Li Yue traveled at an incredible speed. In just half a day, she covered a distance that would take an ordinary ship dozens of days. Had her aura not been so powerful that it scared off numerous Sea King class monsters, her progress would have been significantly delayed.
The drain on her mana was immense, even for someone of Li Yue’s current level. Without the support of the Death Abyss, she would have been forced to slow down or would have run out of mana long ago.
Aside from Li Yue, only a Great Mage specializing in the water element could achieve such a feat. However, their mana reserves would be far inferior to Li Yue’s, who now possessed four pieces of God's remains. They likely wouldn't even have a third of her capacity, and for the same distance, they would probably consume even more mana.
Perhaps only a spatial Great Mage of the same caliber could keep up with her speed, but such individuals were exceptionally rare. Furthermore, for the sake of safety, the Royal Court had deployed an entire fleet. They seemed to have a calculated plan for moving and handling the God's remains, which was why they had sent so many people at once.
“That Captain gentleman said he would delay the Royal Court’s fleet. I wonder if he actually succeeded,” Li Yue sighed, taking a brief moment to rest. She hadn't yet begun to consider what she would do after killing Fen'ao.
On the distant surface of the sea, a towering wall of water had been erected. A young man in a sailor suit stood at the bow of a ship, laughing arrogantly. He took off his pirate hat and shed his black coat, leaving only a yellowed white shirt. The ship beneath his feet seemed to have merged with him, galloping freely across the waves.
He sailed along the edge of a massive whirlpool, casually tracing patterns with a Persian scimitar. The seawater obeyed his commands as if it were alive. In the sky above, thunder rolled and lightning flashed. In contrast, the water surrounding the Royal Court’s ships was a vivid crimson. The blood-red water clashed violently with the dark, natural sea. The entire whirlpool was divided into red and dark zones, locked in a fierce struggle.
“Battling at sea is truly exhausting...” an old voice echoed through the air. His blood-colored magic continued to fight against the seawater. Countless specters crawled out from the scarlet tide, singing an elegy for souls as they summoned tsunamis and whipped up violent gales.
“It really is you... I didn't expect you to drag a Traditionalist Mage along with you!” the boisterous man at the bow shouted, his voice tinged with disdain.
“It is simply the way of the world,” a cold female voice replied, carrying a sense of ethereal detachment. In this regard, she was quite similar to Li Yue, though the Captain felt that Li Yue’s previous demeanor was more human—perhaps because she had been showing a bit of emotion at the time.
After her long journey, Li Yue was now drawing closer to the strange coordinates. However, everything ahead was beginning to turn bizarre.
The seawater here... why was the death energy so heavy?
Li Yue felt uneasy. Although she spent a lot of time within the Death Abyss and was accustomed to the sensation of death, the scene before her still made her pause in surprise.
Is this the influence of the skeletal remains of Death?
But isn't it sealed within the temple? How could it still exert such a powerful influence? This is just the Trunk... how can it have an effect comparable to the Death Abyss itself? It’s terrifying.
Do I really have to absorb this thing? I’ll probably go mad... Can I just borrow its power, like using an artifact? I’ll have to try.
She soaked in the seawater to rest for a few minutes. When she woke from her brief nap, she was surprised to find that her body had drifted quite a distance toward the temple, as if the place itself were calling to her...
No way... Has it already noticed me? Is it that eager for my arrival?
She steadied her breathing and looked at the distant temple, hesitating for a moment. But if she left now, she would likely run into Fen'ao in his Perfect Lifeform state.
A sudden chill ran down her spine. She swiftly drew her blood sword and unleashed a charged strike behind her. A powerful wave of sword qi surged out, severing a pale claw that had reached toward her from a distance.
So fast? The pale creature, with its mutated claws, lunged at Li Yue. With no other choice, she could only fight as she retreated, dealing with a variety of bizarre attacks while moving toward the temple.
She held her blade horizontally in front of her, blocking a powerful claw strike. Using the force of the impact, she propelled herself backward. Fen'ao’s body was already starting to adapt to her slashes; if this continued, the situation would only become more troublesome.
She sprinted across the water's surface as the surrounding area grew increasingly dark and deep red. She gave herself ten seconds—within that time, she had to get as close to the temple as possible.
“Cheese!” She turned quickly, and Fen'ao’s humanoid figure was once again captured in a photograph. While he struggled to break free, Li Yue widened the distance once more.
She had to admit that Fen'ao was the most tenacious opponent she had ever faced. His unpredictability and adaptability were qualities none of her previous foes possessed. His body was a powerful fusion of offense and defense, and he was incredibly difficult to deal with.
Edward, one of the Overlords of the Four Seas she had faced before, was a representative of pure, overwhelming power. His magic was intense, and the sea domain he created could rival the Blood Moon world she produced with just her heart. However, his physical durability had been very low, and he had died very quickly within her domain.
The photograph floating on the sea behind her made a tearing sound, as if it were about to be shredded. Li Yue knew that for someone like Fen'ao, the second time she used the same magic, the effect would not be as significant—it might even have no effect at all.
As she drew closer to the temple, she felt a powerful pull. It guided her through the surface barrier, drawing her toward “Him.”
The moment Fen'ao broke free from his constraints, Li Yue instantly activated “Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust.” His constantly shifting body began to necrose rapidly. For a moment, he actually reverted to the form of a young, muscular man.
However, after only a few seconds, his body began to resist the encroachment of death, forcibly initiating its next evolution and adaptation.
