“Grandson! You fell right into our trap!”
Seeing their overwhelming numbers, Bruce instantly perked up and brayed arrogantly.
Momozi tilted his head back as well, nostrils pointing to the sky.
“Charge, brothers!”
The players raised a raucous war cry, swinging their weapons as they surged toward the Kobold Chief like a tidal wave.
Instantly, deafening battle cries echoed through the forest clearing. Shouts, yells, and skill chants interwove into an imposing, utterly intimidating spectacle.
Faced with this sight, Black Tooth was briefly intimidated. Its three-meter-tall body shivered slightly, tensing instinctively.
However, it quickly calmed down, its beastlike vertical pupils sharply scanning the charging crowd.
No, something was off.
These people...
After sensing their presence for a moment, the cold sneer returned to its face.
Every single one of them was pitifully weak.
Among these hundred-plus individuals, not a single one was a Class Holder.
Even the strongest among them were merely on the fringe of Bronze Rank, not having officially attained even the lowest tier of Bronze Rank.
Whereas Black Tooth was a genuine Bronze Rank Class Holder! A High-tier Bronze Rank powerhouse at that!
The gap between a Class Holder and an ordinary person was not something sheer numbers could bridge.
At that thought, sheer disdain practically overflowed from Black Tooth's eyes. It crossed its arms and stood rooted in place, not even bothering to move.
“Fireball!”
“Lightning Arrow!”
“Rock Spike Thrust!”
“Vine Entangle!”
“Holy Light!”
The players' skills came in rapid succession, a dazzling array of colorful abilities tearing through the air.
Beneath the ground, thick vines burst forth and grew wildly, instantly wrapping around Black Tooth's limbs and torso to bind it firmly in place.
Yet the disparity was plain to see.
Black Tooth raised its sharp, massive claw and casually swiped, directly cleaving the oncoming fireball until it exploded into a shower of floating sparks.
With a subtle shudder of its feet and a pulse of muscle, the tough vines snapped into pieces, crumbling into dead tendrils all over the ground.
It casually dodged the fierce lightning arrow with a slight tilt of its body; the bolt grazed past its scales without leaving so much as a mark.
The rock spikes bursting from the ground slammed heavily against its body, making only dull thuds without scratching its hardened scales in the slightest.
Only the Holy Light that descended last—carrying holy, purifying power—gleamed with a soft white light upon Black Tooth. It evoked intense revulsion within the chief while actually managing to inflict damage.
The players exploded instantly.
“Holy crap?! Is this BOSS really this strong?!”
“Almost all our skills missed or barely did any damage. This BOSS is way too tanky!”
“Wait, Holy Light actually dealt damage?!”
A sharp-eyed player noticed this.
“Stop complaining! The BOSS broke free! Quick! Tanks, step up!”
At the urgent warning, a dozen tank players stepped forward and charged. Those with shields held them high in one hand while swinging wooden swords with the other, aiming straight for the Kobold Chief's knees.
Why the knees? There was no choice—the BOSS's legs alone were about a meter and a half tall.
Seeing this, Black Tooth snorted coldly. “In your dreams!”
Its thick, razor-sharp claws swept outward with a gust of wind.
Bang!!!
With a loud crack splitting the air, the three or four frontmost tank players were hit directly by the massive claw, flying backward through the air before slamming heavily onto the ground. Their HP bars emptied instantly, though they didn't forget to complain before dying:
“Holy crap?! That attack power is nuts!”
Then, with a flash of light, their bodies vanished from the spot.
The other players naturally witnessed this scene. After all, those players had been swatted so high into the air that it was hard to miss.
“Holy crap! That claw packs a punch!”
“Ridiculous! A single hit one-shots someone?!”
“Where are the healers?! Healers, hurry! If you don't heal me, I'm gonna go black screen and respawn right here!”
“Coming, coming! Heal is ready!”
Several faint, warm white beams descended, barely landing on the heavily injured players. They barely managed to stop the gushing blood, slowly restoring a pathetic amount of HP—better than nothing.
“Forget it. With heals like that, you might as well not bother. I'm just gonna die and respawn in town.”
“What a waste. I really wanted to save a Resurrection Coin.”
The heavily wounded player rolled his eyes and complained before pulling out a wooden sword and committing suicide to respawn in town.
The player who healed him: “...”
Black Tooth glanced around, its mind growing even more certain.
Is that all? Just a bunch of ants.
A hideous smile stretched across its mouth, and it charged straight into the crowd.
The slaughter began.
Black Tooth was like a dark green meat grinder barreling through the crowd. Every swipe of its claw sent several players flying, and some were even cleaved straight in half at the waist.
The players' wooden swords struck its scales, leaving only faint scratches. The wooden shields raised against it shattered like paper under its claws.
Some players attempted to sneak attack from behind, but the moment they raised their wooden swords, Black Tooth kicked them thirty feet away without even turning its head.
“HOLY CRAP!!!!!”
“I'm flying!! I'm actually flying!!!”
“So high!! So high!! I'm going to the sky!!”
“Stop screaming!! You freaking landed on me, you bastard!!!”
The scene devolved into utter chaos, shouts and complaints rising and falling in waves.
Black Tooth got caught up in the thrill of the kill, its claws drenched in "blood"—yet soon enough, the blood on its claws vanished without a trace.
Black Tooth clearly noticed this. Though a bit confused, it didn't dwell on it.
It fought with increasing fury until it suddenly stopped, opening its jaws as dark black light began to coalesce inside its mouth.
Boom!!!!
A massive dark energy ball blasted from its mouth, sweeping across the ground!
Players in its path collapsed in swathes like harvested wheat.
“Holy crap!! A map cannon!!!”
“This BOSS unleashed its ultimate!!!”
“Dodge, dodge!!”
In an instant, the players suffered heavy casualties.
Black Tooth let out a satisfied breath and turned back to admire its handiwork—
And then it froze.
The ground was completely spotless.
The humans it had mauled, blown up, and crushed to death... where were their corpses?
Not a single one remained.
They had all vanished.
If not for the pile of weapons and armor left scattered across the ground, it would have doubted its own eyes.
Black Tooth was utterly bewildered.
Am I really this strong? Did my energy breath vaporize those humans instantly???
How come I never knew I was this incredible before???
At that thought, it couldn't help but fall into deep self-doubt.
Ultimately, Black Tooth still couldn't figure it out, so it chalked it all up to its strength having recently grown once again.
Without thinking further, many humans slowly gathered around it once more.
However, their expressions were somewhat eerie.
They seemed even more... excited? And they showed no fear whatsoever.
This weird expression, coupled with the vanishing blood and corpses from before, made Black Tooth feel a sense of creepiness for the very first time.
