Chapter 276 · Volume 1

Entering the Fray Alone

Through the glass window, Xu Xiaoyou looked down and watched as Mori no Natsu Kuri and the others intercepted an off-road vehicle. Guards cried out in alarm as the vehicle rampaged through the factory floor, tearing open a gap and speeding out.
After confirming the group had left, Xu Xiaoyou finally assessed her own situation. Countless dark muzzles were pointed at her; the guards, having recovered from the shock, formed a circle and completely surrounded her.
"Where do you think you're going now?" Brother Long bared a mouthful of large teeth. "You're a companion of those little rats, aren't you? You've ruined our business; I can't let you off without a lesson."
Xu Xiaoyou glanced at the gun barrels aimed at her. "I'm curious—what exactly does your group do?"
Scarface, who had just regained consciousness, thought Xu Xiaoyou had lost her mind and burst out laughing. "What do we do? We burn, kill, loot, and commit every imaginable evil. Are you fucking brain-dead? We're a gang! You're asking us what we do?"
Brother Long slapped Scarface across the forehead. The latter cried out in pain, not understanding why he was being hit. Meanwhile, Xu Xiaoyou walked straight toward one of the guards. Under his panicked gaze, her hands moved like a magic trick, and she snatched the gun right out of his grip.
Everyone stared in shock. Xu Xiaoyou calmly flicked the safety on, pressed the gun against her own chest, and pulled the trigger. The crisp echo of the dry fire rang through the room with unmistakable clarity.
As expected, Xu Xiaoyou dropped the magazine; it contained no bullets. She held up the empty magazine and waved it in front of everyone.
"A gang's guns don't have a single bullet in them—is that even possible?"
The guard whose gun had been taken lowered his head, not daring to meet the furious gaze of Brother Long. A strange silence fell over the room, save for the young guard named Xiao Liu, whose eyes sparkled as they followed the girl's every move.
It was so cool. Her courage, her intelligence, and her composure in the face of danger made him feel she was incredibly cool. A seed of admiration was planted in Xiao Liu's heart. He wished that one day, he could be that cool—to have the courage to remain unfazed even if Mount Tai were to collapse before him.
"Where is that male student now?" Xu Xiaoyou asked next.
Brother Long didn't answer. He sat on a small stool, pried open a bottle of beer, and rubbed his bruised face; the girl's earlier blow had clearly been quite heavy.
She still remembered the boy who had come along when Heisenberg's jeep drove into the steel plant. He had been taken down by a single shot and dragged away, which had led to everything that happened next.
But if a normal person was hit by a bullet, how could they not leave behind even a trace of blood?
Anger had clearly clouded Heisenberg's judgment, causing him to miss that detail, but Xu Xiaoyou, as a bystander, had seen it plainly.
Brother Long snorted. "None of your business. Since you've figured it out, just get lost. The further, the better."
Xu Xiaoyou's lips curled into a slight smirk. "And if I say no?"
Everyone froze. A murderous glint appeared in Brother Long's eyes. "Are you looking for trouble? You've guessed enough; if I tell you to scram with your tail between your legs, you'd better scram. Do you really want to taste some pain?"
Xu Xiaoyou spread her hands with an ambiguous smile.
Brother Long was clearly a man with a short fuse. He slapped his knee and smashed his beer bottle against the table. "Brothers, this girl wants to find trouble. Let's help her find it!"
"I haven't touched a woman in ages. Catch her and let me have some fun later!" one guard licked his teeth excitedly, only to receive a look of disdain from the person next to him.
He scratched his head. "I thought saying stuff like that was more in line with our identity."
"Just come at me all at once. It'll save the trouble," Xu Xiaoyou loosened her shoulders and caught the beer bottle Brother Long had hurled at her.
"Still being so damn arrogant! Everyone, get her!"
A guard lunged forward with a shout. Xu Xiaoyou smashed the bottle over his head, grabbed his arm, and spun her body, using him as a shield against several others who were rushing in. She actually forced them back by sheer momentum.
