Chapter 134 · Volume 1

Rooting Out Evil, a Message for the Prophet

As the words fell, a gentle breeze brushed past.
The wind came suddenly, devoid of killing intent, yet it scattered the clouds surrounding Zheng Ziyun.
Zheng Ziyun’s expression shifted as he looked up toward the training hall’s skylight.
A green figure descended from above, landing lightly in the center of the arena and positioning himself between Zheng Ziyun and Xu Mo.
The newcomer appeared to be a middle-aged man in his fifties, wearing a faded green robe. His hair was tied back casually, and his face was lean.
Standing there with his hands behind his back, he glanced at the scattered corpses and then at Xu Mo, who was covered in blood and holding a sword. His lip couldn't help but twitch.
“Senior,” he said, looking at Zheng Ziyun. “Since things have reached this point, please be patient. Let us not allow this to escalate further.”
Zheng Ziyun’s expression flickered between anger and hesitation. He stared at the man for several seconds before huffing, “Zhou Qingfeng?”
Zhou Qingfeng bowed slightly and replied respectfully, “It is I.”
Xu Mo stood on the arena, still holding the blood-dripping longsword. He tilted his head, sizing up this sudden intruder.
On the game panel, the man’s level was firmly set at Level 64.
A somewhat familiar Edgerunner—likely a senior leader of Qingping Academy.
Honestly, this guy was stronger than Zheng Ziyun.
“You seem stronger than him,” Xu Mo laughed. “Why are you being so polite to him?”
Zhou Qingfeng turned to look at Xu Mo.
“Teacher Bai,” he sighed. “You’ve been too impulsive. Put down your sword first.”
Xu Mo didn't move.
“You still want to negotiate with her?!” Watching Zhou Qingfeng’s attitude, Zheng Ziyun couldn't help but start cursing. “Are you blind? Didn't you see what she just did? Disarm her and take her down immediately!”
Zhou Qingfeng frowned, looking quite troubled.
He had always been a guardian within Qingping Academy. When Bai Feifei first arrived, someone had told him her identity was not simple. He hadn't wanted any trouble, so he had stayed hidden, mostly loafing around.
But his loafing had resulted in this mess...
He turned back to Zheng Ziyun and said: “Senior, the situation appears complex. Please, calm yourself as well...”
He tried to persuade him with kind words, but Zheng Ziyun only grew more agitated, immediately mocking him: “You still know to call me senior? I can't accept such respect from you!”
He pointed at “Bai Feifei” and shouted: “As an instructor of your school, she slaughtered people in public! This is the site of a cultural exchange!”
“Back when you were just a junior instructor at Qingping Academy, you had to bow and call me Dean Zheng! Now you’re a big shot Edgerunner, and you show up late just to act important.”
Zheng Ziyun’s way of speaking annoyed Xu Mo. How could someone so worthless be so obsessed with pulling rank?
Did he even know what a real Old-Timer was?!
“Your Qingping Academy has produced such a criminal! I have to discipline her for you! If your Principal were here, I’d give him a piece of my mind!”
With Zhou Qingfeng blocking the way, Xu Mo and Zheng Ziyun were separated. The constriction that had been suppressing Xu Mo earlier had vanished.
Hearing Zheng Ziyun’s incessant noise, a vein throbbed in Xu Mo’s temple, and a black light flashed in his eyes.
Before anyone could react—while everyone assumed the situation had paused—“Bai Feifei” moved!
Xu Mo’s right wrist flicked violently. The silver bracer instantly reassembled in mid-air, transforming into a flying knife that shot straight toward Zheng Ziyun’s face with a sharp whistle!
The blade was too fast. Zheng Ziyun’s words caught in his throat. His pupils shrank as he instinctively jerked his head to the side.
Zheng Ziyun hadn't expected this at all. Caught completely off guard, he had no time to use his Escape Art.
The flying knife grazed his cheek, carving a deep wound that reached the bone. Blood gushed out instantly.
“You!”
He clutched his face and looked up in shock, but the flying knife didn't stop.
The silver bolt of lightning streaked across the entire training hall, and then...
Pfft.
The tip of the blade plunged accurately into someone’s neck.
The man was standing in a corner—one of the Yaoguang Academy instructors who had besieged Xu Mo earlier, and the last one still alive.
His eyes went wide as he clutched the hole in his neck that was spraying blood. His eyes were filled with confusion and bewilderment.
What’s happening?... Am I... dying!?
Thud!
The sound of a body hitting the floor echoed, and Xu Mo let out a long breath.
“Much better. You certainly ran far.”
Silence fell over the entire room.
The reporters were completely dumbfounded. They turned their heads like wooden statues, staring at the relaxed “Bai Feifei” on the stage.
What are you doing?
Zhou Qingfeng stood on the arena, his outstretched hand frozen in mid-air. His face was a mask of shock as he looked back at “Bai Feifei.”
It was as if he were looking at an alien creature.
Things are already like this, and you still found the time to kill one more?
“You!... Why?”
Xu Mo stood in the center of the arena, ignoring the gazes of everyone around him. He simply shrugged.
A brilliant smile spread across his blood-stained face.
“Sorry, I have OCD.”
“Since I’ve already made a move, I might as well finish the job.”
He spoke with pride, as if he had just completed an important task.
But right after he spoke, he turned his head, his gaze falling on Zheng Ziyun, and he corrected himself.
“Oh, I misspoke.” Xu Mo’s smile grew even wider. “Actually, I haven't finished the job yet.”
Hearing those words, amidst his intense shock and fury, Zheng Ziyun felt a chilling sensation crawl up his spine.
“You... You are absolutely lawless!” His voice cracked. “The Inner City will never let someone like you go! Zhou Qingfeng, did you hear what she said?!”
“Is your Qingping Academy really going to protect someone like this?!”
He roared in a rage, but he didn't attack again, clearly retaining a shred of basic rationality.
The reporters finally snapped out of it.
Flashes went off like crazy. The sound of shutters clicking became a continuous drone, more intense than ever before.
They scrambled forward like madmen, aiming their lenses at “Bai Feifei” on the arena, capturing her blood-stained face and her outrageous words.
This was news.
This was a real headline that would ignite a firestorm of public debate!
Xu Mo stood on the arena, facing over a dozen cameras and the frantically flashing lights. He found it quite novel, almost like being a celebrity.
He didn't hide or cover his face. Instead, he leaned closer to the cameras.
“Make sure you get my good side!” he said with a laugh. “I’m your cash cow now, but I won’t charge you any royalties.”
“Hurry back and write your reports. Make them as eye-catching as possible. Feel free to spread some rumors if you need to—be bold!”
The reporters looked at each other, unsure of what expression to make. They could only continue recording.
Seeing that things were winding down, Xu Mo suddenly remembered something and decided to add one last spark.
“Get those reports out as fast as you can. It’s perfect timing...”
“Use this opportunity to help me send a message to Liu Yun!”
