Liang Shuguang stared in shock at the black-and-white form before him, a form he had never seen before, his lips twitching slightly.
In all the intelligence he had gathered before, there had never been any mention of such a thing...
Moreover, did his opponent just chant two Word Souls in one breath? A combination technique of Word Souls?
And their aura had surged by this much?!
Regardless of what Liang Shuguang was thinking, Xu Mo was highly satisfied with his current form. He touched his black wing, flexed his arm covered in the remarkably textured armor, and smiled at Bai Feifei:
“Whoa! It actually worked!”
He had previously decided not to contain the other's Blood Medal for the time being precisely because he wanted to test this possibility.
He had actually pulled it off!
“What do you think? Isn't this look awesome?”
“I think we need to give it a name. How about 'Sinking Spotless Black and White Tyrant Dragon War God'?”
The half of the face controlled by Bai Feifei twitched visibly.
A few seconds later, she spoke with a sigh, “That is completely beside the point...”
And what kind of ridiculous name is that?!
By contrast, as Bai Feifei felt the surging power within her body, she felt as if she were no longer herself.
Could her body actually unleash such incredible power?
Xu Mo turned his head slightly. His pitch-black left eye and Bai Feifei's blazing white right eye locked onto Liang Shuguang ahead of them at the same time.
“Was I being a bit too easygoing with you earlier?” Xu Mo grinned.
The moment the words left his mouth, he raised his hand and clenched it in front of him.
Black and white currents of energy intertwined wildly in his palm, condensing into a broadsword the size of a door in the blink of an eye.
One half of the blade was as pitch-black as ink, while the other was as brilliantly white as light. Along the dividing line in the middle, the energies clashed violently, constantly producing blinding sparks and low, muffled sonic booms.
Thud!
With a dull thud, the black and white wings on Xu Mo's back suddenly flapped, and in the blink of an eye, he was right in front of Liang Shuguang.
Liang Shuguang's pupils contracted. Having grown accustomed to the previous level of intensity, he was caught completely off guard.
He instinctively held the dark red glaive in his hand horizontally in front of him.
Boom!
The broadsword slammed heavily against the glaive. The black and white energies erupted simultaneously upon contact, repelling and detonating each other to blast outward in a cloud of unstable, chaotic light.
The shockwave caused the entire black cocoon to tremble violently. His arms went completely numb, and the terrifying force sent him flying through the air, only coming to a halt far away in midair.
Liang Shuguang looked down at the black and white energy still corroding his wrists, then raised his head, his eyes filled with bewilderment.
“Are you... Sinking Black?” He stared at the god-and-demon-like figure, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Xu Mo stood in place holding the broadsword, only grinning in response.
“Hehe.”
“You'd better be careful. Don't go dying on me just because I put a little effort into this.”
With that, he swiped his empty hand over his wrist, and a magnificent golden crown materialized out of thin air, floating quietly above his palm.
It was none other than S-079, the Crown of Time Lag!
Golden ripples of light expanded outward, slowing time down by ten thousand times wherever they passed.
Liang Shuguang's newly raised hand froze in space, his eyeballs trembling inside their sockets at an extremely slow speed.
Xu Mo's figure, however, was completely unaffected by the time lag. He lifted his broadsword, the white and black wings unfurling behind his back.
He didn't even bother to take his time and mock his opponent, instead instantly rushing right in front of Liang Shuguang.
The broadsword slashed horizontally, cutting straight through his waist!
Liang Shuguang's upper and lower halves separated in the same instant. No blood gushed from the severed wound; instead, a strange, grey substance resembling old cotton batting drifted out from the cross-section.
His lower and upper halves drifted lazily in two different directions, his eyes continuing to tremble frantically.
But just as Xu Mo was about to decapitate him with a second strike, the Blood Medal of Choice on Liang Shuguang's chest suddenly burst with light.
A dark red glow enveloped his severed body, instantly neutralizing the effect of the time lag. His upper and lower halves crashed onto the ground simultaneously.
The two halves of his body then shriveled up like two sheets of skin, slowly crawling toward each other before piecing themselves back together.
In the blink of an eye, the reassembled figure swelled back up, transforming into a fresh Liang Shuguang.
Xu Mo raised an eyebrow. This couldn't possibly be an Escape Art; he had no idea what kind of bizarre technique this was.
The man certainly had a lot of tricks up his sleeve. Someone who could control S-024 was not an opponent who could be dealt with by simply using the Crown of Time Lag.
“You certainly have some skill,” Xu Mo remarked.
Supporting himself with one hand, Liang Shuguang slowly stood up. He rolled his neck and looked up at Xu Mo, a trace of contemplation in his eyes.
“Did you leave a fragment of your consciousness inside her, allowing you to descend and help at any moment?” Liang Shuguang attempted to guess.
He paused, his lips curving upward slightly. “Heh... Still, your current state is a bit weak. It is different from the Sinking Black I imagined.”
“But that is also understandable. Is your strength different because you are traveling across different timelines?”
Hearing him spout such serious, completely unfounded nonsense, Xu Mo almost couldn't keep a straight face.
“What kind of bullshit are you guessing?” he cursed, resting the broadsword on his shoulder. “You really have a wild imagination, but basically not a single word is correct.”
“Your gaming experience and cognition are both pretty lacking. How about I try guessing about you instead?”
Liang Shuguang froze, remaining silent.
“I remember that inside the jade pendant on Huang Jiahao, there seemed to be something like a resentful spirit,” Xu Mo said, recalling his memories from his previous playthroughs of the game.
He wouldn't remember it wrong; he had killed Huang Jiahao countless times, so he knew exactly what was inside that jade pendant.
“But just now, when you formed this black space, you were able to take that thing away.”
He raised his eyes, his pitch-black left eye staring straight at Liang Shuguang. “Combining that with what Liu Yun said earlier about you being corrupted by the Evil Gods of the Old Days...”
“Does the part of the Evil God that corrupted you have something to do with souls?”
Liang Shuguang's brow twitched, his forehead creasing.
“Including that roar you let out earlier,” Xu Mo continued, having no intention of engaging in a back-and-forth conversation. “That ability felt like it was related to a soul shock as well, directly wiping out sanity.”
“So it really must be soul-related. You're not going to tell me you have the throat of some Evil God, are you?”
“Furthermore, both you and Liu Yun were likely affected, except you bore a greater portion of it.” He curled his lips, his smile growing increasingly playful.
“As for whether there's some melodramatic story behind this, like who took on more for the sake of the other, I won't bother guessing.”
At this point, Xu Mo's own train of thought had become much clearer. He slammed the heavy sword onto the ground and asked:
“By the way, considering that both you and Liu Yun started losing control after saying certain things...”
“Are there some things you simply cannot speak of? And if you do, you'll suffer a backlash?”
Throughout Xu Mo's words, Liang Shuguang had not shown any major reaction.
But with almost every sentence that fell, his expression shifted a bit more, astonishment and shock wavering in his eyes.
