Chapter 158 · Volume 1

Will Suddenly Accelerate

Liu Yi's fingers lightly tapped her thigh.
Had she misremembered?
Or had the incubator truly moved?
She stood up and circled the incubator, carefully observing the ground around it.
The Beast Taming Space's floor was pure white, with no markings for reference. But with her perception of the space, there was indeed a subtle difference in that spot.
Liu Yi's gaze fell back to the egg.
The egg still lay quietly in the incubator, its surface's flame patterns flickering rhythmically, showing no abnormalities.
But that fluctuation...
“Was that you?” Liu Yi asked softly, her gaze on the pet egg inside the observation window.
She reached out, gently stroking the incubator's casing.
The silvery-white metal felt cool and smooth to the touch, and through her fingertips, she could feel a faint pulse from within. It was the pet egg's life fluctuation, steady and rhythmic, like a tiny heart beating.
“Just over ten days left...” Liu Yi murmured softly, “It'll be soon.”
She crouched before the incubator for a while longer, confirming that the fluctuation hadn't reappeared, before slowly standing up.
Her gaze swept across the entire Beast Taming Space once more; everything was as usual.
Liu Yi slowly opened her eyes, her consciousness withdrawing from the Beast Taming Space.
The room's lighting was soft and warm, and the floating island night view outside the window remained brilliant. She sat on the sofa, her gaze fixed on the empty space in the center of the room, where there was nothing but air gently flowing.
Ziyue had already been resummoned and was now crouching at her feet, her purple eyes watching her with concern.
Chiying also hovered beside her, a hint of worry in its crimson eyes.
“Bingbing?”
Ziyue nuzzled her palm with its head, letting out a soft cry.
“It's nothing,” Liu Yi said, rubbing Ziyue's ear, a slight smile playing on her lips. “Just... a strange feeling.”
After hearing this, Ziyue's ears twitched, and it tilted its head to look at her.
“Bingbing?”
Could it be the Blaze Lion moving?
Liu Yi paused slightly.
Pets do have slight movements inside their eggs, especially as hatching approaches. Such activity can cause energy fluctuations throughout the egg, and a tiny displacement isn't impossible.
However, generally speaking, such movements are very subtle and short-lived. More importantly, pet eggs are usually secured within an incubator and shouldn't move easily.
Unless—
What if it really wants to see you?
A thought suddenly flashed through Liu Yi's mind.
She recalled how, in the Myriad Realm Secret Realm, Chiying had emerged from its shell, pushing through an indistinct golden light, determined to come out, and finally appeared before her.
And on the day Ziyue hatched, Liu Yi had returned home from school just in time to witness the Ice Fox's pet egg crack open.
The little fox, still wearing half its eggshell, looked at her blankly, its purple eyes filled with an innate closeness.
“Could it be like that...?” Liu Yi murmured to herself, her gaze falling on the empty space in the center of the room.
There was nothing there, but she knew that within her Beast Taming Space, an egg was nurturing a new life.
Ziyue seemed to sense her emotions, gently nuzzling her palm.
Chiying also slowly descended, touching her cheek with its dragon horn.
Liu Yi smiled, reaching out to pat both pets' heads. “Don't worry, whether it wants to come out or not, it's still too early.”
She checked the time; it was almost ten o'clock.
“Let's get some rest,” she said, standing up and walking to the bed. “There's still a match tomorrow.”
Ziyue immediately jumped onto the bed, found its usual spot, and lay down. Its two tails rested gently on the edge of the bed, and its purple eyes half-closed, quickly entering a state of light sleep.
Chiying coiled on its exclusive mat in the corner of the room, its golden patterns flickering faintly with its breathing, and soon quieted down as well.
Liu Yi turned off the light and lay on the bed.

The District A waiting area was located on the second floor north of the main arena. Its structure was similar to Districts C and E, also a circular hall with floor-to-ceiling windows all around, offering a clear view of the real-time situation in various battle zones outside.
At this moment, quite a few contestants had already gathered in the waiting area. Some were discussing tactics in small groups, some sat alone in corners, quietly preparing, and a few stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows, observing the battle zones outside.
Liu Yi found a spot with an open view. Ziyue crouched at her feet, and Chiying hovered beside her.
From this angle, she could clearly see the five battle zones in District A.
Zone 1 had only four floating islands, Zone 2 had five, Zone 3 had four, and Zone 4... Liu Yi's gaze fell towards the distant battleground where she was about to make her appearance.
District A Battle Zone 4 consisted of three floating islands.
The three floating islands were arranged in a 'pin' character formation, with a larger one in the center. The other two, smaller ones, were located on the left and right sides of the central island, respectively.
Currently, the three floating islands were moving.
However, their movement patterns were distinctly different from those in Districts C and E.
The larger central floating island rotated at a steady speed while slowly revolving along a circular orbit with a radius of about ten meters.
The two smaller floating islands on the left and right sides were much more active; they not only rotated on their own axes but also moved irregularly around the central island, sometimes drawing near, sometimes moving away, and their speed was noticeably much faster than the floating islands in other zones.
“This movement speed...” Liu Yi murmured softly, “It's certainly fast.”
Ziyue's ears twitched, and its purple eyes intently watched the moving floating islands, seemingly calculating their movement patterns.
Chiying, meanwhile, rose slightly, observing the entire area from a higher vantage point. Its eyes were calm, showing no fluctuations due to the characteristics of this arena. For it, this movement speed indeed posed no threat.
In the waiting area, several contestants were also discussing the arena in District A, Zone 4.
“That Zone 4, it has too few floating islands, just three...”
“Few indeed, but the movement speed is fast. Look at that small one; its orbiting speed is more than double that of other zones.”
“How are we supposed to fight like this? If a pet jumps onto that small floating island, it'll be gone the next second. If you don't time your jump perfectly, you'll fall.”
“That's why you need to predict in advance. You can't just follow the floating islands; you have to anticipate their trajectories.”
“Easier said than done. With that speed, how are you supposed to predict anything?”
Liu Yi listened quietly, not participating in the discussion.
Her gaze remained fixed on the three moving floating islands in Zone 4, observing their movement patterns.
The central main island's movement pattern was relatively fixed—a rotation period of about fifteen seconds and a revolution period of about forty seconds.
The movement patterns of the two smaller secondary islands on the left and right were more complex. They not only revolved around the central main island but also had their own rotation axes, and their revolution speed was not constant, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, and at certain positions, they would even suddenly accelerate.
At 9:20 AM, the lights in District A's battle zones illuminated, and the first segment of matches was about to begin.
