A dull thud echoed as blood splattered across the ground.
"It hurts..."
The body of the dismantler lay on the ground. The alchemical armor on its body emitted pulses of crimson light, slowly swallowing and absorbing the residual flames flickering on its surface.
It struggled to sit up, shaking its head and looking around in confusion before finally locking its gaze on Xu Xiaoyou, who stood not far away.
"Cookies..."
"Living cookies. It hurts... Anton is hurting."
Xu Xiaoyou’s heart pounded.
Her strike, which she had charged for a long time, had only left a shallow black scorch mark on that suit of alchemical armor, failing to cause any real damage to the opponent.
"Anton is so angry! Anton is going to tear off your arm! I'll pull off your head and kick it like a ball!"
The dismantler roared like a mindless bull, spreading its arms and charging forward. With every step, its massive frame caused the ground to tremble.
"Anya."
Xu Xiaoyou barked the command.
"Finish him!"
The white figure beside her lunged out, swift as a bolt of lightning. She sprinted across the ground, instantly entering her Moon Frenzy state. Anya rushed to the front of the dismantler, her sharp claws extending as she met the monster head-on!
The two figures, one large and one small, collided. The blood pool beneath them was churned up. Despite the massive difference in size, they seemed evenly matched. In fact, as Anya braced her feet and applied pressure, the dismantler was slowly forced backward.
The dismantler couldn't understand why this little girl, who looked so small, possessed such savage and unreasonable strength. She was like a humanoid beast, a solid wall blocking its path.
Anya's wild nature was ignited. A crazed expression flashed across her face as she let out a low growl. Her slender body exploded with unbelievable power, slamming the dismantler directly into the wall behind it!
Just as Anya intended to press her advantage and aim for the fragile gaps in the armor to tear it open with her claws, the young girl's voice called out from behind.
"Anya, look out!"
Anya's eyes flickered. She ducked her head sharply just as a violently buzzing chainsaw blade swept over her, missing her wolf ears by a mere hair's breadth.
"Anton is going to tear you apart!"
The alchemical armor on the dismantler flared with intense crimson light. Various weapons—chainsaws, butcher blades, mantis blades—erupted from the suit.
Standing in the pool of blood, it let out a deafening roar that forced the two of them to retreat.
The bright red liquid in the metal canisters on its back churned as if boiling! The flesh and blood packed inside were digested at a visible rate, converting into a constant stream of energy that fused into its body, acting as fuel to animate the alchemical armor.
The metal mask seemed to ignite as two plumes of fire spat from it. Dark red steam billowed from every seam of the armor, shrouding its form.
"Anya, end this quickly."
Xu Xiaoyou commanded, flames rapidly condensing in her hand.
The roar made her eardrums ache. Dodging a flying metal claw, Xu Xiaoyou dashed toward the dismantler, her eyes quickly scanning its body.
The talent of the sword maiden's Mind's Eye activated, and a bright point of light appeared at the armor on the dismantler's arm, right where a spinning circular saw was popping out.
A flaw.
Xu Xiaoyou closed the distance, ducking under the swinging saw. Keeping her eyes fixed on the flaw, her condensed fireball exploded, blowing the dismantler's arm clean off!
BOOM—!
Firelight flickered in the alley.
The thick arm flew through the air amidst the explosion, falling into the pool of blood along with its armor.
A strike on a flaw—a heavy injury dealt!
Wracked with pain, the dismantler looked at its severed arm and was about to roar when Anya’s assault arrived.
It had just raised its remaining hand to block when the girl’s fangs bit through the armor on its forearm, literally ripping the limb off its body.
A mastery-level Bite!
Then, Anya’s sharp claws slashed a cross in front of her, cutting directly through the dismantler’s throat.
Blood erupted in the same cross shape.
Terrified by the ruthless look in Anya’s eyes, the dismantler clutched its gushing throat and retreated, no longer caring about picking up the scattered bits of meat. It turned its bloated belly around, intending to flee the street.
"Anton isn't playing anymore..."
"You're bullying Anton! Anton won't play with you!"
"Anya, pin him down! Don't let him escape!" Xu Xiaoyou shouted. "It'll be trouble if he gets away!"
Anya nodded, her gaze stern. She launched herself forward, performing multiple jumps between the walls with the agility of a ghost. In the blink of an eye, she landed on the dismantler's shoulders.
Opening her hands like a lone wolf about to snap a prey's neck, a cold glint flashed. Her claws plunged deep into the dismantler's neck!
The mountain-like body collapsed heavily, splashing blood against the wall.
With the task finished, the frenzy in Anya’s eyes receded. She hopped lightly off the dismantler and jogged back to Xu Xiaoyou’s side, the ears on her head twitching slightly.
Seeing the girl’s obedient appearance, Xu Xiaoyou reached out and patted Anya’s head.
After nearly a month of training, Anya’s stats while in Moon Frenzy were terrifying. With her attributes doubled, she far surpassed most grade 2 fixers, not to mention her extensive combat experience and her ability to judge and react to danger.
Xu Xiaoyou was very satisfied with Anya’s current performance.
She had suppressed the dismantler almost the entire time. Even if Xu Xiaoyou hadn't intervened, she believed Anya would have still finished it off in a very short time.
Anya loved the feeling of having her head patted. Every time Xu Xiaoyou did this, the girl would show a very comfortable expression.
Just like now, she closed her eyes, her ears drooping against her head, making soft clicking sounds to express her happiness.
In this regard, she was quite similar to a canine; whether wolf or dog, they all seemed to love this feeling.
However, she only allowed Xu Xiaoyou to do it. She remembered when Lin Ran had tried to pat Anya's head before, only to be scared off by the girl’s warning growl and the sound of her grinding teeth.
Suddenly, Anya’s nose twitched. As if sensing danger again, she turned her head with a low growl.
Following Anya’s line of sight, Xu Xiaoyou’s brows furrowed. The dismantler that had just gone silent was now crawling out of the pool of blood. The blood on the ground was flowing continuously into its body. Its severed limbs and the cracked alchemical armor were actually beginning to repair themselves.
That didn't kill it?
Xu Xiaoyou decisively hurled a fireball at the metal canister on its back.
With the canister exploding into pieces, the dismantler, which had just stood up, collapsed heavily again, its life force completely extinguished.
'It seems the weakness of these monsters is the canister on their backs,' Xu Xiaoyou thought.
She approached the remains of the alchemical armor and leaned down, her fingertips touching the surface. Feeling the coarse texture, she realized it was unlike any metallic material she knew.
Xu Xiaoyou reached out, intending to pull off the mask to see what the monster inside actually looked like.
When she lifted the metal mask, she froze.
There was nothing under the mask.
