Chapter 182 · Volume 1

One Path of the North District Riot: Assemble-a-Monster!

Feng Guozhi felt humiliated, his fiery temper making him want to curse out loud.
However, he had been present during the last "cultural exchange" at Qingping Academy. He had seen Bai Feifei's methods with his own eyes, watching her directly murder a Yaoguang instructor while Principal Zheng couldn't even suppress her.
At that thought, he forced his temper down.
“What do you mean by that, Teacher Bai?” he asked, keeping his tone as calm as possible.
“If you insist on staying here, then I'll leave these students in your hands. You don't need to trouble yourself with the fighting.”
With that, he charged forward, blade in hand.
He figured that if he cleared out these aberrations, he could salvage some of his dignity in front of this woman.
He rushed forward quickly and struck fiercely, as if he were competing with someone.
A flash of blade light cleaved a stone aberration in two. His movements were clean, proving he did possess some genuine strength.
The students from Yaoguang Academy huddled in the back, trembling. Their bodies were stiff, and they didn't even dare to breathe too loudly.
Leave them in this woman's hands?
Were they serious...
Seeing Feng Guozhi engage, Bai Feifei drew her long sword, preparing to move in and steal the kills.
“No rush,” Xu Mo suddenly spoke in her mind. “You don't have to kill these little things yet. Wait a bit, and we should see something interesting.”
Bai Feifei was startled, but she didn't ask why.
Previously, this Evil God had wished she could hunt aberrations twenty-four hours a day.
There had to be a reason for him to make this choice now.
Feng Guozhi slashed down several aberrations in a row. With his blade stained with dark purple blood, he glanced back at Bai Feifei, feeling a surge of confidence.
And she said I couldn't handle this?
This minor nuisance is nothing!
Just as the thought crossed his mind, the ground beneath him suddenly shook.
Realizing they couldn't defeat him, several aberrations glowed with intense light. They exchanged glances and, with surprising intelligence, retreated a few paces.
Then, they began to crash into one another.
Bang!
Several aberrations slammed together violently, their gravel-like flesh and blood churning into a single mass.
Immediately after, the corpses of the aberrations he had just killed also began to move.
Broken fragments bounced off the ground, drawn together as if pulled by a magnet, crashing into the central mass.
Within a few breaths, a massive entity stood up.
Standing four meters tall, an aberration covered in jagged, craggy stones swayed before them.
It had five or six arms of varying lengths, each ending in a boulder shaped like a flail.
Its aura also began to surge rapidly.
Soon, it reached the level of a Type 5 Aberration.
Standing at the very front with his blade still dripping with foul blood, Feng Guozhi's confident expression froze.
Aberrations could piece themselves together?
What the hell was this thing?!
...
In the camp's monitoring room, dozens of eyes stared intently at the screens.
None of them were blind. The assessors from the various academies were completely dumbfounded.
“This... fusion?!” An academy deputy dean's voice cracked. “How can they fuse? What kind of aberration is this?!”
“Their strength actually spiked instantly after merging?”
“Unheard of! Nothing like this has ever happened before!”
“What is this thing? It's still growing! This has completely exceeded the boundaries of normal aberrations!”
Liu Yun did not speak. She merely watched Bai Feifei on the screen, while keeping an eye on Xie Xuan from the corner of her vision.
Xie Xuan's face was dark. His hand pressed against the table, making it creak under the pressure.
“Those bastards!” he spat with deep hatred. “Have they already progressed to this point...”
...
Out on the red soil, the creature was still growing.
The surrounding aberration corpses were continuously drawn to it, merging into its body.
In Bai Feifei's mind, Xu Mo spoke in a tone that suggested he had expected this all along.
“This is one of the paths of the North District riot: Assemble-a-Monster!”
Previously, whenever he had played this part, there were several possible riot scenarios, and this was one of them.
All the aberrations—even their corpses—would gather together, their strength continuously growing. If left unchecked, it could even spawn an aberration on par with a Prophet!
It was absolutely absurd.
Bai Feifei's heart skipped a beat. “What is 'Assemble-a-Monster'?”
“Exactly what it sounds like,” Xu Mo said. “Once these things piece themselves together, their strength skyrockets.”
“For it to appear so early this time... it seems to be related to you killing that Wang Gaofeng.”
Bai Feifei: ?
Bai Feifei fell silent.
What did he mean, "that Wang Gaofeng she killed"?
Standing out in front, Feng Guozhi was utterly dumbfounded.
All those kills he had just made now seemed completely pointless. The creature's aura was already beginning to terrify him!
But now was not the time for such thoughts.
One of the creature's arms swept forward, the stone flail at its end whistling through the air as it smashed toward his head.
Feng Guozhi dodged to the side. The stone flail slammed into the ground, blasting a crater into the red soil.
Feeling the sheer destructive power of the blow, Feng Guozhi grimaced, knowing it was time to fight for his life.
He swung his long blade with furious momentum, aiming every strike at the monster's vital points.
But this thing had no vital points. Even if an arm was severed, the loose stones on its body would instantly patch the wound and grow a new one.
Furthermore, it was still absorbing the smaller aberrations around it, continuing to grow.
Feng Guozhi looked up at the monster, which was now nearly four meters tall, feeling as though his strikes were doing nothing more than scratching an itch.
His expression completely changed.
His earlier confidence and bravado were shattered into dust.
He had only known that Yaoguang Academy was cheating a little, and he had turned a blind eye to let the students farm some points.
But he had absolutely no idea things would turn out like this!
Or rather, he was completely in the dark regarding the conspiracy behind this Graduation Show.
A creature of this caliber was not something he could handle alone.
But right now, the only person present who had the power to help seemed to be...
His face instantly flushed red as he recalled his own words from moments ago, claiming he could handle the fighting himself.
Originally, he wanted to handle it alone to show everyone that Yaoguang Academy didn't need to rely on Qingping Academy's favor.
But now... survival was far more important than pride.
And so, he cried out.
“Teacher Bai! We can't let this thing keep growing!”
“It's going to get stronger and stronger! Help me tear it apart before it's too late!”
Even without his plea, Bai Feifei had already intended to act. Her knees bent slightly as she prepared to launch herself forward.
In her mind, Xu Mo suddenly chuckled.
“Wait a bit longer.”
Bai Feifei was taken aback. “Wait for what?”
“Wait for it to grow a bit bigger,” Xu Mo said, his voice laced with calculation. “If you kill it now, it won't yield many experience points. Let it absorb a bit more.”
This particular riot path was actually one of his favorites. Although dangerous, it made leveling up incredibly easy.
Bai Feifei: ...
This Evil God...
Even at a time like this, all he cared about was farming experience.
Feng Guozhi glanced back, and from the corner of his eye, he realized that Bai Feifei hadn't budged!
She was simply watching, waiting.
Feng Guozhi: ?
His heart began to sink.
In his momentary distraction, another of the monster's arms slammed down. This time he failed to dodge, taking the flail's blow dead-on in the chest.
He instantly spat out a mouthful of blood and went flying backward.
He didn't want to die.
As Feng Guozhi hurtled through the air, sheer terror seized him, and he instinctively shrieked, “Save me!”
