Once Wan Qianhong snapped back to her senses, she gripped the tube of potion tightly, shielding it against her chest as if she were afraid someone might snatch it away.
The other Scavengers from the East District swarmed around instantly, looking on with curiosity.
“How are you so sure? Have you seen this before?” Wan Qianhong asked, looking at Bai Feifei with extreme tension.
“No need to be so nervous. You’re holding it so high, people might think you’re trying to breastfeed it,” Xu Mo said with a shrug.
He looked around at the Action Team members currently being pinned down by the East District group.
“Well, if you don’t believe me, we might as well test it out right here.”
With that, he pointed at one of the Action Team members. “Let’s use him. A human experiment. Pour this stuff down his throat and see what happens.”
The Action Team member’s face went pale, and he nearly wet himself. He screamed instantly, “No! Don’t kill me! It has nothing to do with me! I was just following orders, I really don’t know anything!”
“I can be a witness! I’ll say whatever you need me to say! District Head Wan, save me!”
The man writhed like a madman, desperately trying to crawl away from “Bai Feifei.”
In his eyes, the girl before him was no different from a demon.
When others threatened to kill, it might just be a bluff, but “Bai Feifei” actually did it. To her, taking a life seemed no different than eating or drinking.
He was completely submissive now, not daring to mention the law or regulations. Instead, he pleaded directly with Wan Qianhong.
As the head of the East District, Wan Qianhong naturally couldn't agree to such a human experiment. She quickly raised a hand to “Bai Feifei.”
“Stop! That’s enough. No more killing, alright? This doesn’t align with procedural justice. These people can serve as witnesses.”
The surrounding Action Team Scavengers all nodded their heads frantically like chickens pecking at grain, shouting in unison, “Yes, yes! We can all be witnesses!”
Every single one of them was terrified that if they showed the slightest hint of defiance, the girl in the blood-stained clothes would take their heads.
She had even killed Huang Cheng, a Rank 4 Scavenger! It was simply too terrifying.
Seeing that “Bai Feifei” showed no signs of continuing the slaughter, Wan Qianhong finally looked down at the small tube of potion in her hand, her heart a mix of grief and relief.
She was relieved because the long-standing disputes over this coal mine finally had a breakthrough piece of evidence.
The grief, however, was simpler. Huang Cheng was part of the Inner City Action Team—he had been sent by the Inner City!
There was bound to be the shadow of some Inner City heavyweight behind this. When such a massive anomalous energy spike occurred at the coal mine, their first thought was still their own dark dealings.
Over the years, beneath this unregulated coal mine, how much darkness had transpired? How many innocent souls were buried here?
Wan Qianhong didn't dare to imagine.
At that moment, Yang Shuo walked over to her side with a heavy expression and whispered, “Boss, Huang Cheng... his surname is Huang.”
It was a redundant statement; everyone knew Huang Cheng’s last name was Huang.
However, that surname carried significant weight in the Inner City. The Huang family was one of the five major families of Dawn City’s Inner City.
Wan Qianhong’s brow furrowed as she thought about the name, and she suddenly remembered something.
The reason Bai Feifei had become a sinner in the first place was because she had killed Huang Jiahao during the assessment test.
And Huang Jiahao was the young master of the Huang family!
Wan Qianhong looked up at “Bai Feifei” with a strange light in her eyes.
“You’ve always felt that family was problematic, haven’t you?”
Xu Mo was confused. Looking at Wan Qianhong’s expression, he couldn't understand why this woman suddenly looked like that.
What “that family”? What exactly is going on in her head?
Your wild imaginations really shock even this Evil God...
Wan Qianhong took “Bai Feifei’s” silence as a personal secret and didn't press further. She simply sighed and said, “If this vile substance is related to Huang Cheng, then he deserved to die!”
“It’s just... you’re still too impulsive. If Huang Cheng were alive, he would be worth more.”
“We could have taken him in to confront the Inner City and expose the entire chain of people behind him.”
Xu Mo crossed his arms, staring at Wan Qianhong’s naive assumptions with utter speechless.
“Sister, give it a rest. Why are you still talking about laws and power struggles? This is a high-power world.”
“Even if you took Huang Cheng back, the people behind him would just perform a tactical disassociation. They’d claim they knew nothing. What could you do then?”
“In fact, they’d probably bite back and say you planted the potion on him. You’d be fuming until you gave yourself a tumor from the stress.”
As he spoke, Xu Mo gave the dead Huang Cheng a casual kick.
“So, if you get the chance to kill trash like this, do it immediately. Once the moment passes, it's gone for good. Don't spend the rest of your life regretting that you didn't kill them sooner.”
Xu Mo was speaking from a history of blood and tears!
When he first started playing games, he had played through story-driven campaigns. The frustration could be truly unbearable.
If he missed out on a good item, so be it. But failing to kill an annoying NPC was something he’d truly regret! He’d want to rewind just to get the kill.
Wan Qianhong looked at “Bai Feifei,” momentarily speechless. She wondered what this girl had gone through to become so extreme.
Xu Mo stomped on the floor beneath him and continued, “By the way, my kill was perfectly timed. You don't understand the risks. Being a bleeding heart can lead to a lot of extra trouble.”
“Do you have any idea what would have happened if he’d gotten desperate and thrown that potion down below?”
Wan Qianhong then remembered that “Bai Feifei” had mentioned blowing up the floor from the start.
She looked down. Compared to the surrounding rock walls, the ground here had a protruding section, as if it had been covered up later.
“There’s something down there?” Wan Qianhong asked. Without wasting time, she turned to the group. “Set up a precision demolition on this floor. Everyone except the demolition crew, fall back.”
Xu Mo leisurely walked to the wall, with Ye Yu following behind her idol like a little lost puppy.
The East District Scavengers divided into teams and placed fixed amounts of explosives around the edges of the protruding ground.
Boom!
Amidst the roar of the explosives, a circle of cracks appeared along the edges of the protrusion.
Yang Shuo took a large stride forward and let out a long breath, finally using his Word Soul for the first time:
【My body is like iron, indestructible!】
