The light gradually faded.
As her vision returned from a golden blur to normal colors, Liu Yi found herself standing on a circular platform completely different from Longwu.
"Welcome to the Glorious Domain, Saint Candle Region," a strange voice said from outside the platform.
Liu Yi turned her head to see a young woman in a Beast Tamer Association uniform standing at a control panel, smiling at them.
"I'm Kong Xinyan, a receptionist at the Saint Candle Beast Tamer Association. Teacher Wei, long time no see."
Wei Xiuyu nodded. "Long time no see, Supervisor Kong."
"Was your journey smooth?" Kong Xinyan stepped out from behind the control panel, her gaze lingering on Liu Yi for a moment. "Is this Student Liu Yi?"
"Hello," Liu Yi replied politely, nodding.
Kong Xinyan's gaze shifted from Liu Yi's face to Ziyue, then from Ziyue to Jinyao in her arms, and finally rested on Chiying, who hovered beside Liu Yi.
"Silver Snow Fox, Moling Dragon..." she murmured, then looked at Jinyao. "A Radiance Shift Blazing Lion?"
Liu Yi nodded.
Kong Xinyan fell silent, then turned and walked towards the hall exit. "Please follow me; I'll take you to register as contestants and get your pets examined."
"Wait," Wei Xiuyu called out, stopping her. "The registration and examination aren't urgent. Let's settle into the hotel first."
Kong Xinyan thought for a moment and nodded. "Alright. The hotel has been arranged; it's right next to the Beast Tamer Association, a five-minute walk. It's the one you stayed at before."
Wei Xiuyu looked at Liu Yi. "Let's go."
The moment they stepped out of the Beast Tamer Association's doors, a wave of heat washed over them.
Liu Yi squinted, taking a few seconds to adjust before she could clearly see the surroundings.
The architectural style of the Saint Candle Region was distinctly different from Longwu and Monte. Most buildings were low, single-story or two-story structures with thick walls made of light yellow stone.
The streets were wide, lined with trees whose leaves were silvery-gray. Their canopies weren't large, but their dense foliage cast dappled shadows on the ground.
The sky was azure, and the sun shone directly down, without a single cloud to obscure it.
The sight down the street made Liu Yi pause slightly.
There were several rental stations along the road, with uniquely shaped carts parked outside, each displaying a "Ice Source Rental" sign.
Beside the carts stood several tourists in shorts and short-sleeved shirts, each accompanied by Water-type or Ice-type pets. Some led Water Spirit Shells, while others held Ice Fruit Beasts.
Another young man stood in the shade by the street, a silvery-gray scarf around his neck.
The scarf had a subtle sheen flowing across its surface, and Liu Yi recognized the material: a cooling scarf, a special piece of equipment embedded with a miniature energy regulating device, common in hot regions.
He wasn't accompanied by a pet, likely having recalled it to his Beast Taming Space.
Everyone around them either had a pet capable of cooling or wore similar cooling gear.
"These are for Beast Tamers and tourists from out of town," Wei Xiuyu's voice came from beside her, her expression as calm as ever, not a single bead of sweat on her forehead. "The Saint Candle Region has an average annual temperature of around forty-five degrees Celsius, and it can reach sixty degrees in summer."
Liu Yi nodded, her gaze falling on Wei Xiuyu.
Wei Xiuyu was wearing a long-sleeved shirt, buttoned all the way to the top, her collar completely closed.
There were no traces of sweat on her skin, and even her breathing rate hadn't changed due to the high temperature.
Liu Yi knew why.
A Master-rank Beast Tamer.
With over 60% development progress in her Beast Taming Space, the feedback from her contracted pets was enough to alter a Beast Tamer's physique. This wasn't some magical ability, but a natural effect of the deep integration between the Beast Taming Space and the body.
Jinyao poked its head out from her arms, curiously observing everything around them.
Sunlight shone on its fur, its golden coat shimmering with a warm luster, and its mane transitioned from gold to fiery red, appearing like real flames burning under the scorching sun.
It took a deep breath, then let out a tiny sneeze, expelling a small cluster of sparks.
"Yanyan!"
It cried out excitedly, struggling to climb down from Liu Yi's arms.
Liu Yi bent down and placed it on the ground. The moment Jinyao's four short legs touched down, it immediately ran towards the silvery-gray tree by the street.
It looked up at the tree's canopy, stretched out a paw to tap the trunk, then ran back to circle Liu Yi's feet.
"Yanyan! Yanyan!"
It chirped twice, its eyes sparkling.
Ziyue walked out from beside Liu Yi, looking down at Jinyao's excited demeanor. Her eyes held a hint of helplessness, but more so, indulgence.
"Bingbing."
It's very hot here, don't run around.
Jinyao didn't listen; the heat here was actually quite comfortable for it, and it continued to circle Liu Yi's feet.
Chiying hovered beside Liu Yi, scanning its surroundings.
It showed no discomfort; Dragon-type pets naturally possess robust physiques and were completely unaffected by this level of heat.
"Let's go," Wei Xiuyu said. "The hotel is next to the Beast Tamer Association, a five-minute walk."
Liu Yi nodded, scooped Jinyao from the ground back into her arms, and followed Wei Xiuyu, dragging her suitcase.
As they walked out of the Beast Tamer Association's block, their view opened up.
A wide main road stretched out before them, lined with buildings taller than those they had just seen, yet still maintaining the predominant light yellow hue.
At the end of the road was a circular plaza.
In the center of the plaza stood a colossal statue.
Liu Yi stopped.
It was a statue of a lion.
Carved entirely from dark red stone, it stood about thirty meters tall, its four paws firmly planted on the base, its mane erupting outwards like flames.
The craftsmanship was incredibly detailed; the texture of each strand of mane was clearly visible, appearing in varying shades of red under the sunlight, as if real flames were burning.
The statue depicted a lion roaring skyward, its mouth wide open, as if letting out a silent bellow.
Its tail was raised high, the tip curving backward, its end carved into the shape of a cluster of flames.
This statue was of a Blazing Lion.
Below the statue, on its base, two lines of text were carved.
【Guardian of Saint Candle】
【May the Flames Never Extinguish】
Wei Xiuyu's gaze fell upon the statue.
"The Blazing Lion. It's the symbol of the Saint Candle Region. Legend has it that long ago, a Blazing Lion saved this land, and ever since, the locals have regarded the Blazing Lion as their guardian deity."
Jinyao poked its head out from Liu Yi's arms, its eyes reflecting the towering statue.
It tilted its head, stared at the statue for several seconds, then looked down at its own paws, and back up at the statue.
"Yanyan?"
That looks like me.
Liu Yi looked down at Jinyao, then back up at the statue.
The statue was in a posture of roaring skyward, and Jinyao, at this moment, was also tilting its head back, its mouth slightly open.
