Chapter 392 · Volume 1

Attack, Don't Stop

"Of course." Xu Xiaoyou nodded.
"Everyone connect to Alliance Communication Line 79. Squad leaders, open individual sub-channels. All others, maintain radio silence."
On the communication panel, the avatars of two hundred people lit up one by one.
For this joint operation, the King's Clan sent a hundred members. Since the Bastion was far too large to take in one go, they adopted a three-step capture strategy.
The first step involved assigning the pillars of the guild to escort Light-Chaser Garden into the depths of the Bastion's prison. Afterward, they would coordinate from inside and out to determine the next stage of the strategy.
"Anya, for this mission, follow the people from the King's Clan and coordinate well with them."
"Understood," Angelina responded coolly from the other side of the comms.
Under the cover of shadows, a small team quickened their pace.
Angelina looked around at the silhouettes surrounding her. Every single one was a boy or girl less than 1.6 meters tall, possessing cat ears and tails. They moved soundlessly, their dark green slit pupils particularly striking in the darkness.
The only one who could be called tall was a mature man with a pair of thick, fluffy canine ears standing atop his head.
Between a wolf and a fox, his robust and powerful tail actually gripped a long pudao, swinging it with such force it whistled through the air.
He was the captain of this Royal Cat squad—Yan Ze.
A vertical scar ran from his brow down to his cheek, and his exposed chest muscles were covered in scars that looked like they had been carved by blades. Taciturn and stoic, he was the very embodiment of a hardened warrior.
In fact, he truly was a ruthless man.
He swung his great blade, splitting a guarding monster's body vertically. Foul-smelling blood splattered into his eyes, but he didn't even blink. With a command to follow, he leapt downward, landing steadily on a platform.
The monsters nearby were stunned by the figure suddenly appearing before them, but the long tail beneath the man whistled as it lashed out. The end snapped with a crack, and the long pudao shot toward their necks like a soul-reaping weapon.
Blood spray erupted as a lethal edge was hidden within the lingering sound of breaking wind. The chilling blade-wind tore the surroundings to pieces; in the blink of an eye, over a dozen headless monster corpses lay on the ground.
Angelina stepped forward, her spear piercing a struggling monster. In a flash of light, she finally reached grade 3.
At the same time, she felt a sense of relief. She got along best with these taciturn types; there was no need for meaningless small talk. Just thinking about that dark-red-haired girl who occasionally approached her to start a conversation made her head ache.
Not far away, Xu Xiaoyou leapt onto a platform following Yan'an and other members of the King's Clan, running at high speed under the cover of night.
"Yan Ze is the strongest berserker in our guild. There won't be any problems over there," Yan'an said.
"Mm," Xu Xiaoyou nodded.
Behind them, a mass of a hundred dark shadows followed, a murderous atmosphere spreading out.
"Shadow Weaver Poem, take the Heifeng squad and provide pressure from the left. Find a way to take out those cannoneers."
"Yes!" Receiving the order, Shadow Weaver Poem leapt up. Dozens of figures followed, their grey robes fluttering as they vanished into the night. In the next breath, they appeared on the other side of the Bastion, bringing with them a flurry of blood.
"Akabane Tsubaki, lead the Red Glow squad and push forward. Get behind the enemy's forward watchtower before we do, and wait for the next command."
"Yuzu, be careful too."
Akabane Tsubaki received the instruction and led seven or eight people as they leapt down from the hundred-meter-high wall, using grappling hooks to move at high speed.
"Tyrant Bear, lead the Death Watch squad and hold the rear."
"Golden Beetle, have the Sighing Wall on level one alert and continue following the main force."
The monsters on the watchtower spotted the rushing crowd and hastily rang the alarm. Suddenly, the chaotic commotion spread across the Bastion like a plague!
"Guild leader, the enemy has discovered us," Xixi warned.
