A chilling red blade-light flashed, and the last screaming figure fell to the ground. Mountain Crow fired finishing shots into the corpses of several soldiers on the ground, then kicked a body beside him. In less than two minutes, the three family heads had ended this lopsided battle.
"How is this possible... how could you penetrate that barrier so easily?"
Dr. Klef panicked as he saw the soldiers he had painstakingly brainwashed and trained fail to buy him even a moment to escape. His previously affected air of composure vanished, and his words were tinged with a faint tremble.
"I say, you fellow, was this really the confidence you had to challenge us?"
"This is impossible... this is impossible. These are my life's work in scientific research. How could you..."
Mountain Crow approached the middle-aged man and pressed the muzzle of his gun against the other's forehead. "Nothing is impossible, understand?"
"Didn't that major already say it? You just need to synchronize with the frequency of the barrier to break the defense of this piece of junk. Do you think that's hard for us? Or are you just so ignorant that you've never seen people like us fight?"
"But clearly, only three minutes have passed..." Klef swallowed hard.
"Dealing with your clumsy tricks doesn't even take thirty seconds, you idiot." Mountain Crow sneered.
"Dr. Klef..." Xiao Liu stood to the side in a daze, his expression desolate. To him, this man was the only person in the world who had ever made him feel warmth, even if that warmth was fake.
"Kid, your taste in people isn't great. These guys who look like 'good old men' usually have the most foul water in their guts. Compared to them, ambitious men are nothing."
"The kindness of others won't give you strength. A punk on the street only learns to resist after being beaten until it hurts."
Klef saw an opportunity and suddenly lunged toward Xiao Liu, grabbing the boy and holding him hostage. A needle slid out of his sleeve, pressed against the boy's neck.
"Don't come any closer, or I'll kill him!"
When he said this, he found the three family heads were just watching him silently, exchanging looks with traces of laughter in their eyes.
Seeing their attitude, an nameless fire surged within Klef. However, Mountain Crow's next words poured a bucket of cold water over him.
"Did you forget who we are?"
"We're the underworld. Do we really need to deal with this trouble?" Mountain Crow turned his gun and aimed it at Xiao Liu.
"How about I help you do it? Kid, close your eyes. It'll be over in a flash."
"How can you be like this!" Klef roared with a hoarse voice. "You group of people with no moral bottom line!"
"It's really irritating to be lectured on morals by a guy who casually sacrifices thousands of lives." Mountain Crow didn't bother with more nonsense and fired directly.
A stray bullet grazed Xiao Liu's face and pierced Dr. Klef's cheek. The latter wailed in pain, clutching his bleeding face as he scrambled back, his hands clawing wildly.
Xiao Liu froze in place, terrified. Mountain Crow nodded toward him, giving him a look. The boy snapped out of it and immediately ran to the side, trembling as he picked up a defensive weapon from the hand of a dead comrade.
As if giving up all thought of resistance, Dr. Klef sat on the ground with lifeless eyes.
"The matter of human sacrifice isn't worth us going through all this trouble to find you. Tell us about the 'Syndicate'."
"That's impossible... how could you know..."
Hearing the word 'Syndicate', Klef's eyes flickered. Realizing he had said too much, he quickly lowered his head and remained silent.
Mountain Crow and the other two weren't in a hurry. They simply waited for him to speak. Time passed minute by minute in the silence, until Dr. Klef was the first to lose his nerve.
"I won't say anything about the Syndicate. Use whatever interrogation tricks you want."
Mountain Crow wasn't surprised by the answer. Without a word, he kicked the man to the ground and then beckoned his two companions. The other two exchanged glances and stepped forward together.
"Same as before. I'll take the left leg, you take the right. Ji, you just lift his head."
Klef didn't understand what the three were doing, but his heart was screaming in alarm. An inexplicable chill made him instinctively pull back his legs.
"You... what are you doing? I'm telling you, no matter what method you use to interrogate me, bring it on! I won't talk!"
"Have you ever heard of 'Aruba'?"
"Aruba? What's an Aruba?" Klef's voice carried a terrified tremor.
Soon, Klef learned what they intended to do. His body suddenly became airborne, his legs lifted by two of them, and he was being accelerated toward a certain direction. That direction was... a thick concrete pillar!?
"Seino!"
"Wait! I'll talk! Ask whatever you want, I promise I'll tell you everything! Wait a minute, wait a minute, aaahhh!"
Following a clear cracking sound, the middle-aged man's shrill scream echoed through the outpost.
"Aaaah!!"
Mountain Crow and Cloud Magpie, like swinging a hammock, grabbed the man's shoulders and legs from both sides and repeatedly smashed him toward the concrete pillar. Every crack was accompanied by Klef's agonizing screams. The gruesome scene made Xiao Liu, watching from the side, feel his skin crawl.
Eventually, the man's body was as limp as a pile of mud. His screams had turned into weak moans, and he was on the verge of fainting.
Cloud Magpie picked up a bucket of ice water and splashed it directly on him. Klef woke up and curled into a ball, his hands trembling incessantly between his legs. A man over fifty years old was now crying with a face full of snot and tears. Compared to the physical pain, this psychological trauma made him so humiliated he wished he could dash his brains out against the wall.
"And here you were thinking about a normal interrogation. After the interrogation, we'd even give you the full service of burying you in the foundation. Did you think we'd let you be so comfortable? Those old methods are outdated." A trace of playfulness appeared in Mountain Crow's smile.
"It seems you don't know the style of us three."
"Oh right, anyone who has seen the methods of us three has never left alive. But their screams at the time were about the same as yours. Maybe your reaction was just a bit more intense?"
"You three... unprincipled bastards..." Klef squeezed the words out from between his teeth.
"Our interrogation method is to let the person being interrogated say everything themselves."
"You have two minutes to organize your speech. Or maybe one minute. Or perhaps if one of us is in a good mood and brings it up, we'll start the next round of 'Aruba'."
"I am not a Syndicate!!" Klef shouted decisively.
The three looked at each other and continued their own business with indifference.
"Not long ago, a fellow calling himself 'Heisenberg' approached me. That man is a Syndicate."
Heisenberg?
Mountain Crow frowned slightly. This person's background was not small. A few months ago, the man had made a name for himself in Dekvido City. In less than three months, he had seized control of the entire underground moon sugar network in Dekvido City, which then radiated throughout Red Heaven. From the transport of moon sugar raw materials to sorting, production, selling, and distribution of loot, every link was tightly interconnected. A massive trading chain had formed behind him.
This man was the most influential drug lord in Red Heaven. Behind him was the most notorious moon sugar group in Dekvido City, the Holy Spirit Society, and he was the emperor of this dark empire.
It could be said that over ninety percent of the new types of moon sugar circulating on the market currently were connected to him. There were rumors that he originally came from Dragonfly Town, a small town with no reputation, but the truth was unknown.
Such a person was actually a Syndicate.
