“Where was the classroom for the next period again?” Li Yue recalled the tour the professor had given her on the first day. The route was a bit blurry in her memory, but she remembered it well enough. If she wanted to take a shortcut, there should be a small path she could take.
Li Yue put away her pen, tapping her forehead with the end of it. She set down her book and let out a soft sigh before returning it to the shelf. It was quiet here; perhaps because the term had just begun, there was almost no one around. If it ever became overcrowded, she would just have to consider herself unlucky and find somewhere else.
Most shops in Karl Romon only sold satchels or shoulder bags. Li Yue had been looking for a backpack, but unfortunately, there did not seem to be such a design here.
Perhaps there was a business opportunity there, but Li Yue did not think she had any talent for business. Besides, traditional concepts were hard to break, so she did not act on her idea.
She rubbed her slightly aching shoulders. I have grown weaker. This fact reminded Li Yue of itself every moment, yet the feeling gave her a renewed sense of the reality of being alive.
As her power weakened, she could feel the God's remains within her slowly merging, showing a trend of becoming one. It was only a matter of time before her body was fully assimilated...
Was there even a need to absorb the remaining God's remains?
Li Yue asked herself this occasionally, but she would quickly stop thinking about it. When the time came, these things would not be hers to choose; she could only accept them.
Even though she was now a completely different person from who she used to be.
When you pass through a storm, you are no longer the same person.
She composed herself, pulling her emotions out of her slightly pessimistic predicament. By using just a tiny bit of divinity, she could quickly calm her heart. As long as it was only a tiny bit, she would not touch that intense desire within the divinity.
After long term suffering, a person can only return to themselves through a single desire. It was the same for gods.
Life was a tangled mess of desires. Fulfillment led to boredom, and lack of fulfillment led to pain... Even though Li Yue knew this well, she simply could not resist her own powerful will.
She rubbed her temples. Although it did nothing, it made her feel slightly better.
Only her footsteps echoed in the silent corridor. The rooms along the hallway were empty, filled with all sorts of strange vessels and special products of various colors and states. This was the alchemy classroom area, firmly locked by magic and inaccessible under normal circumstances.
Since alchemy classes had not started yet, there was almost no sign of human activity here. Aside from obvious traces of recent cleaning, it was quiet. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the windows, casting shadows on the walls. Regardless of the season, the sun always had its shadows beneath the light, places that would never be illuminated — like that abyss like sea of death.
An inexplicable sense of resentment and anger rose in her heart, but she quickly suppressed these emotions. She took a breath, trying her best not to think of those places, those locations unmarked on maps, those things that might currently reside in the astral realm.
She pressed her temples again. The connection between the God's remains and her seemed to have deepened further. Scenes of vivid crimson flashed before her eyes, pale gold scales appeared at the corners of her eyes, and the seals on her feet trembled slightly.
“Calm down... Calm down... Unfinished mission... All of this should be... meaningless.”
Pressing the corners of her eyes, the abnormalities on her body slowly vanished. Her figure stumbled; for a moment, her former power seemed to return in abundance, far stronger than what she had originally held.
“Good... Good...” Li Yue sighed, looking exhausted as if she had stayed up all night, appearing much weaker.
“Good thing no one is here. If I were seen, it would be hard to handle the body.” A flash of coldness crossed Li Yue's eyes. “...What am I thinking... In this situation, I should ask Clo if there is any relevant magic.”
She bit her nail, her shoulders trembling slightly. She habitually suppressed herself, not letting her emotions interfere with her logic.
Her hair was a bit messy. She walked to the window and used the reflection to tidy it. She dazed for a moment, her pupils refocusing as she looked through the transparent glass at the spring scenery outside.
The scenery under the sun was warm and full of life, but hidden within the shadows of the buildings was unknown evil. She struggled to calm her heart, but keenly caught a hint of hostile magical aura in a narrow corridor of the side teaching building.
She could reach it by crossing one hallway, but she did not seem to have much time. After all, the next class started in about ten minutes, and she did not want to miss the first session of any course at the start of the term.
She looked away. The world was full of suffering, and she did not care about the fate of the weak...
A minute later, her figure instantly appeared in a narrow corridor. The rooms here seemed to be for storing equipment, labeled as storage rooms. There was dust on the nearby floor; it seemed even the cleaning staff had forgotten this level.
Her breathing was slightly hurried, perhaps from running, and with the weak expression on her face, she looked a bit disheveled.
“What are you doing here?” a brown haired girl asked with a sinister expression. She was clutching a handful of grayish green hair, and the owner of that hair seemed to be struggling in pain.
Xiao Lin...
“What... are you doing?”
“Just saying hello to our long lost idiot celebrity friend.” A blonde girl grinned with a look of disdain. She kicked the girl who was struggling while having her hair pulled, looking quite self satisfied.
“Yo, I have heard of this one. The freshman who is super pretty and looks exactly like the illegitimate daughter of some Royal Court big shot.”
“...” Li Yue flexed her wrists, her fingernails growing slightly long and sharp. “...”
What was I thinking about just now?
Right... How to cleanly dispose of a body.
