Liu Yi took the card and nodded. “Don’t worry, Sister. I can handle these things. Just like Mom and Dad didn’t worry about you back then, I hope you won’t worry too much about me either.”
“I’ll catch up to you.”
...
After seeing Liu Ran off, Liu Yi carried Ziyue back to her room and opened her computer to start drafting a training plan.
Moonlight spilled across the desk through the window, reflecting off Ziyue’s silver-blue fur and casting a faint glow.
Glancing at Ziyue, Liu Yi blinked and suddenly realized, “Oh, I forgot to turn on the light.”
You really should turn on the lights when using smart devices at night.
“First, I need to have Ziyue use that B-rank skill book, 《Ice Spike》, that I pulled earlier. Then, we need clear training goals.” Liu Yi began typing on the computer:
Understand the details of each skill and begin increasing skill proficiency.
Engage in some actual combat.
Prepare for evolution to the Intermediate stage.
“Bingbing, bingbing.”
Ziyue sat between Liu Yi and the keyboard, her little head following the characters as Liu Yi typed. She chirped in agreement from time to time, as if she could actually understand.
Liu Yi smiled and rested her chin on Ziyue’s head. “Starting tomorrow, we’ll wake up at 6:00 AM every day for training.”
The next morning, the summer sun was already up by 6:00 AM. Liu Yi took Ziyue to the backyard training field.
She took out 《Ice Spike》 from her Beast Taming Space. As she brought the skill book close to Ziyue, the pages dissolved into blue specks of light and merged into the fox’s body.
Liu Yi checked Ziyue’s information:
【Name: Ice Fox】
【Attribute: Ice】
【Level: Junior stage (10%)】
【Skills: Ice Blade (Entry level 10%), Frost Breath (Entry level 10%), Ice Armor (Entry level 10%), Ice Spike (Entry level 10%)】
【Trait: Ice Soul Awakening (Entry level 10%)】
She had learned Ice Spike, but even without any training, it already had 10% proficiency? It seemed to be a result of Ziyue’s innate talent.
Liu Yi took out a bottle of C-rank pet nutrient solution from her Beast Taming Space for Ziyue to drink, then pulled up a more detailed training schedule on her phone:
【Ziyue’s Phase One Training Plan】
Goal: Increase skill proficiency
Daily Training:
Ice Blade precision training (6:00-8:00)
Frost Breath timing training (9:00-11:00)
Ice Armor strength testing (13:00-14:00)
Ice Spike proficiency improvement (15:00-18:00)
“Let’s start with Ice Blade.” Liu Yi placed Ziyue five meters away from a row of metal training targets. “Remember to aim for the red markers.”
Ziyue twitched her ears, her gaze sharp as she stared at the bullseye. An icy blue shimmer enveloped her body.
With three sharp whistles, three palm-sized blades of ice shot out from behind her. The metal targets rang with crisp dings as ice crystals bloomed into fine frost upon impact.
The first two hit the bullseye dead center, but the third only clipped the edge.
“Bingbing...” Ziyue swished her tail dejectedly.
Normally, a Junior pet using Ice Blade for the first time would be lucky to condense one or two blades and hit the target even once. For Ziyue to fire three at once and not miss the target entirely—only hitting slightly off-center—was already incredible.
“Don’t worry.” Liu Yi knelt down and stroked Ziyue’s head. The fox was doing much better than she had expected. “The third blade missed likely because the energy condensation was uneven.”
“Try again. You just need more practice. This time, focus on controlling the flow of energy.”
“If you feel like your energy is running low, come to me.”
“Bingbing.”
Ziyue nodded and resumed her training.
Liu Yi stepped to the side, continuing to observe and record Ziyue’s progress. Whenever Ziyue came to her, she would take five bottles of C-rank energy liquid from her Beast Taming Space for her to drink.
After drinking, Ziyue would start training again. By 8:00 AM, she had already consumed ten bottles of C-rank energy liquid.
“Ziyue.” Checking the time, Liu Yi called for a halt. “Let’s go. Take a break and have breakfast with me.”
“Bingbing.”
Ziyue stopped her Ice Blade condensation and walked over to Liu Yi. Liu Yi picked her up and headed toward the house. “Are you tired?”
Ziyue swished her tail, taking a moment to check.
“Bingbing.”
Not really.
“You’re so good, Ziyue!” Liu Yi stroked her from head to tail, over and over.
Ziyue narrowed her eyes in enjoyment. “Bingbing!”
Of course!
In the living room, Liu Yi ate the breakfast Auntie Chen had prepared. Ziyue recovered using the newborn-specialized pet nutrient solution and commercial energy liquids the Fluffy Butler had set out for her.
After resting until 9:00 AM, Liu Yi and Ziyue returned to the backyard training field to start training Frost Breath.
At Entry level proficiency, Frost Breath only had a fan-shaped range of about three meters and carried a slight slowing effect.
This made timing crucial. If used beyond three meters, it wouldn’t take effect at all. But if released too late, the enemy would already be in her face.
Liu Yi placed Ziyue inside a circle of moving targets.
“Ziyue, these moving targets will close in on you quickly at random.”
“You need to release Frost Breath just as a target enters your three-meter range.”
“Bingbing!”
Ziyue listened intently and nodded.
Liu Yi activated the device, and ten metal targets began darting around in irregular patterns. Ziyue stood at the center, her purple eyes tracking the movement around her.
“Here comes the first one,” Liu Yi warned.
A metal target from the three o’clock position suddenly accelerated toward her. Ziyue stepped back slightly and, the instant the target entered the three-meter range, exhaled a blast of icy blue mist, scoring a successful hit.
“Perfect timing.” Liu Yi looked at the frost-covered target. “And the slow lasted for two seconds.”
A second target lunged from the left. Ziyue was a bit slow to turn, and by the time she released Frost Breath, the target had already closed within two meters.
“Bingbing.”
Ziyue didn’t get discouraged this time. Instead, she focused intently on the other targets and continued her training.
As the training progressed, Ziyue began to master the optimal timing. At one point, two metal targets from the six and seven o’clock directions rushed her simultaneously, only 0.8 meters apart.
Utilizing Frost Breath’s 120-degree fan-shaped range, Ziyue timed her release perfectly, hitting both targets at once.
“Bingbing, bingbing!”
When the two-hour Frost Breath session ended, Ziyue ran excitedly toward Liu Yi and skillfully hopped onto her shoulder.
She began circling Liu Yi’s neck, nuzzling her affectionately.
