She handed the card back to Liu Yi, a professional smile reappearing on her face. “It’s confirmed for you. Training Ground 7 on the third floor of the Association is currently vacant and can be used until 6 PM. This is a temporary pass, please keep it safe.”
She handed over a white card, bearing the Monte Beast Tamer Association’s emblem and the number “7”.
“Thank you.” Liu Yi took the card and turned towards the elevator.
The elevator doors slowly closed before her, and Liu Yi pressed the button for the third floor.
Through the transparent cabin walls, she could see the bustling crowd in the Monte Beast Tamer Association’s hall. Several contestants in school uniforms were at the service desk, seemingly there to use the training grounds as well.
Ziyue squatted at her feet, her purple eyes curiously examining the elevator’s interior design. Unlike Longwu’s, the Monte Beast Tamer Association’s elevator had a transparent display screen embedded in its cabin wall, continuously showing introductions to the Association’s facilities.
“Third floor, exclusive training grounds.” The text on the screen caught Ziyue’s attention. She tilted her head, watched for a few seconds, then gently patted Liu Yi’s calf with her paw.
“Bingbing?”
Are there training grounds here too?
“Yes,” Liu Yi said, looking down to rub her ears. “It’s larger than the hotel’s and a bit quieter.”
The elevator stopped on the third floor, and the moment the doors opened, a bright corridor appeared before them.
On either side of the corridor were entrances to training grounds numbered 1 to 10, each with an electronic screen displaying its current usage status.
Liu Yi found Training Ground 7 and swiped the temporary pass on the electronic screen.
“Beep—Training Ground 7, booked. Booker: Liu Yi. Usage time: 09:00-18:00.”
The electronic door slid open silently.
The training ground was much larger than Liu Yi had imagined. The entire space was rectangular, with the floor covered in special materials capable of withstanding skill impacts. In the center was a standard battle arena, surrounded by spectator and rest areas.
Most notably, one side of the venue simulated the floating island environment of the Monte Region—several floating islands of varying sizes hovered in the air, their energy shields emitting a faint blue light.
“It seems the Monte Beast Tamer Association is very thoughtful,” Liu Yi murmured, her gaze sweeping over the floating islands. “This is perfect for Ziyue to practice Ice Crystal Doppelganger while also learning how to use her skills in this environment.”
Ziyue’s ears immediately perked up, and her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
Chiying, meanwhile, flew from her side into the air above the arena, circled once, then landed on one of the floating islands, testing its stability.
Liu Yi walked to the rest area and placed her backpack on a chair. She took out Ziyue’s and Chiying’s latent energy pills and offered them.
“First, replenish your energy,” she said. “We have two main tasks today.”
Ziyue lapped at the latent energy pill with small sips, watching her intently. Chiying also hovered beside her, awaiting her instructions.
“Ziyue,” Liu Yi turned to the Snow-Drinking Fox. “Continue practicing Ice Crystal Doppelganger. You were already able to create stable doppelgangers at the hotel, but their duration isn’t long enough, and the replication of energy fluctuations isn’t precise enough.”
Ziyue nodded seriously.
“Today’s goal is for the doppelganger to last at least one minute,” Liu Yi said, holding up a finger. “At the same time, you need to try to conceal your own aura while the doppelganger exists. The more realistic the doppelganger, and the more hidden your true body, the more valuable this skill becomes.”
“Bingbing!” Ziyue cried confidently, her tail held high.
“Chiying,” Liu Yi turned to Chiying. “I’ve chosen a new skill for you.”
Liu Yi took out her notebook from her bag and opened it. It was densely filled with notes—skill information she had spent a good amount of time organizing last night.
Chiying leaned closer to the paper, its crimson eyes scanning every word.
“Dragon’s Breath,” Liu Yi read out the skill’s name. “Exhales a breath imbued with Dragon-type energy, dealing damage. Also has a chance to inflict a special status effect related to its secondary attribute.”
Chiying’s eyes lit up slightly. It leaned in, carefully reading the description.
“Your secondary attribute is Poison,” Liu Yi continued. “So if the additional effect triggers, it should be a highly venomous state. Although this skill is only B-rank, its effect, in my opinion, is quite good; I’m surprised it wasn’t rated an A-rank skill.”
She paused, her gaze falling on the small print at the bottom of the card: “However, it has a learning requirement: Dragon-type pets with a bloodline purity of ≥50%. This isn’t a low requirement; most Dragon-type pets can’t meet it.”
Chiying looked up, a hint of question in its crimson eyes.
“Mo?”
Liu Yi understood its meaning, and the corners of her lips curved upward slightly. “Of course you’re fine.”
She put the card away, her tone firm. “With your True Dragon’s Eye and Cloud Walking traits, your bloodline purity definitely exceeds 50%. Dragon’s Breath shouldn’t be difficult for you.”
Hearing this, Chiying gently swayed its tail, a hint of satisfaction flashing in its eyes.
“However,” Liu Yi changed the subject, “this skill requires you to simultaneously mobilize Dragon attribute and Poison attribute energy, fusing them together before exhaling. This is much more complex than a simple Dragon Starfall or Dragon’s Rage.”
“Mo,” Chiying nodded, indicating understanding.
“Then let’s try it first,” Liu Yi said. “Feel how the two attributes of energy merge.”
Chiying flew to the center of the arena, hovering about a meter above the ground. It closed its eyes, and a faint golden light began to emanate from its body—that was Dragon-type energy circulating.
At the same time, a layer of purplish-black aura also seeped from the gaps in its scales—that was Poison-type energy.
The two energies intertwined on its body, gold and purplish-black wrapping around each other, yet showing no signs of fusion.
Chiying frowned slightly, attempting to compress them together.
The golden light and purplish-black aura vibrated violently, then with a “poof,” dissipated simultaneously.
Chiying opened its eyes and looked at Liu Yi.
“For a first attempt, being able to mobilize both attributes simultaneously is already very good,” Liu Yi encouraged. “Fusion isn’t achieved overnight. Take your time.”
Chiying nodded, then closed its eyes again.
On the other side, Ziyue had already begun her practice.
She stood on a floating island, closing her eyes, feeling the Ice-type energy within her body.
An ice-blue glow gathered around her, gradually forming a blurry ice crystal outline beside her. The outline slowly became clearer, faintly revealing the shape of a fox.
This time, it was more refined than when she practiced at the hotel, even showing the rudimentary form of two tails.
After the doppelganger formed, Ziyue began to try and conceal her own aura.
The energy fluctuations around her gradually weakened, while the glow of the ice crystal fox became more stable.
One second, two seconds, three seconds...
After ten seconds, Ziyue’s aura was finally completely concealed, and the Ice Crystal Doppelganger remained steadily suspended beside her.
