Chapter 248 · Volume 1

For the Sake of Killing

Li Yue wiped the fresh blood from the corner of her mouth. Beneath her lay a rather slender young woman who appeared to be around her age, though her true age was unknown. Asking a girl’s age wasn’t a polite thing to do, or so she’d heard.
But her blood was as fresh as a young maiden’s, so Li Yue considered her a young woman. She was naturally a bit gentler in her handling, though she hadn’t managed to extract any useful information.
“Just crushing the central nervous system directly, would that lead to a painless death? Or should I try mashing the brain next time?” Li Yue discarded her superfluous clothing, wiped the blood from the sole of her shoe. What she didn’t want to eat, she fed directly to the Death Abyss to devour. After all, there wasn’t much difference between giving it to Jormungandr or eating it herself.
If she ate it herself, she would taste it and feel the texture of chewing. Any parts she didn’t like, she would simply shove into the Death Abyss to be devoured. What couldn’t be eaten would be destroyed. Being a picky eater wasn’t a good habit, and Li Yue didn’t like picky humans.
“Her blood memories didn't contain the information I wanted either…” Li Yue licked the fresh blood from her fingertips. She had originally intended to extract information through negotiation or similar methods, but she quickly realized she couldn’t fully discern if the other party’s words were true. Moreover, letting the opponent live was like keeping a ticking time bomb. If only she could kill everyone silently from start to finish.
With that, her task was complete, and her stomach was full.
Her figure stepped into the Death Abyss and reappeared in a black secret room in another corner. A gasp of surprise erupted from within, and soon only the hair-raising sound of tearing flesh and the howling of souls remained.
“She’s escorted quite a few bound souls again, how nice.” Li Yue toyed with the blood crystal she had condensed in her hand, then tossed it into her mouth and crunched on it, as if it were a snack she was chewing for fun.
Li Yue walked out of the secret room. That body just now had been very powerful, possessing the strength of an upper-middle Great Mage. If she had chosen it as her appetizer first, there probably would have been a small struggle.
“Just like… a fish flapping around when it’s placed on a cutting board.”
This was the analogy Li Yue had come up with. She had thought of this when she pinned the person down and twisted their neck. The opponent’s struggling body was like a live fish she had personally prepared before. For such disobedient beings, a slice to the neck would make them docile.
Li Yue yawned, her sharp fangs exposed to the air, faintly glinting with a cold light. Li Yue wondered if, as her true form was a snake—a giant snake that had poisoned gods—her teeth also contained venom, or only the teeth of her true form.
“Hmm… I hope not, otherwise I won’t be able to bite Clo without restraint…”
Her current location was very close to the principal’s office. When she killed that Great Mage just now, she sensed Movella’s life force very close by. It seemed Movella had just returned to the principal’s office, and Li Yue wondered if she was currently handling some affairs.
As the direct beneficiary, or rather, as an important chess piece in the power transition, Movella should know a lot of the information Li Yue needed. So Li Yue thought.
She stood at the principal’s office door, hesitating whether to knock, or if it would be better to just go in and kill.
“Why are there so many magic barriers on the door and inside the room? It would be a bit troublesome for the Death Abyss to enter directly.” Li Yue sighed.
“Knock, knock.” Li Yue obediently knocked on the door.
“Hmm?” Inside, Movella shifted her gaze from the window to the door. She glanced at Night Dew beside her, a hint of disgust on her face. “Is it those kids from just now? Even if they attribute the principal’s death to me, it’s useless. I didn’t do it anyway.”
Movella shrugged. “I’ve already prepared a decent funeral for him. That’s more than enough. Once these tasks are done, all that’s left is to make everyone in the academy forget him. Some old things just need to be forgotten.”
Movella gave Night Dew a look, signaling her to go open the door. Night Dew nodded, her high heels clicking loudly on the floor. Her dark blue short hair fluttered in the air. Movella glanced at the window, unsure when she had opened it.
“Wait…” Movella called out. “Wait… the aura outside the door… something’s wrong… how… there’s nothing… no…”
Night Dew’s hand hesitated suddenly as it touched the doorknob. “Outside the door… it’s not their aura… no… I can suddenly feel a magic aura.”
She frowned, her hand on the doorknob, and glanced at Movella. Both read a hint of hesitation on each other’s faces.
Movella murmured, “Why does it seem like there’s some aura, yet nothing at all…? Like an empty shell of a body… without a soul…”
“But outside the door, it’s clearly… Professor Locke’s aura.” Night Dew muttered to herself, her hand already turning the doorknob slightly.
“Wait!”
“Boom!” The door was heavily smashed open by a punch. Li Yue appeared at the doorway, clutching the head of a shriveled, bloodless corpse. Her eyes held a cold aura, and her blood-red vertical pupils were filled with the desire for slaughter and exhilaration.
“You guys are so slow to open the door…” Li Yue’s nails were deeply embedded in the corpse’s flesh, yet they weren’t stained with a single drop of blood.
“I could have turned right and slaughtered another heretic who crossed the line in that time.” Li Yue’s tone held a hint of impatience, and uncleaned blood still lingered at the corner of her mouth.
Her pale long hair fluttered in the wind. The horrifying corpse in her hand turned into ashes and vanished into the air, becoming a cup of dust in this world.
The wind howled in Movella’s ears. It was an autumn afternoon, the weather hadn’t started to turn cold, and there was a warm feeling under the sun’s embrace.
Yet Movella could clearly feel cold sweat slowly trickling down. The shadow of a giant snake slowly began to spread from beneath the feet of the girl before her.