On the giant platforms, festering, twisted monsters surged downward like a black tide. Some were instantly crushed into meat paste from the ten-meter drop, their splattered eyeballs making for a gruesome sight, while others scrambled up using the corpses of their comrades, screeching as they charged toward them.
"Understood. Sighing Wall squad, ensure the Steel Bastion effect is active. Prepare for the first breakthrough!"
Xu Xiaoyou shouted.
The first wave of the brown tide collided with the players, followed by a rain of flaming arrows. Countless rotting crossbowmen stood on arrow towers or platforms, lighting poisoned blood-tipped arrows and firing volleys in their direction.
The priests, already prepared, raised their weapons together. An indestructible golden barrier appeared out of thin air above the group, bursting with brilliant light that turned half the night as bright as day!
Thousands of flaming arrows struck the barrier with a relentless clanging of metal. In an instant, the players' position was turned into a sea of fire.
Splattered black blood screeched as it lunged into the flames. Xu Xiaoyou flicked her whip, slitting the throats of several monsters lunging at her. At the same time, her pitch-black coat merged into the shadows on the ground; a giant hand, like a wave-riding shark, lunged from the city wall, biting down before slamming heavily into the ground, exploding in a waterfall of black blood.
Beside her, an elemental swordsman ran a finger along his long blade. The blade hummed softly and ignited with purple flames. He lunged forward, turning into a bolt of lightning that tore through the night, weaving through the monster horde. Wherever the purple flame-shadow passed, a swarm of heads took flight.
"For the guild leader!" A heavy knight roared, smashing a monster beneath him with his shield. Four or five rat-men lunged onto his heavy armor, only to be grabbed and crushed by his large hands.
"We can't be weaker than them!" Several King's Clan members darted along the ground, leaving a trail of blade-light and blood as they harvested the lives of the monsters on both sides.
"Ancient mystery of the wind, please hear my call and show your power before me!" A girl chanted loudly, and a sweeping tornado tore through the battlefield, launching countless rat-men into the air.
Shortly after contact, battle scenes erupted everywhere on the city walls.
One monster found an opportunity, slipping past the figures fighting around it to pounce toward a buffer in the rear, opening its foul, bloody maw to tear through a fragile neck.
In the next moment, the monster's head exploded in a spray of blood, its health bar instantly hitting zero.
"Heh heh heh, this weapon really is handy. It was worth spending over a hundred thousand federal shields on."
Not far away, Suosuo used the Scattered Sigh sniper rifle to blow the heads off one rat-man after another. A faint blue light flowed along the high-tech patterns of the gun's body, and her tactical eyepiece automatically deployed, displaying endless data in her right eye.
"It's all thanks to the guild leader. Otherwise, we might still be living hard lives in that place."
Beside her, Xixi bent her bow and notched an arrow. The arrow split into five as it shot out, piercing through the chests of the lunging monsters.
Her cloak fluttered in the wind, and the silver-white boots covering her thighs gave her a very heroic appearance.
Seeing that the girl had suddenly gone silent, Xixi realized she had said something wrong and silently strangled a monster beneath her with her bowstring.
The wind flowed past the girls' ears, carrying the other's voice.
"That Red Queen bullied me quite a bit, but all that is in the past now."
"Mhm, mhm!" Xixi pulled an arrow from her quiver and threw it toward Suosuo like a throwing knife. "Didn't you say before that you wanted to sneak away? What about now?"
The latter smiled slightly and tilted her head; the arrow unerringly struck the forehead of a rat-man that had suddenly popped up.
Suosuo also raised her sniper rifle and aimed it at Xixi's forehead, her bright smile filling her eyes. Her lips curled slightly as she pulled the trigger.
A sanity restoration round hit the center of the girl's forehead. A cool, refreshing sensation spread through Xixi's body. The words the girl spoke next were like a sweet, heart-shaped arrow that looped back to strike her soul.
"I think now that not leaving back then was for the best."
"Because it brought you to my side."
