cultivation. As a cultivator, it was difficult to guarantee that one could protect their dantian perfectly for their entire life.
A Vitality Pill could repair a damaged dantian. Possessing a Vitality Pill was equivalent to having a second chance at cultivation.
The other was a Root-Stabilizing Pill, used to help the wood spiritual root take root and stabilize after being transplanted.
The Root-Stabilizing Pill had been created specifically for the transplantation of dantians and spiritual roots.
It was said that the first recipients of a spiritual root transplant were a father and daughter. The daughter had been born without a spiritual root, while the father had suffered severe injuries. Fearing his daughter would be bullied after his death, he sought help from the alchemist he served, hoping to transplant his undamaged spiritual root to his daughter.
Touched by the deep bond between the father and daughter, and because that Dao protector had originally been severely injured while protecting him, the alchemist created this method.
The alchemist knew the wickedness of human nature well. Immediately after the successful experiment, he destroyed the pill recipe. Yet, to his surprise, others still managed to replicate it.
The effects of these two pills defied the heavens; throwing either of them out into the world would trigger a bloodbath of competition.
Yet, for Wen Jingshu's family of alchemists, mere eighth-grade pills were nothing to be concerned about.
Having integrated the memories of the young Wen Jingshu, Wen Jingshu didn't react much upon seeing these two eighth-grade pills.
Ah, this damn privilege of a second-generation cultivator. I'm being flexed on yet again.
“Sister, I'm going to begin now.”
“The process will be a bit painful, so you must hold on. Once the dantian is created, Sister will take you to eat your favorite roasted spirit pig!”
Although she knew her younger sister had taken the Intelligence Awakening Pill and possessed the intellect of an adult, she couldn't help but coax the little toddler before her in a soft voice.
Naturally, Wen Jingshu also thoroughly enjoyed her sister's coddling.
“Mhm, I'm ready!”
Wen Jingshu, small as she was, lay perfectly straight on the spiritual jade bed.
Once again struck by how adorable her sister was, Wen Shuyi reached out and gently patted her small face to comfort her before placing her hand over her dantian.
The first step in creating a dantian was to disperse all of one's cultivation.
Fortunately, Wen Jingshu had only drawn Qi into her body, reaching the fourth layer of Qi Refining, so dispersing this cultivation didn't feel like a waste.
Because Wen Shuyi's movements were extremely gentle, Wen Jingshu only felt as though a warm current of water was flowing through her body. The process concluded quite comfortably.
Next, she was fed a Vitality Pill.
The Vitality Pill was originally meant to repair a damaged dantian. However, since Wen Jingshu's dantian was perfectly intact, the sudden influx of powerful and overbearing medicinal energy only caused her excruciating pain.
Using her spiritual energy as a blade, Wen Shuyi forcefully sliced open a small slit behind Wen Jingshu's dantian, guiding the medicinal force of the Vitality Pill toward the wound.
She then enveloped the medicinal force with her spiritual energy, shaping it into a sphere to contain its power.
While the hidden dantian was forming, Wen Shuyi multi-tasked, directly uprooting the hidden spiritual root and moving it into the hidden dantian.
Following that, Wen Jingshu was fed a Root-Stabilizing Pill.
Wen Shuyi's destruction, coupled with the regeneration from the Vitality Pill and Root-Stabilizing Pill, brought wave after wave of pain and healing. Wen Jingshu clenched her teeth, fiercely maintaining her focus and protecting her mind.
Success or failure hinged entirely on this single moment!
Heartbroken for her younger sister, Wen Shuyi moved with extreme speed.
Although only the time it took for half an incense stick to burn had passed, to Wen Jingshu, it felt like a thousand years.
Feeling Wen Shuyi withdraw her hand from her dantian, Wen Jingshu struggled to flutter her eyelids open and asked, “Is it done?”
Wen Shuyi reached out and covered her eyes, saying gently, “It's done. Sleep well, sister. When you wake up, you will be a brand new you.”
Thinking of her current talent, Wen Jingshu let her lips curl into a slight smile as she drifted into a deep sleep.
