“Chiying, Glare.”
Chiying’s crimson eyes locked onto the Phantom Moon Fox, and an invisible mental deterrent shot forth.
The Phantom Moon Fox was paralyzed for a moment but quickly struggled free, and the illusions intensified once more.
Liu Yi quickly analyzed, “This isn’t simple mental instability.”
She quickly walked towards the startled sisters and gently comforted them, “Don’t be scared, come with me.”
Liu Yi moved them to a safe area outside the hall. The little girl clutched her older sister’s arm tightly, and the Rock-armored Turtle remained withdrawn into its shell, trembling.
Returning to the circular hall, Liu Yi nodded to Ziyue, “Unleash your full power.”
“Bingbing!”
Ziyue took a deep breath, and the temperature in the hall plummeted.
This time, an Extreme Cold Storm swept through the entire hall without reservation, ice crystals condensing in the air into a beautiful yet deadly vortex.
The Phantom Moon Fox’s fur quickly frosted over, eventually becoming completely frozen within a massive block of ice.
Liu Yi immediately contacted the staff through the Beast Tamer Association APP’s task interface: “The task site is under control. It appears to be a lingering issue from the Nova Bio-Research Institute. Medical assistance is needed.”
While waiting, Liu Yi carefully observed the ice-sealed Phantom Moon Fox.
Its pupils still glowed with an abnormal red light, very similar to the frenzied state of the Lightning Rat she had seen before.
Deng Tianhe arrived in a hurry with two medical personnel sent by the Beast Tamer Association. She gasped when she saw the ice-sealed Phantom Moon Fox: “What… what happened here?”
“Its symptoms are similar to the Lightning Rat from the illegal gene experiment a few days ago,” Liu Yi briefly explained the situation. “I recommend immediate medical examination to check for traces of genetic modification.”
The medical personnel quickly began their work, carefully placing the ice block and the Phantom Moon Fox into a specialized container.
“Oh my goodness, we had no idea.” Deng Tianhe’s face was pale. “If you’re asking about contact with outside personnel, it went to a pet grooming center a few days ago.”
Liu Yi asked, “Which grooming center?”
“Radiant Star, it’s in the west district of the plaza,” Deng Tianhe replied. “They provide mental care services for Psychic-type pets.”
Just then, Liu Yi’s phone vibrated with a message from the group chat.
【The Beautiful Master of Cute Shadow: @Yi We’re at the Polar Ice Dessert Shop. Are you doing okay over there?】
【Yi: I found an anomaly that might be related to a pet grooming center called Radiant Star. I’ll be done here soon, so please avoid that shop for now.】
Putting away her phone, Liu Yi told Deng Tianhe, “I need to see all of the Phantom Moon Fox’s recent care records, especially those from that grooming center.”
With Deng Tianhe’s assistance, Liu Yi quickly reviewed the relevant information.
The records showed that the Phantom Moon Fox went to Radiant Star once a week for “mental reinforcement care,” with the most recent visit being five days ago.
“What exactly does this care entail?” Liu Yi asked.
“Apparently, it involves special essential oil massages combined with a psychic wave device to help Psychic-type pets maintain their mental power,” Deng Tianhe explained. “Many performing pets regularly receive this kind of care.”
Liu Yi pondered this. The Nova Bio-Research Institute should have been dealt with by the Longwu Beast Tamer Association two days ago.
Based on when the Phantom Moon Fox received its care, it likely happened before the institute was handled.
“I will report this,” Liu Yi said. “Before the Beast Tamer Association sends someone to investigate thoroughly, I recommend you suspend all external pet care services.”
She briefly described the anomaly via the Beast Tamer Association APP, and the other side stated they would send someone for further investigation and thanked Liu Yi for promptly handling the crisis.
Leaving the Phantom Maze, Liu Yi first went to the Polar Ice Dessert Shop to meet up with Baili Jinxuan and the others.
As she approached the dessert shop, she heard a familiar shout: “Liu Yi! Over here!”
Baili Jinxuan stood at the entrance of the dessert shop, waving excitedly.
Huo Nanyun and Qi Zimeng stood beside her, each accompanied by their respective pets.
“Task completed?” Huo Nanyun asked, the Candle Spirit Child floating beside her.
Liu Yi nodded, “I found a potential lingering issue, which I’ve already briefly reported to the Association. I’ll submit a detailed report when I turn in the task later.”
“Forget about the task for now!” Qi Zimeng eagerly pulled Liu Yi into the shop. “Come quickly and try the new items! The Lightning Eclair and Aurora Mousse are super delicious!”
The dessert shop was warmly decorated, with tables and chairs designed to accommodate pets.
Liu Yi was pulled to a window seat, where the table was already laden with various exquisite desserts.
“We ordered a lot, just waiting for you,” Baili Jinxuan smiled. Beside her, the Phantom Cat was enjoying a small dish of pet-specialized jelly.
Ziyue sat on a specially designed pet chair, with an Aurora Mousse, exclusive to Ice-type pets, in front of her.
Chiying quietly observed the Dragon-type Pet energy ice cream prepared for it, cautiously took a bite, and its crimson eyes immediately lit up.
“Was the task still smooth?” Huo Nanyun asked while cutting her cake.
Liu Yi briefly recounted her discoveries in the Phantom Maze.
“It’s them again!” Qi Zimeng slammed the table in anger. “Is the Lightning Rat incident still not over?”
“Leilei!”
The Thunder-patterned Hound took a bite of Lightning Eclair and echoed with a bark.
“Don’t worry, the Beast Tamer Association will conduct an investigation,” Liu Yi reassured them. “Radiant Star should just be a historical lingering issue.”
“Speaking of which,” Baili Jinxuan suddenly leaned closer, her eyes sparkling, “How’s your school team training going? I heard you defeated a second-year Senior?”
Liu Yi raised an eyebrow slightly: “How did you know?”
Baili Jinxuan chuckled, “I secretly checked your school forum. I also checked Longwu No. 1’s. Weren’t Zimeng and Nanyun also selected for the school team?”
Huo Nanyun nodded, “We had our school team selection in the first week of school.”
“Yep~” Qi Zimeng looked proud. “We were both in the Top 8 of the Longwu High School Entrance Tournament, so of course we made it into the school team!”
Liu Yi looked at Baili Jinxuan, “What about you? By the way, did Su Wenxi also enroll at Yunhai?”
Baili Jinxuan took a bite of cake, shaking her head in delight at the taste. “Of course I got in too! Su Wenxi indeed came to Yunhai. Not only did she make the school team, but she also applied for additional theoretical and practical tests with the school. After passing, she skipped directly to the second year.”
“Although she probably should have been in the second year anyway, this also proves that the year she delayed wasn’t wasted.”
“And she also contracted her second pet last week and was certified as a Junior Beast Tamer.”
Liu Yi smiled, “That’s really good. If you see her at school next week, please congratulate her for us.”
Huo Nanyun and Qi Zimeng agreed, and Baili Jinxuan readily promised.
Their enjoyable time together passed quickly. Before parting with Liu Yi, Baili Jinxuan and Qi Zimeng reluctantly hugged and rubbed against Ziyue: “Next time, we definitely have to hang out together!”
