She pressed the remote control, and the screen switched.
“The allocation method is as follows: 16,200 contestants will be randomly assigned to three group regions, with 5,400 people per group region. Contestants will travel to their assigned group regions for individual points-based competitions.”
“This means that Phase Two of the competition will no longer be a school team competition, but an individual points-based competition.”
The atmosphere in the conference room instantly changed.
Li Chengying unconsciously sat up straight, and even Gao Xue’s expression became serious.
Wei Xiuyu continued, “The venues for Phase Two will not utilize specialized battlegrounds, but rather standard arenas.”
A clear sigh of relief rippled through the conference room.
Li Chengying leaned back, slumping into her chair.
“However—”
Wei Xiuyu’s voice deepened, and everyone’s hearts tightened again.
She pressed the remote control, and several lines of text appeared on the projection screen:
【The environment for each match is randomized and will be drawn by the system before the match. It may include: ordinary flat ground, rocky terrain, aquatic terrain, sandy terrain, grassy terrain, icy terrain, or forest terrain.】
【Environmental information will be announced after both parties confirm their deployed pets, but before the match begins.】
The conference room was silent for a moment, then erupted in chatter.
Li Chengying was the first to exclaim, “It can be like that?! Doesn’t that just come down to pure luck?”
Gao Xue pressed her shoulder, “Let Teacher Wei finish.”
Wei Xiuyu waited for the discussions to gradually subside before continuing, “Environmental information will be announced after both parties confirm their deployed pets, but before the match begins. This means you will have a short time to adjust your tactics based on the terrain, but you cannot change your pets.”
She paused, her gaze sweeping over everyone present, “Therefore, you need to prepare your pets to handle various terrains.”
Ouyang Qin quickly jotted notes in her notebook, her brows slightly furrowed. Wei Tan’an exchanged a look with her teammate beside her, both their expressions somewhat solemn.
Liu Yi leaned back in her chair, tapping her fingers lightly on the armrest twice.
Wei Xiuyu continued.
“For the match rules, each round will be 1v1, and both sides can send out two pets, same as Phase One. After each round, both sides may change their pets.”
She pressed the remote control: “When both pets of one side are incapacitated, the round ends, and the other side wins. If both sides are incapacitated simultaneously, the round is declared a draw.”
A table showing the victory and defeat criteria appeared on the large screen.
“Next are the match outcome criteria and points rules. You can just look at this table.”
【2:0 victory: Winning side gets 3 points, losing side gets 0 points】
【2:1 victory: Winning side gets 2 points, losing side gets 1 point】
【Draw: Both sides get 1 point each】
“This time, only basic points will be used; there will be no cross-grade bonus points as in Phase One.”
“After each contestant completes all their matches, the points obtained from each match will be added together to get their total personal points, and they will be ranked from highest to lowest based on their total personal points.”
“If there is a tie in points,” Wei Xiuyu pressed the remote control, and the screen switched to the next page, “the ranking will be determined in the following order: First, the one with more total victories ranks higher; Second, the one with more 2:0 victories ranks higher; Third, the one with a superior head-to-head record ranks higher; Fourth, a lottery will decide.”
Some people in the conference room murmured in low voices.
“Advancement conditions: After Phase Two, from the 5,400 contestants in each of the Qingming, Glorious Domain, and Feiluo group regions, the top 86 in total points will advance to the National High School League Finals. That’s 86 multiplied by 3, meaning a total of 258 people will advance to the Finals.”
After Wei Xiuyu finished speaking, the conference room was silent for a moment.
“That’s basically the Phase Two competition format.” Wei Xiuyu placed the remote control on the table, crossing her arms. “Next, I will announce each of your assignments.”
The image on the projection screen switched.
Li Chengying stared at the screen, not daring to blink.
The names and assigned group regions of the 15 members of the Tianqi School Team were displayed one by one.
Li Chengying — Feiluo Group Region.
Gao Xue — Qingming Group Region.
Ouyang Qin — Qingming Group Region.
Wei Tan'an — Feiluo Group Region.
Chu Qian — Qingming Group Region.
Xie Jing — Feiluo Group Region.
Murong Qing — Qingming Group Region.
Tang Xuejian — Feiluo Group Region.
Song Qingshu — Qingming Group Region.
Lu Yiming — Feiluo Group Region.
Han Feiyu — Qingming Group Region.
Meng Xinghai — Feiluo Group Region.
Bai Yutang — Qingming Group Region.
Qiulan — Feiluo Group Region.
And, the last line.
Liu Yi — Glorious Domain.
“Huh? Liu Yi is in a group region all by herself?” Li Chengying turned to look at Liu Yi, her tone surprised. “We’re all assigned to Qingming and Feiluo, so why is Liu Yi going to Glorious Domain alone?”
Gao Xue was also looking at the screen, her brows slightly furrowed: “Random assignment, a matter of probability.”
Liu Yi said nothing.
Wei Xiuyu ignored the team members’ discussions and continued.
“Regarding the coaching staff’s assignments.” She pressed the remote control, and the screen switched to the next page.
【Tianqi Beast Taming High School · Phase Two Coaching Staff Assignments】
【Qingming Group Region: Coach Zhang Meng, Coach Li Qiuyi】
【Feiluo Group Region: Coach Cui Minghai, Coach Zhao Yuanfan】
【Glorious Domain: Coach Wei Xiuyu】
“Team members in the Qingming Group Region and Feiluo Group Region will be led by Coach Zhang and Coach Li, and Coach Cui and Coach Zhao, respectively.”
She paused, her gaze falling on Liu Yi.
“I will lead the Glorious Domain side.”
“Specific departure times will be announced separately,” Wei Xiuyu said. “Phase Two is expected to begin in two weeks, giving you a little over a week to prepare. During this time, focus on targeted training.”
“Dismissed.”
The team members gradually stood up, packed their belongings, and left the conference room.
“Liu Yi, stay behind.”
Liu Yi stopped.
The others left one after another, and soon only she and Wei Xiuyu remained in the conference room.
Wei Xiuyu turned around, leaned against the windowsill, crossed her arms, and her gaze fell on Liu Yi.
“For Phase Two, have you considered letting Jinyao participate?”
Liu Yi tapped her fingers lightly on the side of her leg.
“I have. Although Jinyao just hatched recently, its talent is not bad, and it also has a strong fighting spirit. In Monte, it wanted to spar with Ziyue and Chiying every day, and after returning, it has been challenging Boxing Bunny every day.”
She paused, then continued: “If any of the opponents assigned in Phase Two have Junior stage pets, I will let Jinyao participate.”