"Ha!" another man rushed out, swinging a crowbar. Xu Xiaoyou's eyes flickered; a brilliant amber light flashed through her pupils as she raised her arm. The metal crowbar slammed down, and the crisp sound made everyone's ears ring.
The man looked in horror at the bent and collapsed crowbar. He felt as if he had just struck a diamond. The shock of the vibration left his entire arm limp. This person's physical toughness... was like a monster!
Xu Xiaoyou deactivated 【Diamond Skin】 as an N1911 pistol appeared in her hand—one that Mori no Natsu Kuri had slipped to her during the chaos.
【Anesthetic bullets】 were quickly loaded. With a few shots, she took down every guard who tried to approach.
A tall, thin figure, clearly trained in combat, rushed over. He fell into a boxing stance and threw a powerful hook toward the blonde girl's face. After generations of refinement, even an ordinary person who mastered force techniques could easily shatter rocks with a punch. As a grade 2 fighter, he had absolute confidence in this strike.
Xu Xiaoyou glanced indifferently at the incoming fist. She tilted her head to dodge, locked the man's neck with her arm, and delivered a swift knee strike that nearly knocked the stomach acid out of him. She followed up with a forceful elbow strike to his back, instantly sending him collapsing to his knees.
Xu Xiaoyou quickly held the man's neck while spinning, sweeping her muzzle in a circle to aim at the remaining guards in the room. The guards who had been eager to jump in earlier were now completely silent. No one expected this seemingly slender girl to possess such high-level combat skills.
Xu Xiaoyou sneered, reloaded with one hand, and delivered another vicious knee strike to the man's abdomen, forcing him to his knees. With a twist of his arm, she dislocated it, ignoring his wails as she finished him off with an anesthetic bullet to knock him out; the guard had paid the price for his earlier words.
"I hold grudges," Xu Xiaoyou tapped her forehead with the gun. "Whoever comes next, I'll give them two extra kicks."
Hearing this, the remaining guards in the room trembled. They looked at each other, but no one dared to take a step forward.
"You lunatic, what do you actually want?!" Brother Long remained seated, glaring at Xu Xiaoyou through gritted teeth. All the guards looked at him with hope, but he knew that Xu Xiaoyou had been holding back the entire time, not even using abilities beyond basic combat. Everyone in the room combined probably wasn't a match for this girl.
"Didn't you boast about having fought Dark Gold Rose? How can you not even get past me?" Xu Xiaoyou's lips curved.
"Yeah, Boss! Didn't you say you fought Dark Gold Rose? You said it was a world-shaking battle!" the underlings chimed in.
"Boss, don't hold back! Show us your true strength!"
"Boss, are you just going to watch us get beaten down? Hurry up and take down this crazy girl!"
Brother Long suddenly became the center of attention. Under the pressure of those countless expectant gazes, the man had no choice but to stand up. His muscles bulged, and an ogre-like aura emanated from every pore. The muscles on his back seemed to form a weeping ghostly face!
"You're the one who forced me!"
"It seems I must let you witness the power of a grade 3 chariot, a strength that can crush anything in its path!"
Brother Long let out a furious roar and lunged toward Xu Xiaoyou.
Two seconds later, Brother Long's massive frame was tossed back in front of everyone like a piece of trash. He was charred all over, and the flames wrapped around him were extinguished. Xu Xiaoyou dusted off her hands while the others buried their faces in their palms.
"Bring the Vulcan Tyrant! Bring the Vulcan Tyrant!" Brother Long roared in shame and fury, unable to bear the humiliation.
Upon hearing this, a trace of icy coldness froze on Xu Xiaoyou's face. A Hundred-Bone Whip was pulled taut and dragged across the ground.
The chill emanating from it made everyone present shudder with fear.
Just as the situation was about to spiral out of control, a deep, familiar voice of an old man rang out from Brother Long's curtain.
"I trust you have been well, Miss Xu. How about we call it a day for now?"
